  • That's fair. It's your style and your show. Perhaps it just isn't for me.

  • My problem with this review is the length due to the amazing amount of useless filler. We don't need to know about the smell of food in your apartment. And while it is interesting to hear about the toys you had or the comic series from NOW! Comics, it has very little to do with the actual freakin' DVD series. Review the DVDs or review the comics. I mean, you made this review like five parts, make a part about the comics, and another about the toys if you want to cover RGB as a whole.

  • @ironpen92 My reviews are not just reviews. They are also for entertainment, and I always inject personal anecdotes when relevant. My reviews are as much about whatever FRANCHISE the DVDs relate to as the DVDs themselves. Read the descriptions if you want to know what is covered in each part and just watch the parts that are of interest to you. Most of my viewers enjoy the way I do my reviews because they're DIFFERENT from the same old boring style that EVERYONE does.

  • @Zaranyzerak that guy dosnt know what he is talking about, i could listen to you talk and rant all day

  • @Zaranyzerak

the first season actual doesnt end until miday through t he second our third of the 5 volumes. It's a wate of time by the other season individual after the 70 to 85 some original episode season aired the remaining season only lasted 9 to 30 episode each because they mad a bunch of changes that fans did improve of. Including bring in the junior ghost busters who only appeared in 2 episode I belive

  • @Zaranyzerak

also in some version of the episode with the boggie man episode the first on there was a scene were wintson breifly fight the buggie man by him self that was left out of some of the version of it that were posted online for some reason.

  • I think you did a great job reviewing my favorite cartoon of all time and what do you think of a possible Ghostbusters 3

  • Even the comic books are in perfect shape :-)

  • Really nice mate!

    Keep up the good work.

How i turn of commercial. If u dont get any money from it i dont want to have it tbh.

  • @daniellandgrens Actually, I do get money from those (I'm a Partner and get Ad Revenue for my videos). Sorry, you can't turn it off. I've had to resort to using those because far too many people are using ad blockers these days. Funny you should mention that on THIS video, actually, it was thanks to my very first ad revenue check ever that I was able to get the Real Ghostbuster set! :)

  • @Zaranyzerak Oh ok. :-)

Normally i ctrl+r and it disapear. Cause its often commercial for footboll.

But it didn^t work this time. after 5 times i was like wtf.

Let it roll so i can watch your awesome clips :-)

    Ok then i know.

I know u complained over youtube that u had trouble to proove that u actually had done what we all know u have done by yourself.

Hope that is sorted so u get funds to continue your personal and well made clips.

Especially for movies. I like those the best :-)

  • @daniellandgrens Yeah, YouTube depends on ad revenue to keep the site running, and most importantly keep it FREE for all of us to enjoy. Plus us Partners obviously depend on the revenue to help with some of our production costs (some actually make enough to live off of!) Because of the rampant use of ad blockers lately, they've had to get more and more aggressive with the ads to get around them. If people would stop using ad blockers and just leeching off the site, it wouldn't be necessary...

  • @Zaranyzerak Ah,ok.

Well know when i know i wont hate the commercial anymore.Cheers:-)

One question cause u like Sci-Fi as i do.

What u think about Stargate the first ten seasons with original cast.

And isn^t one of the ships from Battlestar Galactica very similar to the X- Wing from Star Wars. I mean is there a story behind that someone from one production sold this idea behind some backs or similar or its maybe just me that are to conpirary like during cold war between east and west^_^

  • 7:43 FTW!

    love your videos sir.

  • Were any of those episodes Slimer Come Home?

  • ya that episode is in volume 1..you can buy that individual dvd

  • Sweet.

  • I used to have the bed covers with the art work of the knock knock vhs lol wish i still had it lol

  • I smell food...

    LOL

  • your making me want this $200 set- you suck! I can't afford that!

  • The Time Life website.

  • A little over 200 dollars for the set, with shipping.

  • The Adventures in Slime & Space video was in a cardboard case and featured the artwork from The Real Ghostbusters Volume 9 with the guys and one of the crew called McTavish running away from the orange creature which appeared in the episode Aint NASA-sarily So. Ghost Busted was in a cardboard case and featured the artwork from A Fright at the Opera.

  • Ah yes I remember those. Thanks for the reminder. :)

  • Oh yea just to add, they were released with Sony except for Filmation Ghostbusters which was Universal, and none of them had any special features.

  • OMG one episode per video tape, man how tight is that. I tell you what buddy. The Real Ghostbusters has just come out on DVD in Australia, like litterally a few days ago. Its come in a two disc 'complete series one' edition with 13 episodes. Also Complete series one of Extreme Ghostbusters came out the same day along with three volumes of the Filmation Ghostbusters, each containing 8 episodes. You could say Australia has all of a sudden gone into Ghostbusters mainia lol

  • Issues 9-11 were some of the BEST RGB comics. I recently did a video about my GB collection (toys, comics, DVDs, etc) check it out if ya got a chance!

  • Nice! I guess I got lucky when I found that batch then...hehehe. I'd like to get the rest of them at some point. I will most certainly check out your RGB vids!

  • "And the phone is ringing, that was a great series." xDD Nice One

Great Video, I always like watching your reviews, and this one is one of the best!

  • i hope the do a Complete Rugrats Collection

  • Hell yea the art work on there was bad ass, I wish there were more art work with that design on It.

  • Ive just had a fantastic idea ! ,how about you do some zaranyzerak watches the real ghostbusters videos ,you could put yourself in the corner of the screen ,like you do with the dead space videos ! ,cos lets face it ,us uk fans arnt going to see this show over here for probably a long while yet !

  • Unfortunately, I think there would be some major copyright issues with that. It's fine if I use a short clip as a part of a review (that falls under Fair Use), but showing entire episodes wouldn't fall under the same criteria and would likely get my channel in trouble.

  • Hey Z, How can you get this set? Do you have to order it somewhere? I've tried to find this everywhere and it's apparantly not in any stores.

  • It's only available online. You can get it directly from Time Life on their website (but only for the U.S. and Canada), plus there's a lot of ebay and amazon Marketplace sellers offering it. the individual volumes are coming out in stores, but the Complete Collection is an online exclusive for now. It will likely be available in stores at some point (like most of Time Life's stuff), but it hasn't been announced when yet.

  • Any possibility of these coming to Region 2? :(

    This set looks amazing.

  • The first 13 ABC episodes of RGB is due out for release by Sony on June 15th. If sales are good, Sony may release the rest, as for extras, it's unknown if this first set will have any.

  • Thank you for posting! I loved that show.

  • Dude, how much did the box set run you?? I really want it! Can't find it!!! Also, looking for Batman TAS, from the 90's... Any help??

  • amazon has the complete batman TAS boxed set. $99.99 Canadian.

  • im glad they they finally realease a boxset

because those for 4 episodes thems disk

  • I'd love to see Extreme Ghostbusters get the deluxe treatment. I actually REALLY enjoyed that show, and thought it was a clever way to bring the franchise back. People tend to complain that it wasn't the original team, completely ignoring the fact that it was VERY well written and the tone was bang on with RGB at its best - a perfect blend of comedy and horror. Funny enough, it sounds like the concept for the third movie is quite similar - with the original team mentoring the new team.

  • JUST A CARTOON?!

    JUST.....A CARTOON?!!

    SCREW YOU, SONY!!

Jeez Sean, when you say in depth, the depth of which you speak is limitless and wrought with potential!

  • I know...it's like when that article appeared you could hear millions of voices of RGB fans cry out in agony and then they were suddenly silenced...

  • I feel ya on that one, Obi-Sean.

Even just as a fan of cartoons in general, I just can't stand the attitudes of some of these companies. They sold Flintstones as a prime time cartoon, they sold The Simpsons that way, and Family Guy, ect....and yet some of these execs still treat cartoons like they aren't good enough to be considered prime entertainment with any profitability. FOOLS!

  • Great review of this series of cartoons. I use to watch them in the 90's. Those VHS boxes look as if they are in mint condition.

  • Yeah, I really lucked out with those VHS tapes. I bought them about 5 or 6 years ago from an ebay seller, all brand new and factory sealed! Since then, they've had a place of honor on my VHS tower. :D There's a few nicks from where there were studio stickers to hold the tapes in the box (unavoidable - removing the stickers would tear the box slightly sometimes, but if you don't remove the stickers you can't get the tape out!), but otherwise they're in great shape.

  • Awesome.

  • I totally dig when you make those overviews of the different releases of shows. One notices that you are a real expert on the subject.

Thanks for the awesome review Shawn. I hope they do such a great complete box-set here in Germany too soon.

  • Thanks! There hasn't been any word on a Region 2 release as of yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. I mean, if the comments on these videos are any indication there are RGB fans all over the world who would love to get this set! It would be a shame if they didn't make it happen!

  • Great Review over the past years of ghost buster collectibles! Looking forward to the upcoming review.

  • "If there's something weird and it don't look good!

    Who you gonna call?"

    "Zaranyzerak!"

  • Yeah!!! Now all I need is a theme song that tops the Billboard charts for 20 years and allegedly rips off a Huey Lewis bassline and I'll be all set...

  • Interesting DVD review. I never really watched the cartoon, but enjoyed the movies, so I found it interesting. The biggest thing I remember about the cartoon was that there were two different Ghostbusters cartoons, which was something I always found to be very confusing. I take it the other one must have lacked legitimacy since you didn't even mention it.

  • Well, the story with the "other" Ghostbusters is a bit more complicated than that, I'll be going into detail with that one a little ways down the road, basically once I pick those up as well (they're part of the Filmation collection). Real Ghostbusters was fun, it really captured the essence of what made the movie so great - a near seamless blend of scary creatures with genuinely funny comedy, just made a bit more "kid friendly." I was impressed by just how well the cartoon still holds up!

  • Great review. I used to have issue 12 of the comic and I wish I had kept it.

  • Food is better then smelling slim

  • Damn, that food smelled good... I swear someone was standing outside my window with a big bag of onion rings and a fan to waft the smell into my place...

  • My favorite episode was "Standing Room Only"(not sure if that's the exact title). Anyway that is the one where this Ghost devouring entity that was responsible for the great deserts of the world, was heading to New York because it was attracted to the Ghostbuster's Ghost storage facility. It could of been a third film.

  • Don't think I've got to that one yet, but I'll keep an eye for it! Sounds like an epic episode! That's one of the things I always liked about the show - you really get a sense of genuine PERIL from the creatures. Far more so than the typical cartoon villains of the era.

  • Comment removed

  • No you're right, that was the name of the episode, the ghost's name was Mee-Krah

  • Mee-Krah was actually a bigger threat than Gozer. Gozer was a class 7, Mee-Krah was a class 8. The Mee-Krah story deserved a film, IMO.

  • That's an idea, that could be the ghost in Ghostbusters 3

  • In the Uk we had 20 episodes of The Real Ghostbusters released by RCA Columbia Pictures Video/ Magic Window, on 10 VHS volumes with 2 episodes on each. We even had 'The Best Of' releases which was 2 VHS (later DVD) releases that chose 8 of the episodes all ready released and put them in those two volumes (4 episodes per volume). Then we got the Ghostbusters episodes on the Ghostbusters 2 DVD release as extras (like the Region 1 release) and that's that.

  • Thanks for the extra info, David! I knew there were some different VHS release in the UK, but didn't know you folks got nearly DOUBLE the number of episodes we did!

There was a bootleg DVD over here (that was sold through amazon, no less!) that was an NTSC conversion of the 8 episode UK DVD. Needless to say, I didn't feel that one warranted mentioning above... Besides, it was once again the same old episodes yet again.

  • Well like with many other cartoons RGB had a large fan following over here. So I guess Columbia wanted to go the extra mile with us I do believe Marvel UK published the RGB comics and very likely would have written stories that were unseen in the US, the same could be said about Transformers etc. The cartoon itself was repeated from time to time, up until about 1998-ish, as it was a major hit on CITV.

  • When toys of Extreme Ghostbusters came out, the toy retailers gave away a free episode of The Real Ghostbusters on video with every purchase, you had to choose Adventures in Slime & Space or Ghost Busted.

  • i love that set but i dont know if its going to be released in the uk plus if it isent going to be released in the uk i need to get a cheap region free player so i can get the set

what are you thoughts on the ghostbuster game and the impending release of ghostbusters on blu ray

ps keep up the great videos

  • I guess the set might be released in the UK, depending on sales of the DVD's in the US perhaps. A website called Video Help has codes for most DVD players to make them multi-regional, perhaps it can help you.

  • It would be awesome to have this set released in the UK but i sadly cant see it happening and having checked UK Ebay only one of the volumes are present which sucks.

  • I just bought it from a guy in the UK.

  • I'm VERY pumped about the new game, especially the fact that it has ALL the original actors back to voice their characters, and was written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. Should be a blast!

As for GB on Blu-ray...hellz yeah! Can't wait to grab that one.

  • I have a copy of the set and I can tell you that the discs are region-free so they will play on any Region 2 DVD player or any Multi-Regional DVD player

  • try to stay focused.*snaps fingers* never mind the food show us the dvds.

  • But...it smelled sooooo god! Like deep fried crispy onions in the shape of rings or something...

  • i want to pick this up but the price is what kills it for me even though its probably worth it. i'm waiting on the x-men vol 1 and 2

  • Wait no longer! They're both released today. :D

  • i know right but hey are you gonna pick them up as well?

  • Definitely. Been waiting for what seems like three ice ages for them finally release that show. It's going to have to wait until next payday though, rent time this pay. :P

  • yea tell me about it i only have the 3 or 4 vhs with a couple of episodes on them it was some kind of promo for pizza hut i do believe it was when the show was actually still on fox saturdays lol

  • Ah yes, I think those were actually some of the very first video releases EVER for the show! I see those editions on ebay fairly often. I was actually collecting the Polygram VHS releases at the time, since the show wasn't even airing in my area. So the only way I could see it was the videos...which were released at a rate of 2 episodes roughly every 3 months... And of course, EVERY FREAKIN' EPISODE ends on a cliffhanger, so you can imagine the torture...lol I still have most of those.

  • well i went ahead and bought vol 1 and 2 on dvd today and watching vol 1 right now so yea :D

  • Awsome video as usual . 5 stars
