Wait they said in this video this would be the first English language station in southern Florida to operate with an ABC Affillate, there wrong on this fact--because WBBH NBC2 in Ft. Myers operates WZVN ABC7.
Just for the news in this case, South Florida means West Palm Beach and South I-95; where as Ft. Myers and Naples are considered South West Florida...even though they are in South Florida Geographically. The same is said about the Tampa Market and Orlando Market.
Yeah you are right, South Florida is not really a geographical area, it is a Metropolitan area like when you think of Southern California, Bay Area, New York Metro Area, etc
Well, the sale of WTVJ to Post Newsweek has been cancelled, because of both the bad economy and the fact that the FCC never finalized the deal. NBC is still owner of WTVJ for now.
One Question, what are they going to do with that NEW facility that WTVJ is currently housed in. Didn;t they just moved to the Miramar Studios less than 10yrs ago?
yep, Post-Newsweek creates for their stations the awful image and branding, i dont be surprised if NBC6 changes their name to "Channel 6" or only "WTVJ".
WTVJ wouldnt be so bad, but i bet it will be Local 6. I wonder if they will keep their HD presentation, WPLG doesent have that yet. They will have to change their entire presentation since the grahpics they use are NBC O&O. Post Newsweek wont want to make WTVJ desirable since they cant allow WTVJ to be in the top 3 for South FL, or else they cant keep their duopoly. This isnt good for the station. Im sure the WTVJ employees will be the ones to go first.
i think youre right, because only of the stations can make newscasts (this case Local 10), the other (NBC6) can only make a special newscast (News at 10) or repeat Local 10 shows in another time.
I like Post-Newsweek and think they did great with WPLG and WKMG. This duopoly should be interesting to watch. I just hope they don't fire any people from either station. I want them to do something like WZVN and WBBH in Fort Myers do: single newsroom, but two sets of staff members.
I think they suck, we will have a Local 6 on our hands, they have a standardization rule. however, it is not quite as bad as if Hearst-Argyle purchased it, their standardization is worse.

I don't know, it might remain with NBC Universal to house WSCV. They haven't mentioned anything else about Peacock Plaza's fate.

NBC should've sold WTVJ to Fox and bought WSVN. Can the transaction be stopped?
godgundam10 3 years ago
or at least affiliate with WSVN (with NBC once again)

What will WTVJ do with their "old" building that they moved into a while ago?

It would have been great if Hearst would have bought WTVJ

...why is everyone thinking that a Local 6 standardization is BAD? Post only standardizes the names, not the overall image.
I honestly think the *NBC* standardization of the O&Os is worst of all.
