I'm sure there are a lot of fans that like his version and that's cool. Wonder since I haven't been following the show as of late what's up with the rumors of a forthcoming regeneration in 2012 anybody have the lowdown
I remember watcging the doctor as a kid with my mom back in the mid eighties. First new episode I saw after the return in 2005 was bad wolf with eccleston and the dalek I was hooked loved christopher as the doctor the right amount of humor and attitude. David tennant was awesome tie between him and tom baker as my favorite doctor. I have to admit I don't care for matt smith what I have seen of him as the doctor its like he's trying to hard to be kooky and wacky but that's just my opinion
@TheAce707 Netflix! It's streaming all the Doctor Who episodes from 2005 - 2010. Unlimited streaming on Netflix is $8 a month. Go watch Who now! Start with "Rose" from 2005/Season 1 :)
I was 11 years old when I first watched Doctor Who with Chris Eccleston...and that was way back in 2005. I completely fell in love with the show...became an obsessed fan in a matter of 45 minutes haha. I'm 18 years old now....time's gone so quickly! o_O
@DistantDreamer93 I was six years old when I first watched Doctor Who with Tom Baker...and that was waaaaaaaaay back in 1979. ;) And just as Tom & Lis Sladen (Sarah-Jane Smith) did back then, Chris Eccleston and Billie Piper hooked me in 2005 like a slave. Then, Tennant came in and carved his legend! And now, the Mozart-of-Doctors that IS Matt Smith! I have loved Doctor Who, literally, all my life. It premiered ten years before I was born. I hope it's still around long after I'm dead one day. :)
@DistantDreamer93 Same here :D I'm now more of a classic Whovian than a fan of Matt Smith, etc (Colin and David are my favourites) with my favourite episodes being the likes of the Deadly Assassin, etc. But I love it all. Best thing was, mentioning to my nan and grandad that I watched the first ever episode of Doctor Who in 2005, and them telling me that it wasn't the first ever episode, and they told me about pretty much every DW episode and the film-turns out they love DW too xD
Watching this, comparing it to now with MS... It's so different! I mean, I loved it then and I love it now, but it has changed so much! But change is what drives this show...
@saraphite NO WAY! The episodes with Christopher Eccleston were much better than now and if anything I'd say that the ones back then were more gripping! Doctor who nowadays is S**T and the ones back then were so much more realistic and well thought out.
@Stoobmaster1 OK, first point, you're arguing that Doctor Who is realistic, secondly, you're saying that they're better? Look at them! The Aliens of London, The Wasp episode, Fear Her... the list goes on about the bad episodes, and then look at the new ones, Victory of The Daleks and to an extent Night Terrors, both terrible terrible episodes. If you don't like Doctor Who now then don't watch it, I just think they're a lot better.
@saraphite Can't you just respect other people's opinions I liked it it better back then and ok I don't think it's realistic but I think it's better than now, what's wrong with that?
@Stoobmaster1 I adored Eccleston's season, but I can't for the life of me figure out why you dislike the two newest series'. It's a huge improvement from the terrible stories of David Tennant's era.
LOL I remember all the hype when these trailers started appearing. I was quite young then, and I remember the "Dalek Invasion Earth 2150AD" being shown a week or so before "Rose" was broadcast. I was a stupid child, and I couldn't understand why "Invasion Earth" and "Rose" were so different! I actually though "Rose" was a direct follow on from "Invasion Earth"!
@theantinatalist well no one else will. altho when we do make first contact the aliens r gonna think we r up our own asses. actually maybe thats why we haven't yet
@theantinatalist 9 did as well. in fact altho some of them berated the human rce (something 9-11 also did/do) the Doctor hs always been fascinated witht he human race and had a fondness for us
When I first saw this trailer, I thought it was some sort of nature documentary predicting what the world will be like in the future! I don't know why. :/
(must have missed the Big Ben crash lol, only half watched the trailer tbh)
Turned out to be a great series and my favourite doctor so far.
recording repeats of series 1 atm, but I might go out and buy the box set.
@dalekcaan1963reborn Same, I don't know whether it was just seeing it back on screen (or on-screen, I should say, as I was only 10 when it came back, but I'd still got loads of the classics on DVD; still a bigger fan of the old series)
Mind you, I'm so looking forward to tonight's episode, Series 6 looks so much darker and more intense than the last, which I thought was good if not a little light...
it would of been interesting if murray gold had of used this theme, because this theme is the 1st version of the theme he composed but eventually changed it to the one we know for series 1,2 & 3
Ever since its cancellation in '89, fans were begging for DW to come back (the British ratings for the '96 movie proved this). They should have done something much more to hype the return.
I remember I was 9 When I first saw this, I liked series 1,2 and 3. But I still Think Christopher Ecclestone could have stayed, although David tennant was good aswell. The New Series Has gone to S**t, Crap opening and a bad doctor. Get your act together bbc. Fantastic Vid Though, Liked.
Yeah, not to be horrid but I was never convinced by Billie Piper - who wants a teenie bopper as a DW companion? But I thought Eccleston was rather splendid and do wish he'd stayed in the role. As for this trailer - well, it couldn't be better to get everybody watching the new series, could it?
@cropcircle82 i think rose added that appeal to what you first expect from going through time and seeing aliens, not being too happy and acting as if you knew everything and being scared when bad stuff happened, not making any cheap puns and making out everything was gonna be ok after (amy)
@LichKingBoi Yessssss! I agree with every single thing you said! You're being faced with a bloody great alien and you've been living on earth all your life, you'd be terrified, not making jokes. The Doctor can joke, he's been at it for 900 years, Amy's been there five minutes, she'd be shit scared! I miss Rose's genuine reactions :(
i wish i could have been producer for this series, i would have made it a lot better. i would not have cast christopher eccleston or billie piper becuase these two were bound to leave the series early since they are high profile celebrities. I would have picked two well known but low profile actors to play the lead roles. I would have chucked away that last great time war storyline and replaced it with the war in heaven storyline and put more emphasis on the story telling rather than the CGI.
Anyone know where I could get a copy of this version of the theme tune without Eccleston talking over it? Easily the spookiest theme so far, barring the original :D
@DalekSec02 I got it from a truely wonderful website which not had all the offical and unused themes, but also alot of remixes from the 80's and 90's theme remixes, but sadly the BBC closed the site down :(
i remeber seeing this on tv because i heard that dr who was a good program i missed the first few episode of the first series after i watched a episode i week i like dr who by just watching 1 episode
This is still the best Doctor Who trailer. Well this side of '2000' anyway. I dunno it just seems so... exciting. But then again I do like the 11th Doctors trailer too...
i much prefer CE. The majority of DT fans are just there for his looks and do not care about his acting. I did like him but I got a bit tierd of his frequent complaining and he kept repeating himself. CE was really better IMO.
@LlamasOnAcid I am a DT fan (And a CE fan) but I don't like him just for his looks. He is a brilliant actor, everything he's been in, he is amazing. One newspaper (I think it was) even named him the best actor to play Hamlet, or something like that :)
@LlamasOnAcid I'm another DT fan who doesnt just like him for his looks. As a matter of fact, I didnt even find him attractive at first-- it wasnt until watching the show for 2 whole seasons that I decided I liked him better than CE. (theyre both great!!)
Amen. He was a warm and dark doctor. He could do more with one look than Tennant does grinning from ear to ear, raising his voice and waving his arms around. My point of view any way. Eccleston was "my doctor" as they say.
@lifeonmars90 Im with you, not that I dont like david tennant, I do. But Chris has to be one of my favorite doctors because he fit the personality so well. A couple more seasons with him would have been nice. How about they give him matt smith's spot ;)
@Cjrrodian difference between Chris & David (imo of course) was Chris hit the ground running - he *was* the Doctor, right off. DT took a bit longer. I liked DT very much but yeah wish we could have had Chris around another season or two
@lifeonmars90 same, i mean i loved David Tennants Doctor, but he got so serious and over dramatic towards the end of his time. I just wanted him out by the end of Series 4. Im very impressed with Matt Smith so far, i knew he would go far the moment they anounced him =). I wish there could be a cross over episode where we see Chris and Matt together, like in the old days when doctors ran into doctors all the time. that would be awsome =)
@lifeonmars90 He only retired because he didn't want to be type-played for The Doctor... drat. Well, I loved David and I love Matt... But I do wish Chris stayed longer :(
You're right on that notion. It's been revealed already and it looks fuckin' disgusting. Who picked that outfit anyway? He looks like a real jackass compared to Eccleston or Tennant..
to be honest i prefer CE than david tennant because he was a bit more serious, had hat sarcastic sort of humor and made it exciting with every word :)
I liked Christopher. I wished he stayed in for just another series at the most. He feared of being typecast but now David Tennant has been typecast into the role.
I remember seeing this when I was only ten! I just thought it was some action series coming soon to bbc one, but when it the to the dalek, I was soooo excited!
okay with every doctor who trailer/vid/song/interview on youtube you get the comment "I THINK SUCH AND SUCH IS THE BEST DOCTOR EVER" "BLARDI BLAH IS THE BEST" you know what everyone has thier faves and I don't care who likes who. what does pig me off is seeing the same comment everywhere then arguments start where people fight who's the best who of the re-launched series. can't we all agree to disagree and just say we support and love the show as a whole?
I remember seeing this and not really paying much attention to it, my mum and dad kept going on about it I seem to remember, then I watched about 10 min and I was hooked! and I don't normally like Sci fi
I love the title theme in this trailer! I would have liked to see them use this darker version in the new series.. Wonder if this one is out there somewhere?
strangely i miss 2005

@lifeonmars90 Im with you, not that I dont like david tennant, I do. But Chris has to be one of my favorite doctors because he fit the personality so well. A couple more seasons with him would have been nice. How about they give him matt smith's spot ;)
Cjrrodian 1 year ago 3

LucasW180 1 year ago 2
@lifeonmars90 He only retired because he didn't want to be type-played for The Doctor... drat. Well, I loved David and I love Matt... But I do wish Chris stayed longer :(

Chris was the first TV Doctor without the silly question marks or naff geeky costume.
Matt's costume is going to perhaps cause an uproar in the fan base when it gets revealed.

Why would it cause an uproar? What is it?

No

You're right on that notion. It's been revealed already and it looks fuckin' disgusting. Who picked that outfit anyway? He looks like a real jackass compared to Eccleston or Tennant..

@8tot4xz9e Its good, returning to the classics

to be honest i prefer CE than david tennant because he was a bit more serious, had hat sarcastic sort of humor and made it exciting with every word :)

This comment has received too many negative votes show
are u joking david tennant was the better dr he was the 1 who was more serious and he had a bit of of a dark nature
BossRoss999 2 years ago
no, DT wasn't as serious as CE and DT only has a dark nature for like 5 seconds :P
LichKingBoi 2 years ago 2
um CE Doctor was all angry and serious, it wasnt that long after the time war and was full off anger which made his doctor more serious.
DT was also serious but that wasnt the main feature of his character.
scottytheboy 2 years ago 2
I liked Christopher. I wished he stayed in for just another series at the most. He feared of being typecast but now David Tennant has been typecast into the role.

CE Doctor was also quite joyful, many people forget about that

Chris was an awesome Doctor. I mean, he was perfect parts eccentric and serious.
kyon813 2 years ago 5
okay with every doctor who trailer/vid/song/interview on youtube you get the comment "I THINK SUCH AND SUCH IS THE BEST DOCTOR EVER" "BLARDI BLAH IS THE BEST" you know what everyone has thier faves and I don't care who likes who. what does pig me off is seeing the same comment everywhere then arguments start where people fight who's the best who of the re-launched series. can't we all agree to disagree and just say we support and love the show as a whole?
valiapira16 2 years ago 2
I remember seeing this and not really paying much attention to it, my mum and dad kept going on about it I seem to remember, then I watched about 10 min and I was hooked! and I don't normally like Sci fi

Eccelston was very good but i think DT is a far better Doctor. But we have been blessed with two great Doctors since the show came back.

the dark feel of early series one was brilliant, i wish they kept that auroma with Tennants era.
Buddaman990 3 years ago 4
If anything I think the show's got darker. But I think every season's been better than the last. Chris was brilliant, David is even more brilliant.
StKildaFan 3 years ago 8
I love the title theme in this trailer! I would have liked to see them use this darker version in the new series.. Wonder if this one is out there somewhere?
