Correction This is not the most expensive violin in the world, The most expensive is Nicolo Paganini's Violin $40,000,000 USD, The only man in this world who have this one time in a live opportunity to play it in a concert was Eugine Fodor.
To ipmoic! Fair enough Venezzia becomes Venice in English or Venecia in Spanish! But what really irritates me is like chaps like Palin travelling the world just with only English and in Vietnam showhing contempt and impatience with the locals "they don't speak English!" What the ignorant expects! They were civilizations when the English were throwing their faeces in the street! While the Aztecs were having sewerage and daily baths! Anyway the end of Comunism to have such an oligarchy
Actually is Mozart's Violin concerto no. 5 played my PInchas Zukerman, and its just the introduction to the concerto, listen to the whole song, it really is a masterpiece.
The asshole British announcer can't even pronounce Guarneri correctly. I hate when people speaking any language don't at least ATTEMPT to pronounce foreign names correctly. But the Brits are past masters of this vile practice.
Neither the News reader at the start and the person narrating the news story are British, from their accents I would guess they are from Australia or perhaps New Zealand. Aside from that, isn't accusing an entire nation people of something the exactly same sort of ignorant lazyness you profess to dislike?
@julqw2 Whose national treasure? Italy's? If so, why didn't the Italian Government bid for it, and place it in their National Museum of Violin Making, Cremona? He may be an olygarch, but he is placing fine instruments in the hands of talented players, which is more than investment houses do... they buy them then stash them away in bank vaults for decades! Now THAT is theft!
Most "famous" fiddles have been circulated through many hands. (dealers mostly) As a result the interior thicknessess have been sanded, scraped, or gouged out to almost nothing, then patched and re-patched until the true tone qualities have been forever ruined. Want to own and/or play upon a pure example by Antonio Stradivari, Joseph Antonio Guarneri del Gesu, or Alessandro Gagliano? Contact me! None of you have ever seen or heard the likes of these magnificent instruments, guaranteed!!
The Massiah strad. stored in the british museum is valued at 15million dollars now its reckoned that when tested by carbon dating etc. it was made well afler stadivarious had died. Where does that leave the experts?
if you're talking the most expensive instrument in general i think like paul mccartney's piano went for something crazy like 30 mil, it was either some john lennon thing
Yeah, this can´t be the most expensive violin. In a mini-documentary called This Old Cello, a person says: This Violin costs over 4 million dollars today. And he also says. This cello costs about 6 million dollars, but I think we would get five.
World's most expensive? I don't think so. private sales have exceeded 4 million but the numbers aren't published. Plus, Perlman's Soil Strad or Pitcairn's Red Mendelssohn Strad would go for ten million or higher in my estimation.

Wrong! The most expensive violin is the 1741 Vieuxtemps Guarneri del Gesu. It is worth 18 million U.S. dollars.
