I tend to see it in different terms. Namely, every person has to settle each piece of art's claim to praise. I love art from the Renaissance but simply don't "see" or understand much of contemporary art. By analogy, the Beatles are pleasant, they just don't speak to me. My point is that many people are conditioned to believe that older art supersedes more recent art. I simply see it differently. Everyone that is an artist must follow their own voice. Same for artistic taste?

The idea I have to "love" the Beatles because society says so is the joke. I like their music, but please. Coldplay is amazing- especially this song, Talk, Speed of Sound, Square One and Low. That is just me though.
