In 2006 the Replica Titanic project was scrapped due to high costs and a low amount of support for the project. The last Titanic survivor Millvina Dean was against the Titanic II ship. Kid, like I said, 20 plus years of reseach under my belt. Sarel Gous was the guy that was going to do it.

If RMS Titanic was Re-built, It would be a very Emotional event for everyone of the world. It would be very thought-raising and memorising all the people who were lost whilst it was being built (8 people to be prescise) and also on the fateful day that the ship sunk with many hopes, dreams, new lives and life itself was dragged under the Ocean, because of one terrible Ice-berg.

I have so amazing news to tell: An shipyard in Argentina is involved to rebuild Titanic's sister ship, Olympic! That's not the only news, if the Olympic (in cruise and 1920's style) has a good and successful maiden voyage. The Titanic and Britannic will glide from the slip way into the water!
Sad thing is, no matter how hard we try, we could never rebuild the Titanic exactly, and if we did, she would not be permitted to sail, and would be relegated to the role of a hotel or museum ship. Several major structural changes would have to happen to make the ship seaworthy, such as a full double hull (as opposed to double BOTTOM), revised rudder, engines & propulsion, full-height bulkheads, revised interior due to the raised bulkheads and double hull, the list goes on.

Is it really worth the $450 million (cost to construct the boat) for one cruise? And the ship wouldn't be allowed to sail, the design is against todays health and safety laws. So by law it cant happen.
Wow thats odd I thought of this tonight. Did a search and you seem to have the same idea. Although I can tell you for sure. Even if funding was in place, 2 years would not be enough. The hull is only 30% of the work. I imagine weld it instead of the hot rivets. The interior would be the thing. I would love to see a Titanic II rebuilt. If it is built, I would love to ride it! But I think that guy who dreamed this up might have been smoking! It could be a copyright infragment. Plus, thanks to politics, some historic things on the ship would have to be altered such as diesel rather than steam and the elevators would have to be automatic rater than manually driven elevatos with the pretty gates because of OSHA!!!

It isn't, the material which the Titanic need is over 600 million dollars, also an millionaire made an company White Star Line Ltd in 1998, he tried to rebuild the Titanic but some months later he quit at working at it. Many Replica Titanic foundations collapsed, because it's impossible to rebuild her. At least with cruise-ship material and cruise-ship interior.
@Abricialio what are you going on about? rebuilding the titanic or any Olympic class ships would be less or the same that a new cruise ship would be today. remember, they are still small compared to current liners, they are less luxurious due to technology of current times, and all additional safety equipment is now standard. also it would not be as labor intensive as back then due to modern welding. after 3 years of engineering, its possible with little hassle if you have a company to build her

It would be a fantastic dream to rebuild this magnificent ship, I saw the film 8 times before buying the video, and I have watched various documentaries, on Titanic, and love it.
There are a lot of reasons for the foundering of Titanic on that fateful night, and if the clock were to be turned back maybe things would have been handled differently.
I always liked the idea of putting the actual wreckage in a huge reinforced glass box and raising it because theres this big scare that if we raised the Titanic then it would fall part so if we raise the ship and the environment its in then it would be the same as if it were on the bottom but it's on surface. Of course thats impractical in too many ways to count, but it's just a thought.

If the Titanic is going to rebuild.. the Olympic and Britannic should be rebuild also. Britannic never carried any passenger and was in war service directly after her launch w hen WW1 started and sunk in 1916. And Titanic never reached the beautifel city New York.

I don't think the SS united states will ever be restored, i would like to see it restored as i think they should keep some ships from past era's but i just don't think it is special enough.
It wasn't the biggest,it wasn't the best and i don't think there would really be a great deal of interest in it if it was restored.
A new olympic class liner on the other hand would draw worldwide attention but that will never happen either.

Millvina Dean, the last survivor that died on May 31, 2009 said she would never take a step aboard an ship named Titanic 2. And to respect Millvina Dean we shouldn't use the name Titanic anymore. Also many Titanic survivors were against an replica Titanic, and if you build the ship with cruise-ship material it will be completed in ONE and a half year.

I think they should rebuild it but to match modern days in a way. For example I did a drawing depicting the Titanic then another of an identical version but twice the size with 6 smoke stacks. The exterior of the ship could look exactly the same, but in today's world and the laws we have in place today, The engines today would have to be diesel powered, and the elevators would have to have regular doors of today, but they could cut windows in them and weld a gate to the outside of the car door and have the car door be glass though.

I would love to see a Titanic 2. There was an article in Popular Mechanics one time about a building of a Titanic 2. There are some things that have to be built differently than the old ship. Such as the elevators and the engines. The one on the old one was steam driven with the center propeler being turbine driven. The elevators can't have the pretty gates like the one had because of OSHA. I would add more lifeboats because of marine law requires them.

I have so amazing news to tell: An shipyard in Argentina is involved to rebuild Titanic's sister ship, Olympic! That's not the only news, if the Olympic (in cruise and 1920's style) has a good and successful maiden voyage. The Titanic and Britannic will glide from the slip way into the water!

Sad thing is, no matter how hard we try, we could never rebuild the Titanic exactly, and if we did, she would not be permitted to sail, and would be relegated to the role of a hotel or museum ship. Several major structural changes would have to happen to make the ship seaworthy, such as a full double hull (as opposed to double BOTTOM), revised rudder, engines & propulsion, full-height bulkheads, revised interior due to the raised bulkheads and double hull, the list goes on.

You might want to look at the spelling of petition at 1:|29.......I was under the impression that petitions were aimed at local councils/governments to get laws overturned/passed...who exactely is this petition going to be sent to and just who will finance your petition?? It aint ever going to happen my friend....would be better off petitioning the worlds leaders to end third world suffering/debt etc...at least that would be more worthwhile. in a news report I had read that the titanic memorial cruise is nearly full for the trip 2012 it will take the same route the oringal titanic did ,,,now I dont think its a duplicate of the titanic or perhpas it is ,, not sure,,,but I know the memorial cruise is nearly full for 2012

Is it really worth the $450 million (cost to construct the boat) for one cruise? And the ship wouldn't be allowed to sail, the design is against todays health and safety laws. So by law it cant happen.

Wow thats odd I thought of this tonight. Did a search and you seem to have the same idea. Although I can tell you for sure. Even if funding was in place, 2 years would not be enough. The hull is only 30% of the work. I imagine weld it instead of the hot rivets. The interior would be the thing. Plus all the new regs needed to make this a ship legal to carry these days.Not to mention the history this particular ship has. Largest I've been involved in has been 220' Titanic was what? near 900

I would love to see a Titanic II rebuilt. If it is built, I would love to ride it! But I think that guy who dreamed this up might have been smoking! It could be a copyright infragment. Plus, thanks to politics, some historic things on the ship would have to be altered such as diesel rather than steam and the elevators would have to be automatic rater than manually driven elevatos with the pretty gates because of OSHA!!!

I wish the technology was so strong that they sprayed a protection thing on the Titanic wreck that it wont get eat away. So she would still lay there even if an meteor ended humans lives. I think that Harland and Wolff is still a little bit involved with 60% of the world to rebuild the steamships and let them run on diesel from cruise ships.

It isn't, the material which the Titanic need is over 600 million dollars, also an millionaire made an company White Star Line Ltd in 1998, he tried to rebuild the Titanic but some months later he quit at working at it. Many Replica Titanic foundations collapsed, because it's impossible to rebuild her. At least with cruise-ship material and cruise-ship interior.

@Abricialio what are you going on about? rebuilding the titanic or any Olympic class ships would be less or the same that a new cruise ship would be today. remember, they are still small compared to current liners, they are less luxurious due to technology of current times, and all additional safety equipment is now standard. also it would not be as labor intensive as back then due to modern welding. after 3 years of engineering, its possible with little hassle if you have a company to build her

if you were to rebuild her use the original plans make her live on make her the exact same as she was 100 years ago. Who ever you sponsor this would make 10x more profit. The shit would not even have to move, it would be a museum in south hampton or wherever and then just push that titanic museum out of the way.

fine go ahead and build it then, you ll be waiting more than two years just for funds and permission then theres all health and safety rubbish to get through. I just thought, to be able to see and photograph and remember the wreck of the original is a monument to all who perished being enough to honour those. if the world had more money then I agree it would be a great idea. but the world in some areas is in major debt as it is, the UK ll never payback what we should never have borrowed.

There are presently two half scale replicas of Titanic...both museums, owned by John Jocylyn, of the Titanic Historical Society.... one in Branson, Missouri and its 'sister ship ' in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Look them up on your browser!

It would be a fantastic dream to rebuild this magnificent ship, I saw the film 8 times before buying the video, and I have watched various documentaries, on Titanic, and love it.
There are a lot of reasons for the foundering of Titanic on that fateful night, and if the clock were to be turned back maybe things would have been handled differently.

I always liked the idea of putting the actual wreckage in a huge reinforced glass box and raising it because theres this big scare that if we raised the Titanic then it would fall part so if we raise the ship and the environment its in then it would be the same as if it were on the bottom but it's on surface. Of course thats impractical in too many ways to count, but it's just a thought.

Do you know any knowledge of the wreck of the Titanic? It's collapsing and may be gone in 2040. Building an replica of the Titanic with cruise-ship material will make the Titanic costs around 30 million, but with the normal material of golden age it would be 430 million dollars.
Anyways, if they build a replica they will build a museum will all pictures of the lost people aboard of Titanic.

BUT..... I'll say back then attention to detail and the ideas were fantastic! unlike some of the shit I've seen built these days, and also we have all kinds of gear to protect and make engineers lives easier. back than then had fuck all!!!! and just check out the size and engineering and furnishings, never see that again :(

I'm sorry to say this, and even though I agree she was a great vessel. Whats the point in building a replica? mainly cause 1.Money? wheres that coming from? tax payer had to bail the banks out this century already! 2nd whats wrong with just photos videos and memories of the ship? I'm sorry peoples but it would be a waste of time and money. Also the bloody health and safety twats would have to be involved in every thing.
No hard hats safety specs, ear defenders or hi-vis in early 1900s :)

If the Titanic is going to rebuild.. the Olympic and Britannic should be rebuild also. Britannic never carried any passenger and was in war service directly after her launch w hen WW1 started and sunk in 1916. And Titanic never reached the beautifel city New York.

I don't think the SS united states will ever be restored, i would like to see it restored as i think they should keep some ships from past era's but i just don't think it is special enough.
It wasn't the biggest,it wasn't the best and i don't think there would really be a great deal of interest in it if it was restored.
A new olympic class liner on the other hand would draw worldwide attention but that will never happen either.

that has been my dream forever. i wish to rebuild her. as i am studying to be a maritime engineer, i would upgrade her hull to a double standard hull and bottom, as well as new engines and full watertight compartments. but she will be a perfect image of how she once was. nothing changed other than safety requirements and propulsion systems. she WILL live again i promise you, its when thats the question.

Millvina Dean, the last survivor that died on May 31, 2009 said she would never take a step aboard an ship named Titanic 2. And to respect Millvina Dean we shouldn't use the name Titanic anymore. Also many Titanic survivors were against an replica Titanic, and if you build the ship with cruise-ship material it will be completed in ONE and a half year.

@Abricialio so you took it upon a small committee to rename her after the last survivor?. and what plan? any plan that would have funds sufficient enough to build her would be notable and i would have known. by 3 years of engineering i meant the time i have been an engineer, not that it wouldnt take shorter or longer to build a new ship. take into account designing, drafts, structure, safety, materials, workers, and sponsors. that, my friend is not one and a half years. im not opposing you.

@Abricialio what? it has to have all of the SOLAS rules. they may be under different names but ultimately that was what was created by the titanic and for future ships.
and my opinion, is making the titanic, not the olympic. even though she lasted longer, she was not widely known. and she too killed people in war and peace. oh and make her a transatlantic ship, not a cruise ship. that would be horrible.

The Olympic 3 will be an transatlantic liner like the Queen Mary 2 does, but I mean she will be fully made out of cruise-ship material. I don't see the point of rebuilding an very old ship.

I think they should rebuild it but to match modern days in a way. For example I did a drawing depicting the Titanic then another of an identical version but twice the size with 6 smoke stacks. I think they should do that because it looks as good as the old one and it would be a remarkable achievement in size just like it was back then.

Rebuilding the Titanic with modern day Safety an design Features would be a Fantastic move. It would be a " Theme" event. It would also give today's people the experience of seeing where and what we came from. It was a tragic Mistake why all thre original sisters were wrecked and or torn down. Those ships are and were History, Not just Financial Considerations.

don't get me wrong, i love the titanic. and i would love to see it in person and walk her decks. But part of me thinks that it would be taking something away from the real titanic. The new one would just be a cheap copy. I would give just about anything to see it. But some how it just seems wrong to me. Anyone else feel this way?

kutzak, you are right about that. The exterior of the ship could look exactly the same, but in today's world and the laws we have in place today, The engines today would have to be diesel powered, and the elevators would have to have regular doors of today, but they could cut windows in them and weld a gate to the outside of the car door and have the car door be glass though.

I would love to see a Titanic 2. There was an article in Popular Mechanics one time about a building of a Titanic 2. There are some things that have to be built differently than the old ship. Such as the elevators and the engines. The one on the old one was steam driven with the center propeler being turbine driven. The elevators can't have the pretty gates like the one had because of OSHA. I would add more lifeboats because of marine law requires them.

what they should do is build another titanic same design same length although change the 3rd class rooms to fit passengers, have the ship take the same original route in april 2012 and stop at the sinking of the original on the 14th and 15th to remember the terrible tragedy of the sinking,
