Not only does religion plague third-world countries like this, often ignorance and religion, along with greed causes the most harm. Unfortunately, religion, ignorance, and greed go hand and hand. Even in America, just not to such an extreme. It's pathetic.
Religion is the most fatal poison ever developed by human beings. It's an excuse to do just about anything to anyone. One who says that he believes in God is considered more sane and healthy than someone who doesn't.
More people have been killed, hurt, abused, tortured and raped in the name of God than by any other reason/excuse.
these people should go shopping to release their anxieties. lets pave over their jungles into parking lots and turn their churches into Walmarts. then their kids can do what kids are supposed to do: have sex, get high and buy stuff.
As disgusting as this was I am not surprised in the least. Religion has demonstrated it's atrocities from the very beginning and it will never end till religion ends.
Sick, but unfortunately, NOT SURPRISING because TOO FEW so-called "christians" (RC's included) DON'T CARE ENOUGH TO DO (requires ACTION) anything about it!! Don't send dollars, GO!
People believe that Islam is more barbaric than Christianity, while Islam in 1 world countries is quite harmless.
So here we see that also Christianity is equally barbaric, when given to simple people, when their morality only comes from that god, this is what happens.
It's only when Religion is watered down through cultures that has gone through the age of enlightenment etc. , that it becomes close to acceptable.
^ That right there is Christianity in is early adulthood. It is nothing new all nations who have adopted Christian views went through it. THE ONLY THING TO BLAME HERE IS RELIGION. But they fail to mention that.
What's happening here is a blending of two faiths. They're using Jesus & Holy Spirit in place of whatever gods/ancestors/spirits they used to worship. I'm sure they had something like this before the church came in. That "priest" would have been a Shaman. I am not defending the abuse, those children are clearly not possessed or using witchcraft. However, this is an extremely common belief in ancient tribes like this. It's not something you can just convert out of them with a bible or science.
@EyeLickChildren True. And they're the reason there is now a Christian spin to it, but I'm just saying they didn't cause this or teach them to do this. And believe me, I'm an atheist who is no fan of the Catholic Church. But, I'm also an Anthropologist who is majoring in Cultural/Religious Anthropology, so that's why I can see this with more of an emic perspective.
@missatralissa I totally agree. I don't blame the religion for this (outside of the prior religion of the local people before Christianity was introduced), I'm blaming the Vatican itself for having a hand in it and letting it continue under their watch.
@EyeLickChildren That's true. Western missionaries will often go into a tribe like this, convert the people and then just leave. It's no wonder they then reintroduce their old customs, beliefs and rituals. If the Catholic Church wants to claim they converted these people for god they do need to take responsibly for what they have attached their name to.
@missatralissa Humans and their bullshit stupid culture (including my own) are not the only thing, nor the most important thing, on this planet. There are many other species, too. Some are tortured and suffer far more than others: e.g. factory farmed animals, animals in labs, suffer FAR more than animals in the wild. Humans cause the former, not the latter. Those issues are INFINITELY more important than just preserving human culture for culture's sake.
@mphello I have no idea what any of that has to do with this video or my posts. I think you should go find some PETA videos or something if you want to have that conversation. I am simply debating Anthropology here.
@missatralissa You realize this priest is on the same level as those 'Nigerian Prince' emails that ask for a couple grand in exchange for fabulous treasures and wealth? He doesn't believe what he is doing. He is making a profit by inciting fear in these people. If the priests are eliminated, so will the practices be.
@korynnleefx He actually probably does believe what he's doing. His people have probably believed in spirit procession & witchcraft for longer than the Catholic Church has existed. Shamans all charge for their work, it's how they make a living. There are more elements going on here outside of the Chruch's influence & what this report showed. I know it's hard but you have to understand the history of these people & the traditions they have. You have to try and see it through an emic perspective.
In third world countries in particular, people will do and say what they have to to make a living. He is taking advantage of his people's history in order to convince them he needs money. I'm POSITIVE he doesn't believe in this nonsense because if he did, he wouldn't be charging for it. Obviously witchcraft and shamanism has existed in his culture longer than Xtianity. Derp. The element not being shown here is desperation.
@korynnleefx Sorry if the fact that I'm studying to get my degree in Cultural Anthropology makes you feel I'm condescending. But, I don't think you have any right to judge a culture you know nothing about. Getting a spiritual healing in a country like this is equal to going to see a doctor to treat your cancer in the west. They have to charge their patients. It has nothing to do with him not believing. Stop being so ethnocentric.
@missatralissa The history of these people has nothing to do it - forget history - forget traditions - this is about CRIMES and these criminals are using the Lord's name to fill their pockets and its despicable! They are teaching things they ought not to for filthy lucre's sake. Enough is enough! RELIGION IS NOT TO BE RESPECTED!
@vaticancrimes Oh, wow. Okay, I'm an atheist and a humanist who doesn't believe in any of the man-made theologies nor have I seen any convincing proof of deities or super natural beings. But, as a student of world religions and cultural anthropology I don't have that militant hate that you seem to have. I try my hardest to not be ethnocentric when it comes to other cultures, which includes their religions. I may not respect them, but I aim to understand them.
@missatralissa Well, so the fuck what if somebody has that "militant hate"?
That's their absolute free speech and freedom of thought right.
The only thing that matters in this world is HOW MUCH of something.
How much is one thought heard relative to another.
The great thing about everything outside of math is that one can make up any kind of bullshit. One doesn't have to quantify anything. Atheists DESERVE a bigger voice in Africa because their numbers are too small.
Not sure this is catholic priests or just charletons following their lead in charging money for divine intervention. The "priest' in this video looks more like HE is using witchcraft than those innocent children.
@oatstao If it wasn't for christianity (religion in general) in Africa, people would be using condoms, but the priests preach against condom use because its a sin.
Bloody Savages. Simple as that.

The christard terrorists who make these bullshit witchcraft accusations
and dumb subhuman shitheads who believe them need to be annihilated.
If they can believe worthless shit, like demons and gods, then clearly they've got a very easy stress-free life of doing nothing.
Only atheists have a hard difficult life, doing the hard work for everybody else.
MOST Africans are not that stupid. They should do everything possible to exterminate these moronic religiontards.
