I don't like when people put ink on themselves of shit that they either didn't earn or doesn't know what it means. For example, people think because you're in the Navy you can get an Anchor. NO. You only get an anchor if you crossed the Atlantic. Swallows are for every 5k miles you sail and so many more. I guess for a civilian it looks cool and they want it, but it ruins the tradition even if they want it really bad. USN tats are by far the most interesting, and are where sailor jack got hisfrom

As I recall it came out of one of two books my artist had of Sailor Jerry flash. It was actually part of a larger scene that included something like an island and a banner. I only wanted the tree so he cut that out to use alone. Many of the individual pieces I used were cutout's of larger flash. I also asked the artist to get creative and include his own style and personality to any piece at his discretion. The shark is an example of his style mixed with the original.

It differs with each tattoo artist. I would suggest the cost averages $100.00 -$125.00 an hr on larger pieces. I have a total of about 13 hours on this sleeve. It can also depend on the design as well. If its custom drawn, it may be more. But a good artist can get a lot of work done in an hour! Good Luck!
