Ronnie James Dio also played a trumpet in his early years. I read somewhere that Ronnie attributed his powerful singing technique to all the years playing the trumpet (because of the breathing control it taught him. I wonder is that also why Geoff's voice was so strong and powerful especially on the early albums.

His talking voice is so deep and low, it sounds really counterintuitive to his ridiculous range.
