@MusicRakan because gm went bankrupt, there brands all competed with each other. pontiac was part of gm, as was saab chevy oldsmobile buick gmc saturn hummer cadillac and who knows what else.......they cut pontiac a year before they went into bank rupcy, just like they cut oldmobile years ago......Its gm, it happens. Next wither Buick or Cdillac will go, because you cant support two luxry brands....though they are opposite, on clean and curvy the other sharp and rough.......

@casino555 Really? I thought they only made the coupe for 1 year. I see a lot more 350Z's around then Solstice Coupes. In fact, I've only seen one on the road and I spend most of my time driving. (Wrecker driver). I'll have to look that up.
@Silverstreak350Z Sorry, I meant the Pontiac Solstice itself... not just the coupe. You are correct, kind of... Pontiac made 1266 Coupes, of which there were 102 pre-production models, then came the 1152 sequentially-numbered VIN models, then 12 2010 pre-productions.
This car could never compete with the MX5 or S2000, and thats where is was targeted. So Pontiac sale plumeted. When Consumer Reports came out with the results from the unfortunate buyers of this Pontiac, the Soltice's fate was sealed. Low quality, overweight, unreliable, and loaded with problems, the Solstice was detined for the scrap heap. It was almost a shame, because the Solstice was actually a beautiful looking car on the outside. Americans just can NOT seem to be able to build a sport-car!
What's with all the "year round driveability" fodder? I have a Solstice Convertible. I drive it year round; rain, sleet, snow. Fantastic car! Too bad GM was so narrow sighted and pulled Pontiac. It was the only GM badge I'd spend my money on. Have an '07 Solstice and an '82 Trans Am. Love my Pontiacs.

are americans fick or do they not listen
the interior so badly put together ,it may look alrite if you like alot of plastic.
i wish americans car makers would NOT use as much plastic , use quality and trust me it does not out handle a boxster ,ive driven both and the solstice is dull compare to a boxster and slower too.
Who in their right mind compares anything to a porsche boxter? that POS was outperformed by the s2000... you are obviously a young woman if you have any attraction to a boxter or a slowstice or a focus or a rx8.
HA
pontiacs have always had lame plasticy interiors, except for the 3rd gen firebirds. It has nothing to do with being american, it has to do with being a pontiac you jackass.
I would, I really don´t care if the company who makes a specific car is going to be out of business, if I really like the car and I am planning to have it for many years (because it is the car I want) I will have no problems on buying it.
Most objective Solstice Coupe review in video I have seen so far. This version gives the driver more year-round capability. Great styling. It turns heads when driving. Bob Lutz autographed mine the week I bought it. He has a silver one. Fun car & most functional w/ the optional soft top targa along for the ride. No deal-breaker issues. Reviewers have to have something to complain about. Mostly just Fast and Fun! This car accomplishes its mission: High performance, attainable, open-air coupe.
I think this car is sexy. I want 1 bad. If only people would post comments that offer more info on THIS car instead of bragging about their Mazdas or whatever. If I cared I'd be watching those videos.
I've had one.. its a great little car and its very fun to drive, however, the interior quality is sub par... thats the only complaint other than having to add oil every thousand miles..
This car is more appealing than its convertible counterpart, but if I want the top down, I want the whole thing down and able to be stored inside the vehicle quickly. The optional soft top just isn't enough when I can put down a Mazda MX-5's hard top with a push of a button.
I'll take it over a Nissan Z, but not over a Mazda MX-5 PRHT.
This a beautiful american made car that is faster and better handling than the Mazda. SCCA T-2 champ and the Mazda is no dog either. As far as cost its not way more expensive than the Mazda and if you what a nicer interior get a Porsche Boxer S, Oh wait the GXP outhandles that too!! for a lot less money and its built here in the USA. Didnt see that coming did ya.
the engine is a renault.....parle vouz france ? bitch, stop trolling. Its an amazing car, i will never sell it, it still turns heads after two years of owning it. Amazing performance, gorgeous looks that will never age, and not mention just pure fun to drive. I only have to regrets...it died before it's age and it's a cop magnet. But I love this car to death, and it will one day be passed on to my son or daughter * if i ever have kids*. Peace out Porsche prick.
how am i racist? and i am american btw, and the fact that mazdas are made in the us has nothing to do with the fact that the only market where this terrible car is sold, america, is where it is the best selling roadster. better selling than the mx-5 which handles with absolute neutrality, and the steering is light and precise.
"If they prefer a car that can be driver year-round... the Solstice coupe." I swore I drove my Miata every day, year-round just as I plan to drive my new Sky Redline everyday, year-round. You know that fabric that comes out of the trunk (in this car's case) called a "top" designed to protect you from the rain? Funny thing is it works for snow too! So you need to put the heat up a bit more, big deal. Chumps.
GM's car company based in australia called holden makes better cars than pontiac. look it up and wonder why we dont get great cars like that in america.
Why would you want to ad that low tech stone to such a small car? It made 260hp at BEST which is what the turbo 4 does now. For $650.00 GM offers a package to raise HP to 290hp and 340 ft lbs. including full dealer warranty. 3800 = FAIL
For the record, the solstice convertible can be driven year round, contrary to the insinuations of the narrater... I don't own a Solstice, but I do have a 1999 Mazda Miata as my daily driver, and I have no issues with the weather.

Eh, I don't. I liked the convertible only from the back, the front to me looked a little weird, I actually preferred the Saturn Sky to it.
But now they've messed with the back so it looks like a station wagon =\. I'd rather have the convertible and live with the practicality issues, thanks.
alexofburkinafaso: I agree. The backside looks killer, but the front looks a little "mickey mouse" to me. What do you think? Overall though, it's a real nice looking car with a great profile and backside. Looks very high-end but costs next to nothing. Too bad I'm not a Pontiac fan. I like Ford Mustangs. But this is the next hottest looking ride out there. I like it better than the sky, which looks cheaper somehow. The lights on the sky look too euro- ricer.
Really, I like the straight edges look of the sky, kind of why I like the Cadillac CTS.
I'm not a huge American design fan, the only two cars I would like to own are the new Camaro or Challenger, I've always been a sort of European car fan.
So honestly if I was in the market for this 30-40k coupe market, I'd get a Porsche Boxster, used if it needed to be.
GM styling is truely having a renaissance! The new Cadillac CTS, the Saturn Astra, the new Malibu, and now this beautiful coupe are all evidence that the General is getting back on track...the same can't be said for Ford or Chrysler, unfortunately. (The new Challenger is nice, but what's up with the new Chrysler Sebring and Ford Focus... especially when you consider how much better the European Focus is)
