  • how can find out if the wings have new growth feathers

  • is possible the feather wings grow again?

  • @mooboo777 Fuck off, this is the internet.

  • its not only cockatiel every bird needs to flly

  • @Theafgstar1 penguins?

  • @Hellion6325 use ur commonsense smartass

  • @Theafgstar1 well u said every bird. derp

  • @Hellion6325 but u dont use ur commonsense

  • @Theafgstar1 y would i use common sense when talking to someone that doesn't know sarcasm

  • @Hellion6325 bak to u

  • @Theafgstar1 k?

  • @Theafgstar1 you clip a birds wings so you can gain its trust a bit easier. and you do know that the feathers grow back dont you? if you clip a birds wings the feathers will grow back and they will be able to fly again, so there is no point going about trolling

  • thank but how do i let its wing grow back

  • They lose their feathers any way it's not like they just got their wing cut off it was the feather

  • 1) Exceptional video, I love it - It's straight to the point and very in-detail

    2) Clipping the feathers CANNOT HURT THEM! Feathers are made of basically the same thing as hair and nails. And getting a haircut doesn't hurt, does it? =P

    3) Yes, they're meant to fly - But more often than not, it's a safety issue. There's differentiating sides of this arguement but would you rather have a bird which can fly off to be eaten or killed? or have one safe within the house?

    Your Choice..

  • I have but no other option my cockatiel flew up into my fan and was bleeding from his wing. he was fine though. he is going to be much nicer

  • my cockatiel just lost one wing, he was in a big cage outside (not on the floor, the cage was on top of a desk) along with his dad.. we think it was a fox that wanted to eat him. Now my poor thing is all sad and has a big wound where her left wing was :( i already took him to the vet told me to spray a medicine in the wound and to give him an antibiotic (drops) =(

  • do they poop all over the place?

  • Is it just the two on the end you clip??? Also, one one of my cockatiels only has one side of flight feathers there. They have never grown in. He looks healthy and he sings and is happy. Should I be worried he only has one side if flight feathers?

  • @13SuperAwesome13 holy shit no...they have veins in the wings.. NEVER cut them like thta, always hold them and sniip the CLEAr ends of the wings near the birds....!!

  • this is very helpful! thank you!

  • My bird flew out today and i cant belive it ;(

  • @undead4pk aww soo sad, :(

  • I use a harness cos i think clipping a birds wings so they cant fly is like having your feet tied together so you cant run i disagree with this completely

  • This Video is great. It looks well put togther and is very usefull...

  • I Control My Bird With Fear. I Got The Idea From American Media. When Ever I Point To The Window Or Door, I Say "There Are Bad Birdys Out There", & He Understands. Even If He Is On My Shoulder & I Walk Near The Window, He Hides Behind My Neck.Or Clams On My Shirt & Hides Behind My Back. I Hope He Never Tries, I Would Be Devastated If He Did. Good Video. Your A Brave Woman. I Couldn't Do That.

  • Who hasn't seen an outside bird who has flown into a window or sliding glass door and died? Same thing can happen to an inside bird. Personally, I don't want that to happen. The bird may not have its natural ability to soar, it has other benefits--plenty of food, clean water, and no natural enemies. I vote for wing trimming over the alternatives.

  • I've had my 5 month old cockatiel for about a month now. He was clipped when we bought him but now he's getting some flight feathers and I've noticed his attitude changing. He's a bit more cocky and doesn't stay on his perch for very long. He's more into jumping around the room half flying. Thank you for the video. I can't imagine leaving him out of the cage when I'm not home though, I'd have an apartment full of poop haha.

  • Thank you for this video. My male cockatiel was flying around and smackin his face into the walls and I don't want him to hurt himself. Sometimes he would fly around safely and then land perfectly on my head, but other times the wall was the next way to land :/ Now he is safe but i do feel bad he cannot fly, sad trade for safety but i would also fear him flying away and not be able to survive on his own with so many predators like cats.

  • @mooboo777 "lady" implies a woman or girl with not just a little sophistication. this BIMBO has some MAJOR control issues if she trains her bird(s) to be that obscenely tame. as tams as a battered woman who smiles with averted eyes before making a meal and after being beaten by her abusive other. that bird is tame as fuck. birds like being preened where they can't reach themselves by another bird. fingernails, anyone? stfu

  • @damonzwicker1

to the hideous mess of a girl wearing blue shirt petting cockatiel's head at 2 minutes:

why do you pet its heads like it is a dog... ? it doesn't seem to enjoy being handled that way. hmmm maybe because IT IS a BIRD, you insensitive, FUCKING RETARD. at least your nails are trimmed round

  • Thats cool how he went up the ladder at the end, like a regular human instead of trying to fly..

  • Wow such negative comments. The person who said that would you break your dogs legs is off base.In theory anybody who owns a pet in captivity is bad right? Anyone who has there animal fixed spayed or neutered is evil? Most U.S. Cities now require your animals to be fixed! It's the same principal. I applaud her video very informative and you can tell she is a bird lover. Thank you I will be looking out for more videos.

  • What a SHAME! First you kiss your bird and then you destroy its soul by clipping his wings.

Are you not afraid that all bad things will come back?

  • @linnieworld If you believe that clipping a bird's wings destroys its soul, do you also believe getting a haircut or a shave destroys the soul?

  • @HooshIsASoup

If I visit the barber it is my intension to look better and feel good. Wing clipping reduces healthy birds to cripples. I would shoot my barber down if he confined me on a wheelchair!

Please visit my channel and see my birds flying. I am not one of these lazy birdholder, I work with my birds, train them and give them the chance to live like BIRDS.

    See you,

    Monika :-)

  • @linnieworld You are seriously, seriously overstating what wing clipping does to a bird. If you were talking about *pinioning,* where the wing bones are removed, then yes, I would agree with your sentiment.

However, I find your opinions wholly unreasonable and quite a bit insulting to bird owners that just want to keep their pets safe and healthy.

  • is it ok to clip ony 1 wing?

  • @LittleMissSuperGirl7 I strongly recommend clipping both wings. A bird has to be able to land safely if it falls or jumps from a table and such. If you clip only one wing, the bird will be unbalanced and unable to land safely.

  • @LittleMissSuperGirl7

One or two wings ... it is a sin! After a wing clip a healthy bird is reduced to move crippled. Think as your pet! Would you change places?

  • what size cage do you reccommend for 1 or 2 cockatiels?

  • @Cyclone1824 Actully, it's kind of necercery to clip your pet bird's wings. And, I mean really, making you ride a bike? It's more like making your child walk instead of run, if they run they may slip over of crash into something.

  • On the other hand unclipped birds, especially males during mating season, are sometimes a pain to control. So, personally i prefer to generally leave my birds wing unclipped, but i do clip them twice a year just to reassure my dominance.

  • It is actually a matter of personal choice. Clipped birds are less likely to escape, and naturally are more dependent on you, BUT unclipped birds are stronger and more confident. My experience from my birds has taught me that clipped birds are more likely to get harmed when they try to fly through a window, or on a wall, because they cannot control their flight. Unclipped birds that have mastered flight dodge walls and windows more easily than clipped ones.

  • Y is everyone so negative???

I think da vid is really informative....

  • Great video, very informative!

I'm still not sure if I can have a bird though, for this very reason. I very much want one, but I don't want to clip their wings! I envy birds for their ability to fly, and even though I understand the importance of clipping for their safety, it still just feels wrong to me.

They may not even care, but I do.

I'd like to find a way to safely keep a bird without clipping its wings. But I'm still unsure. I want a solution to my dilemma because I really would love a b

  • @emiiba1 you can keep a bird without clipping it! when birds are young they will crash , its expected, but this is because they have not bulit up the strength in thier wing muscles to avoid crashing however also during this time they fly slower so the crash risk is much less, once a bird has flown out of its cage a few times it will stop crashing and even in a panic be able to find a familar perch, I am talking from experience of course, I own 2 bourkes parakeets and previously a budgie :3

  • U people are so mean and if u think this is cruel it's not. U people don't even know her so dont say anything about her it's not her falt she loves and cares about her birds.

  • ass hole

  • I cannot understand this. Cutting wings of birds is a step backwards. It is a cruelty for the birds soul. We must accept that birds are meant to fly. They should not be forced to walk. It is a duty for every birdowner to make the house birdie-proof. Take care for our pets like children. Think about it. Please!

  • u r a little bich u are a loser and probobly u r still a virgin u fuckin hoe u r ugly and wrinkly as shit u mutha fuckin bich FUCK YOU MOTHER FUCKER

  • @scullcrusher1000

    . . . What was that for?

  • You guys dont understand how important it is to cut the wings. I lost my first cockatiel because her wings were not cut. We had trained her to fly in a circle around the living room and return to her cage. Unfortunately, one day the door was open and she squeezed through. She circled in the yard for a long time but could not find out how to get back in. We lost her all because of her ability to fly...it would not have happened if her wings were cut...so please, listen to her.

  • @c0llzter624 so if I own a dog and he runs out the door everytime I open it, should I break his legs to prevent him doing so? of course not I would make it so he could never get near the door to escape I would change the environment not him, over here in the UK wing clipping is shunned as a mistreatement to the bird , if you cut a birds wings it can cause depression, agression and detrerioration in muscle growth, if you want an animal with these risks get a rat or a hamster

  • @XxflightfeathersxX Birds can still still flutter around with clipped wings. It only insures that nothing bad happens to them. When my birds wings weren't cut, he would constantly fly into windows. And like i said, they can still flutter and use the muscles they always use. I dont live in the UK, and i honestly don't give a shit about what your country dislikes. I wasn't forcing my beliefs on anyone, i was just telling my story.

  • you said a bird cannot be safe without clipped wings, but you are wrong, infact a clipped bird is prone to other dangers such as being stepped on, falling , or attacked by another house hold pet, a clipped bird can also go missing outside as a startled bird or a strong wind gives it enough lift, but a lost clipped bird will most likley die while a flighted bird has a chance of surviving. also birds wont fly into windows once there muscles are strong enough and they understand its there

  • Thats wrong...I have a cockatiel and you do not cut both wings!!! You just cut one of them so they wont fly :)))

  • @lvblmarie

You're supposed to clip both. Clipping one will make their flight uneven, and they can injure themselves.

  • Man it is so important to clip their wings, my cockatiel broke his leg from his little take offs. He is perfectly fine now, but I make sure he is safe from doing something dumb. He is so spoiled he thinks he is a dog, likes to boss the chihuahuas around. lol

  • Very informative and well presented. Well scripted and shot too! Congrats! I now how to clip my 'tiel's wings. Keep up the good video work.

  • Got it, Kiss-Cut-Cut-Kiss-Kiss and no more flying bird, why not get a dog? Its depriving the birds from its natural abilities that make one feel bad, so kiss, kiss, cut cut!!

  • thanks for this video.

  • You definitely took away all guilt i had about clipping my 'teils wings.

    thanks for the vid!

  • love your Vids you sound so professonal

  • Dont ever clip a birds wings ever. Birds have wings so isnt it obvious to people its wrong. You are promoting ignorance. Too many Vets have to attend to serious injurys from a bird falling and captured by predators !!! Your bird will feel handicapped and your promoting this.. Grow a brain and buy a harness and learn how to let a bird not fly into a window or out the door.

  • @blast4music grow up if they never new how to fly they don't now what there missing out on no one cares about your oppion why did u evan watch this

  • @darrylwhite123 what would you ever know what a bird thinks or knows. Showing people how to meddle with a birds anatomy for our convenience is fine for you cause humans can do what they want... anyway i given up on what people do cause who cares , we are totally stuffing the environment of the world ... so yea i grown up now.

  • i kinda wished i had done his my poor cockatiel female flew away today :(

  • @citydriver dont wish you had done this .. stuff happens so learn other preventions. cheers

  • Ty for making this video. I used to think that my birds were better off flying around so i only trimmed it some so it would be dificult to fly but not imposible.

Then one of my pair flew out the door. Right to the top of the trees. i didnt know she could fly so well.

The point is clip your birds wings if u dont its harder to develope a personal realationship with them and your amusement is not worth the risk

  • THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO.THIS VIDEO HELPED ME CLIP MY COCKATIELS WINGS TOO!

  • we need to this to my cockatiel, he escaped and took 3 hours to get him back, this is helpful thanks :)

  • I don't think its right to clip there wings. So, I'm not gonna clip them at all, because its amazing to see them fly, thats what birds were made for, and also I'm afraid that I'll hurt them, so when I let them out of there cage, I'll close all the windows, turn off all the fans, make sure all the doors are closed, and close the sliding door with the blinds so they don't run into it.

  • I was careful but my Dad wasnt. i lost my cockatiel and trust me you dont want too

  • @zZVulpixZz Omg, I'm so sorry. You must be devasted, I wouldn't know what to do if I lost my cockatiel. I hope you find him :'(.

  • How did they learned to climb the ladder?

  • I personally prefer to raise them in a wide space, when they can be free to fly without crashing themselves.

  • We "clip" each others "wings" every day to be in control. Unfortunately this is our world people. Clip to keep.

  • Besides I would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to my birds. Plus I have many neices and a nephew and many young cousins who I would like to know are safe from the attatudes flighted birds can develope.

  • @BlackRoses4eturnity Hey!I just said my opinion!Sorry if I am wrong!According to me,I dont want to disable their ability of flying!Again, sorry if I am wrong!

  • Ok, harrrypottter I have two beautiful cockatiels and i keep there wings cliped because the lady I got them from was getting sick in her old age and couldn't take proper care of them. The male is two and the female is four. I keep there wings cliped because Alex was never properly trained and by keeping his wings cliped I keep him from hurting himself and the Bella. He has hurt himself befor by flying into things to get away from the ladys kids who tried to catch him and cage him for travel.

  • So,trimming their wings makes them not to escape and makes them a good pet, right?Ok.Now I may cut your legs so that you will not escape from the house and you will be dependent on your mom.So you will be a good pet for your mom.(I wont ever cut my wings of my birds.Thumbs up if you wont do this too!)Sorry if i am wrong!

  • @hrrrypottter Why are you putting this in every clipping wings video? Seriously who cares what you think. People do what they want for their own reasons. Like for not losing their birds they love so much. Stop spamming each video that's about cutting bird's wings.

  • @AngelOfCourage No!I only posted this on 2 of the vids!Am not spammin!:P Jus sayin what i think! No one is forcing you.Its your own decission!Thats all I can say!

  • loved

  • how can u tell the difference between a male and a female cockatiel

  • @Reptobat well if you have charcoal colored birds the females will have dull red spots on their cheeks

  • oh my gosh thank you so much!!!! I clipped my birds wings for the first time and he didn't even feel it! he was walking around like nothing happened. thank you sooo much!! I'm a huge fan and subscribing you!

  • @jjcuttiep did you cut those 2 feathers?

  • i really want to clip her wings.....and she juz keep screaming and i cant even put her wings open.....

  • @MarsTheNewFrontier It is paintless, that is if you don't clip any of the blood feathers or too close to the follicules

  • Thanks! You got straight to the point and it was simple. Good video.

  • Very nicely edited video. You could get paid to put something like this on a how-to video website like howcast.

  • no all off them an i love ur website!! nice..an i love ur cockatiel

  • thanks but do you only clip off those 2 little feathers? on each wing....?
