One of Lester Piggott's worse tactical rides. The tactics were similar to those of his Breeders' Cup win on Royal Academy in 1990, but on this occasion he was beaten by specialist milers. Peter Chapple-Hyam's decision to campaign him over 1 1/4 miles later in the season paid dividends, when he won a number of group 1 races but failed in the Breeders' Cup.
i wonder if you have any more of royal ascot 1992. these videos are excellent the marling coronation stakes too. i wonder if you have any more late night highlights..
i remember watchin these way back when.
it was a great meeting that year, and id love to see more of it.
have you got and could you post drum taps ascot gold cup and sheikh albadou in the king stand/ or the wokingham where lochsong was 4th // .. cheers
Arazi had excuses in all his 3yo defeats. 105310 were his 3yo form figures.
both the wins were over a mile on soft ground and he was very impressive both times. 0 and 3 were over 10 furlongs (too far) although he ran well in the derby.
and the 5 and 0 were on firm ground over a mile. its reasonable to say he would prefer that kind of surface after having bone chips removed in his knees.
@flimper1 My horses name is Curlew Flyer you can look him up on TB data base for lineage i mainly use him for HUS, English Pleasure, and Jumping now he is such a sweet boy! :).
I saw Arazi race in the 1992 Kentucky Derby personally being at Churchill Downs. I had seen his 91' B.C. Juvenile win at Churchill Downs as a 2yr.old on T.V., plus had seen the replay of his 91' win's in the Prix Robert Papin and Prix Morny. Arazi never looked marginally close to the same horse as a 3yr.old as he did as a 2yr.old. IMO.
My memory is normally excellent where racing is concerned but I had it in my mind that Arazi didn't run after this. His 4l win over Calling Collect and Alhijaz was good form in the Prix Du Rond Point in October 92.

Name the other high profile horses that Michael Kinane has saddled on apart from Sea The Stars?

Arazi needed soft ground as a 3yo
to be at his best. he was an impressive winner both times he had that surface following an operation to remove chips from his knees
