It´s really a very good and funny movie, very similar to the US screwball comdies. The writer Curt Goetz also wrote Das Haus in Montevideo and Hokuspokus. He also worked in Hollywood for MGM and a Cary Grant movie, People Will Talk, is a US version of Curt Goetz`s Dr. med Hiob Praetorius. Goetz, along with Loriot is one of Germany´s greatest comedy writer-actors.

Lilian Harvey is so cute. She exudes a joie de vivre that puts a smile on everyone's face.  How can anyone not fall in love with her? Sadly, I just can't imagine a Jennifer Anniston or any of today's actresses in such a role.

@jaguar4u2012 Lilian Harvey and Göbbels used to live next to each other on the Griebnitzsee in Potsdam, Babelsberg (That's where I live). I guess they used to see each other quite often because the movie studios are just 10 minutes away from where she lived. (Babelsberger Filmstudios). As I heard did Lil think of might leaving Germany. It could be that this is why she wasn't included in the list of the "blessed" german actors. Just like Fritsch.

I think this list was just the most stupid thing that the Nazi-Movie-Culture invented. They even said that Willy was Nazi ... okay he had no choice but to join the NSDAP but that doesn't mean he was Nazi. :/ I feel ashamed of the past of my country tbh.

This is what the chorus says. It does not really make sense but is related to the story. The three guys were fired from their jobs minutes before. The author Curt Goetz was famous for his playing with words and double meanings.

Paul Martin, der Regisseur war einer der sehr wenigen fähigen Regisseure, die Deutschland damals aufgrund seiner "rassischen Abstammung" geblieben waren - alle anderen waren ja emigriert --- Wilder, Lang, Siodmak, Sierck etc. etc. Außerdem war Lilian Harvey unsterblich in ihn verliebt - ein Grund weshalb sie in Deutschland blieb --- wohl auch der einzige. Ohne einen Pfennig verließ sie Deutschland rechtzeitig, um später verarmt in Frankreich ein zu frühes Ende zu finden.

Dass dieser Film lustig wirkt und Stimmung "rüberbringt", ist einzig der Verdienst professioneller und engagierter Künstler. Zum Lachen hatten sie sicher nicht viel im "Reich", besonders dann nicht, wenn sie "unbequem" waren - wie Lilian Harvey.
