Unfortunately, Amnesty International seems to use Finkelstein's logic about proportion, criticizing Israel because the Gaza War resulted in 100x the number of Palestinian fatalities. When I read the report it seems they'd be pleased if the Israeli body count was higher.

The truth is, Israel clearly has superior military forces compared to Lebanon and the Palestinians. Israel doesn't need to apologize for having a superior army -- it has taken 60 years of hard work (and clearly not just US aid) necessitated by being surrounded by hostile nations.

The Israeli government's priority is to protect its own citizens. When militants attack, I of course implore Israel to heed international law ... but still to use the IDF to protect its own civilians!
