One of the very best rock bands ever. Playing live noone could compare to Humble Pie, not in the past or present. Cheers to the best /genuine rockers.
20 April 1991- Saddest day in rock music period. No one will ever top Marriott to me, his crazy unnatural talent & presence in all his bands was amazing. Kicked around & disrespected by the suits, hanger's on & all the ick from the industry it may have helped him decline but thru it all Marriott NEVER COMPROMISED HIS MUSIC OR SPIRIT.!Play on Steve - out there under dreaming spires, perhaps somewhere out in the Universal, all too beautiful, all too talented & all too missed.! ever always MMG
Absolutely... Greg Ridley was a fantastic singer, and musician; a former member of Spooky Tooth during their peak as well. How could anyone even mention Lee Jackson (of the Nice) in the same sentence, or dare to compare?? I love The Nice, but, Jackson's vocals are so dreadful, and has got to be one of the worst singers of all time!!!
@okuspokus100 Steve died in a house fire. Im sure it is not a great way to go. I can only imagine what music he would be doing today. He needs to be in the rock and roll hall of fame. Everyone needs to tell those out of touch people to induct him into the hall of fame. I cant believe at the MTV music awards they mentioned all the great people that died and didnt even mention Dickie Peterson from Blue Cheer the godfather of heavy metal.
Wow, 2 days after Google buy and it's all different. Good posting, but I felt like Steve was just putting on another show #2006, and their best stuff was the record, of which this was a highpoint of the album, next to I Wonder
Saw 'em live at Winterland about this same time..... saw many shows there, but the Pie was the best, by far.... thanks for posting.... They just don't (or can't ) do it like this anymore!! RIP Steve and Greg
Yeah. And these guys, vs. Foghat circa 1974? Yeah, I love Dave Price's slide, and Perverett's wangy vocals, and Rock And Roll Outlaw. But this? This is is like orders of Magnitude more powerful. These are major hitters, led by the ALBERT PUJOLS of VOCALISTS/SECOND GUITAR PLAYERS. There is no comparison! Marriott rules!
HeyAbelinc0900 - You know I soo agree with ya!! That's why I said Marriott knew how to pick to 'em to play with in my comment below. Again I say - who on earth could play hard rock better then this? Aww HP was soo amazing - Both are Ridley & Marriott gone now, I miss them today and everyday - and Ronnie too ... "rock is dead - long live rock" to quote another pro - Mr. Townsend !!
Noone & I say NO ONE was better in rock music to me then Marriott & noone ever will be.Not only was he the finest but he had the ears too, he always picked the BEST people to play with & Humble Pie with & without Frampton was & is the greatest ROCK band ever to me. Just LISTEN TO THS THING! These guys were amazing, who could play hard rock better then this? I hope he & Plonk & Ridley are out there zooming around the universal together, aww I miss my Marriott - just the best - caclosed .
I've been listening to HP alot lately, and I'm convinced that Marriot is hands down the greatest rock & roll vocalist of all time. Combined with the guitar and harp, he's pretty much untouchable for all around. What a voice!!
I have sat stage side for all the greats, pie was in league by themselves when steve wanted to burn the arena down he did. Yes I have seen him play lead many times but he let clem have the spotlight alot. Steve would sit and have drink with fans and treat them like friends one great guy I will never forget!
@hterra1955 You said it, Greg did some of the best Pie songs and was one of the best bass players of all time. He was with the Pie from begining to end. RIP Greg. Thanks.
Hey there thanks so much for posting,I've not heard or even better SEEN this one! Thanks to youtube...And thanks to you for posting.Pie were so incredible,I can't beleive that Madonna and Blondie are in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and Pie isn't! Steve Marriott was the most soulfulist singer in Rock n Roll. Thanks again.Long live Humble Pie!!! Steve Marriott forever!!!!

This song can grind up and spit out anything that tries to pass for rock and roll today. Thanks Steve, Greg and all the pie. Rock On.

I'll take this version of the band any day instead of the eventual watered down version it most likely would have become if Frampton stayed along.

Greg Ridley sang just a bit better than Lee Jackson. Both sang better than Keith Emerson
