  • Sorry, I'd rather go for a long tab...2 months of ranger school compared to almost a year and a half of the Special Forces Q course...there's really no comparison...

  • 188 started and 105 finished? what in the fuck are they doing at RIP nowadays?! I graduated with 42 with around the same starting. And only a few years before these guys. Tsk tsk.

    3/75

  • Congrats to Steve!

I've haven't had the great opportunity to go to RIP or Ranger School yet, but from what I've been told, RIP is basically a 2 or 3 week smoke session. Is that right?

Another question...for the guys that don't go to RIP, but go to Ranger School for the tab, do they still get a tan beret but sent back to their units (obviously not being authorized to wear it)?

  • This is rip school, the school Before ranger school starts. Congrats !

  • hooah!

  • some mos jobs make basic look like kindergarden

  • im going to be there someday

  • That is a sexy ceremony.

"Sir, 188 (Soldiers) assigned. 105 (RANGERS) are present for graduation Sergeant!"

    Congratulations to those Rangers

  • aww man rip stil lexists Xp eff i though i was safe ^_^ aww well itll b worth it in the end

  • Oh and do you HAVE to do Ranger school after rip, or is it still voluntary? I ask, because I read on here that it is separate.

  • I have a question, do you get tabbed RANGER and get the tan beret when you pass RIP? Or when you pass Ranger school in its entirety? 8 minutes ago

  • @deguimerautube I would assume you get the beret(at least) after RASP. I'm just saying that because these guys put them on.

  • @deguimerautube I know your comment is a year long but..... when you finish RASP (which used to be RIP) you get the tan beret and the Ranger Scroll. You get the tab when you go and finish Ranger School.

  • @deguimerautube Thanks for the timely response, haha... Nah it's cool.

Thank you for the information, because I was not sure how it worked, I thought that they gave both at once when you became a Ranger... Is that why when they go to Ranger school they are called RANGER by the instructors? I saw a training video/documentary where they were trying for the TAB and they were being called Rangers before they even passed. Thank you very much.

  • Absolutely essential for a career-minded officer to get his tab, regardless of whether or not he is actually assigned to Ranger outfit or any combat arm. As a LT, that tab was respected a heck of a lot more than the butter bar I wore......

  • after rip do you get into a ranger team? is ranger school required?

  • @IPosidenI ill give u a little timeline what happens.... basic-----> Advanced individual training (AIT)-----> Airborne School----> RIP---- and from their i beileve u are sent to war or ranger school. and if u say that u signed a ranger contract, that contract only guarantees u a spot at RIP not ranger school. but eventually u will go to ranger school. but when u grad from RIP u are "ranger qualified" and ur put into the ranger regiment but until u grad from ranger school ur not a ranger.I think

  • You're right, but you have it backwards between RIP and Ranger School. When you graduate RIP you get your tan beret and you are a Ranger; graduating Ranger School means you are "ranger qualified." Rangers get annoyed at people who only have a Ranger tab (meaning they went to Ranger School, but were never in the 75th) who call themselves Rangers, because they aren't.

You could be a Ranger and not have gone to Ranger School yet. It's only a requirement for NCOs and officers.

  • @lancelottodd whaaa??? r u sure?? i thought it was the other way around haha. RIP=ranger qualified but ur in the 75th ranger regiment. and when u go to Ranger school= ranger tab=official Ranger? plus i thought u had to go to RIP first to go to ranger school

  • When you graduate RIP you're officially assigned to a Ranger battalion; you start preparing to be deployed. Ranger School is just a school, and anybody who isn't a woman can go, even other services like Marines. You don't need RIP to go. In practice, all Rangers will attend Ranger School sooner rather than later (call it 3 months to a year) and hopefully get their tab.. and you feel "complete," as a Ranger, and proud. but it's not officially a requirement unless you are an e-5 or above. Hooah?

  • @lancelottodd thanks for the info. so after RIP are u officially a ranger? and do u get further training ( house clearing, assaulting airfields, urban combat, etc)?

  • Yep. After you get to your unit you start training with them and all of that is part of what you'll be doing.. parachuting and fast roping out of helicopters, etc., all that shit. practice makes perfect.

  • @lancelottodd also, how do u get into ranger school? do u get an information? or just ask ur CO or what?

  • Rangers go when your command thinks your ready.

For other soldiers, they firstly have to volunteer, then they have to wait for a slot which could be a long time or a short time depending. More people volunteer than are slots available, so they go to whoever is more high speed..and combat units get more slots than non-combat units, so you'd have an easier time going in you're an Airborne combat medic than if you're an lpn in a hospital, etc.

  • Actually, probably less people who work in hospitals even want to go.. they're used to sleeping and eating out and shit, so they might actually have an easier time filling a slot, I really dont know. If ur going to join the Army, work in a hospital..it's like having a regular job only you wear a beret sometimes. Some of those people dont even shave. They live like college kids except once every 3 months they might play with rubber guns. And theres a bunch of females in hospitals for you to date.

  • Like fasteddie said for the most part. You can be in the ranger regiment with out a tab but if you are offered a spot where you will lead rangers you need a tab.

  • Passing RIP is the easy part. The hard part about being a Ranger is staying in. Its a high tempo job. If you think its for you, PT your ass off and never quit.

  • Thanks for the advice.

  • As a DEPer who's spent time beign advised and hanging out with the ranger community online, I have to agree with ManPigApe- There's nothing like "Don berrets" but that is just the beggining. And we ALL know it, if you're family, this is all cute, but not what we signed up for. Much respect to Ranger Steven, and if you're nto him, ask him and he'll agree having been in Batt... and if you are him, seriously; 'say nice things to me" isn't something you say to a Ranger, ex-or current.

  • hey asshole, if you dont have a nice comment to post, dont bother posting. ive seen the comments you make on other people's videos. you're a dick

  • Comment removed

  • @dcFalcons51 Ignore that manpigape guy, he's a real dick.

Did your brother get his tab?

  • Man,there is a lot of guys graduating! I thought it was a hard school?

  • It is a big ass class, probably a lot of recycles, This isn't Ranger School Graduation. This is RIP

  • Even still, 188 to 105, there had to be a lot of recycles, or just a lot of prepaired guys, that's only a small loss compared to most classes of those I've followed through RIP graduation.

  • Why wasn't this at Victory Pond?

  • because thats for ranger school, this was rip

  • Batt Boys!!!

A Tab is just a school! A Scroll, Is A Way Of Life!!!

  • why do the say 188 soldiers,but 105 rangers?

  • there were 188 soldiers at the start, and 105 at graduation.

  • My gosh! This is a huge class. My brothers graduating class was much smaller?

  • yeah, this is the grad to the pre ranger course thing called RIP, thats why they said, 188 sodliers, and 105 rangers! thats me someday.

  • is this from ranger school or rip?

  • this is rip graduation

  • @dcFalcons51 I want to be a Ranger but i'm going Marines 1st but how long is rip?

  • @mckinley1175 why would you switch from being a Marine to going Army Ranger. I decided not to go Marine Corps because my whole family is Army. Marines dont usually go from the Corps to the Army.

  • @20FUTUREMARINE12 I want to be a Ranger but my friend was a Marine and I was suppose to go with him right after high school but didn't and he died in Afghanistan and I feel gotta do it for him.

  • @mckinley1175 he died a fuckin hero bro. you join any branch and i guarantee he will be lookin down at you from fuckin them pearly gates proud as shit. if you want to be a Marine then do it for you. if you want to be a Ranger then do it. i can promise you man your friend is a fuckin American hero and no matter what he would be fuckin proud of you. Keep your head up man.

  • @20FUTUREMARINE12 Just saw this thanks man I am keeping it up and he is a hero no doubt.

  • sorry part two won't fit on youtube but i will soon post the ending of the graduation
