put just a bit more speed into it, more speed will allow you to lean your weight more against the hammer which allows for more tension and momentum, don't lead with your eyes or head, and squat down a bit more again for that weight against the hammer.
Thanks Guys for the tips....I am surprised by the number of postings and the quality of advice. How do you find such average hammer throwing in the You Tube universe? My best is now 41.87m. Won the Aussie Masters M50 weight throw recently with 15.04m. Shot - 12.55m. I'll definitely be in Sacramento in 2011!
@Next50On turn faster by working heavy weighted hammers, progressively getting lighter throughout the practice session to work on form and speed simultaneously. Try an 18 or 20 lb hammer, then cut to 16, then to 14 then 12. speed will become comfortable sooner or later.
make sure all your bodyweight is on your left foot at the start and as you start to turn bend as far forward as you can to increase the radius. Also try and twist your head as far ahead of the hammer as possible to help increase the torque. Just keep driving with your chin, that is the key to a good throw. In other words, drag the hammer as much as possible and keep leaning forward. And the most important thing is to heed the ball laddie. Bend the arms more by pulling in as you turn.
My 6kg best is only 41m, so I am trying to improve as well.
My comment is about arms- you are slightly pulling in- let your arms out more and hammer speed will increase, and probably leg speed and faster turns will also occur. And your release is a little low, arms should extend upwards more.
this was only one throw, your performance varies from throw to throw-- keep up the practice, keep up the motivation---
wait for the hammer to pass you before you start your entry. try to sit a little more so you don't lock out your left leg. and let the hammer stay long out towards the sector, don't be quick to rush across
you need more power in your legs you dont seem to be strong in legs when you are throwing

Keep your eyes on the hammer. Don't lead with your head. Try to sit down more but don't stick your bum out as much. Block with the finsih
