@zzausel Abuse is putting your short haired dog outside in Northwestern Canada in winter with no protection. Yesterday the daytime high was -26C and that is not counting windchill. Be glad you don't know what you are talking about by calling me insane!
i have a Dachshund, and right now its winter, when the wind shield is REALLY cold. my dogs feet dont last long at ALL and he ends up walking funny ( lifting his foot) and repeats with the others.. and once he cant stand it, he Yelps! like crazy (its scary) and ends up on his back. there for i had to buy little boots for him. he doesn't like wearing them atm. but 20 minutes a day will get him used to them. i do this because i love him .<3
SHE IS SO CUTE, OMG, OMG, TOO CUTE!!! My Bernie loves how loud he sounds while wearing his booties, he gets all frisky and runs around; sounds like a stampede of horses, lol.I admit to dressing him up for fun, his Steeler's jersey is for show only but the booties were to protect his feet from all the broken glass in the mountain areas, it's not cruel or inhumane, it's called being responsible and protecting from harm, that which you hold dear.
@maxjones811 This was the very first time she had the booties on. She has since gotten used to them and walks (and runs joyfully) with them on. We live in a brutally cold climate where putting her outside with protection is cruel and inhumane. In winter we put her booties and a sweater. The road salt is also terrible for her pads.
@maxjones811 Gah, please THINK about it for a sec...The dog, who as a dog is not familiar with the feeling of clothes, feels that his feet are sticking in something, That is why he is lifting them so high to get out of the "imaginary mud" or whatever he interprets it as. If you never wore clothes, they'd feel uncomfortable to you, too. But salt and stones require soles for dog and human, it is different in a natural environment.
@maxjones811 Dog boots are not cruel. Whats cruel is not protecting your dogs feet from elements that could very severely harm their pads and paws and make it awkward even painful for them to walk.
@DoloresHaze84 Oh, you would never know she had them on now! She runs through the snow, no problems. She actually gets excited to see them in the morning, because she knows she is going outside. Us northerners are crazy...eh?
@bourky93 Its because they have to get used to wearing shoes/booties ect. It feels funny to them and strange because they have never worn them ever before :).. But once a dog gets used to wearing them, they start to walk like they would normally do without um! My dog was the same way. Hope that answered ur question.
I think dogs that aren't used to the booties think they are standing in snow or mud. That's why they make a movement as if they'd pull their legs out. What do you think?
If any of you who are making judgmental comments actually lived where we do, you might change your tune. Our dogs need protection from the brutal cold and road salt in Northern Canada. I wouldn't spend money on booties "just for fun" they are necessary.
Ok fun for one go, but I really hope you don't make that dog walk in those shoes more often... I hope you threw them away. If you didn't then you are giving your dog a really unconfortable time! just saying... He looks very unhappy
Small dogs need booties in the winter. They aren't made for these temperatures. My chihuahua steps in the snow, which melts the water. Well, that water is still on their paws. So, when they go to use the bathroom and stand there, the water freezes again. It's very painful for them. It's better to just put boots on them for five minutes than deal with frozen paws. The dogs are fine <3
that was sooooo worth the wait.. Totally cute! Adorable and funny. She looks just like mine. My mini poodle loves to run around in his booties bc of how much louder his footy steps sound. thank you 4 posting!
Its good that dogs are trained to wear dog-socks simply because of the fact that it is needed in some places. In arctic areas its not recommended to walk dogs for more then 20 minutes at a time. That is hard if you have an active dogbreed. So doggieboots are very handy if you need to walk longer with your dog than you can in 20 minutes. So this is not cruel if they are doing it for similar reasons.
dog boots are not at all cruel. this dog is clearly well loved and cared for, and is probably not used to these boots yet. I put my dog in booties every winter because you try walking on cold snow and ice in bare feet. It protects them and keeps them warm.
People need to calm down, this dog is loved and has a good life compared to many! Some dogs actually need them so don't criticize before you even know the situation.
@sethandjillomer some dogs have to where them because of rashes, or because of how hot the pavemnt. sun burned paws realy hurt, and so dose glass in your paws. do some recerch.

@tehcarpet-Have you ever heard of "Muttlucks"? They are dog booties like these, and they've been sold successfully for a long time. The owners of dogs who live in cold winter climates are advised to get booties for their dogs to protect their feet from road salt. Snow balls also form on their feet when the fur between their toe pads gets heavily caked with snow. This has been known to actually stop a dog from being able to walk when the snowballs are large. There are pics on the net if you look.
hahaha. I have a mini dachshund too and when we first started to put booties on him he walked just like this! It's hilarious he's like a fish flopping around. Its so funny how when you put booties on a dog they all of a sudden forget how to walk. But if we take him out in the winter it's too cold on his little feet, and if we take him out in the spring the salt wears his feet raw and they bleed!

@AnotherEpigone A little clumsy discomfort is much easier for a dog/animal to take than having their delicate little pads burnt by road salt or frozen from ice and snow.. Please take that into consideration...this is not just for the "cuteness" of dressing an animal..
A littole clumsy discomfort is much easier for a dog/animal to take than having their delicate little pads burnt by road salt or frozen from ice and snow...please take that into consideration...this is not just for 'cutsey' dressing of an animal..
I also live in Northern Canada and have a Min. Pincher. I barely take him out in the cold weather..he has very little fur on his belly, but when I do...I put a coat and booties on him. He has gone without them for a second and that is exactly how long he lasts in the cold. The salt on the sidewalks and roadways is brutal on his paws. I applaud you for taking care of your best friend so well and she is soooo cute....
Even in a cold climate a canine's body chemistry is not the same as a humans and therefore does not need booties on even in very cold climates. How utterly ridiculous to put these on any animal and make the animal look stupid for people's enjoyment.
@Thespeedysophie Well, we chose to protect our dogs in our brutal climate. Many breeds of dogs are certainly able to tolerate severe cold, however, our short haired, mini dachshunds need additional protection from not only the cold, but corrosive road salt.
@Thespeedysophie The animals aren't being harmed by these and yes, small breed dogs get colder much easier than large breed dogs so booties aren't a terrible idea. And plus, this helps keep the pads of their feet from being damaged when they go outside as well. So, before you trash these people for posting this video, make sure you know what you are talking about. They are doing nothing wrong.
@Thespeedysophie I don't dress my dogs, but there are some dogs who actually enjoy wearing clothes and some who need clothes. as well as booties. A friend's Pom has lost most of his fur due to a thyroid condition and needs a sweater to keep warm - the dog will actually bring the sweater to his owner. A former neighbor had a pit bull that was allergic to grass and had to wear booties outdoors to avoid getting sores in his paws. Some dogs actually like clothes, so I avoid making blanket judgements
I was going to say why did you put booties on a dog but i have read your comments and fair enough your right, if i lived where you do i would do the same! It just gets me where people dress up there dogs for no real reason
I've literally had this video bookmarked for years now. It's by FAR one of my favorite YouTube videos, ever. It still makes me laugh just as hard as the first time I saw it. She looks just like My Baby, Mr. Bear. She's precious and this video is simply toooo much :)

i cant beleive how many people are commenting on this video and fighting about it its funny, like why are u people fighting over this? its just a video of a dog walking around wearing booties. whats the big deal? its hilarious to me.
@24MindyMoo1 It certainly depends on where you live. We live in an unusually cold climate, and our dogs wear the booties and sweaters for protection against the cold and road salt. It is not cruel, putting them outside with no protection is cruel!
This is abuse of dependents. I thank god that not everybody is as insane as you.

@AnotherEpigone A little clumsy discomfort is much easier for a dog/animal to take than having their delicate little pads burnt by road salt or frozen from ice and snow.. Please take that into consideration...this is not just for the "cuteness" of dressing an animal..

Lol at all the rude comments. It's a dog in booties. Booties made for the dog. It's a funny video, get it? Funny video? Okay.

Dogs legs articulate differently than human feet so putting boots that are shaped like human footwear on them is stupid. It causes them discomfort.
Ambiduros 1 year ago
@Ambiduros Actually, these boots are designed for small dogs, and are made for their particular leg/paw shape.

@franskaf I agree, unless of course you live in a brutally cold climate.

@yellowstang56 Thank-you for your support! Until you live up here, you can never know how brutal it is outside!

How cute.

That is soooooooooooo cute! I wish I could get my dachshund to wear booties!

Even in a cold climate a canine's body chemistry is not the same as a humans and therefore does not need booties on even in very cold climates. How utterly ridiculous to put these on any animal and make the animal look stupid for people's enjoyment.
Thespeedysophie 1 year ago
@Thespeedysophie Well, we chose to protect our dogs in our brutal climate. Many breeds of dogs are certainly able to tolerate severe cold, however, our short haired, mini dachshunds need additional protection from not only the cold, but corrosive road salt.
cburnette2371 1 year ago 9
@Thespeedysophie The animals aren't being harmed by these and yes, small breed dogs get colder much easier than large breed dogs so booties aren't a terrible idea. And plus, this helps keep the pads of their feet from being damaged when they go outside as well. So, before you trash these people for posting this video, make sure you know what you are talking about. They are doing nothing wrong.
***Cute dog by the way!!

@cburnette2371 your so very welcome. :)

I've literally had this video bookmarked for years now. It's by FAR one of my favorite YouTube videos, ever. It still makes me laugh just as hard as the first time I saw it. She looks just like My Baby, Mr. Bear. She's precious and this video is simply toooo much :)

how cruel putting those strange slippers on that dashound, i have a dashound and i would never put them on her !
24MindyMoo1 1 year ago
@24MindyMoo1 It certainly depends on where you live. We live in an unusually cold climate, and our dogs wear the booties and sweaters for protection against the cold and road salt. It is not cruel, putting them outside with no protection is cruel!
