I know that they could have left all of this, however, since billy and sidney had sex, that and the combined violence landed it in NC17. They wanted R, so they toned down all the violence, just enough to get a high R.

I KNEW IT. the first time i saw scream was when i was in middle school my sisters friend made a copy and it had the uncut scenes but i recorded over it not knowing that then on when i saw Scream that it was the edited version. i always sat and wondered wasn't this scene longer wasn't that scene longer didn't it happen that way. and it did, in the uncut version i first saw. if i knew that i wouldn't have recorded over it. DAMN ME. but then again i MIGHT still have it. i freakin hope so.

I am truly confused... I have seen all these on both my UK VHS tape AND my R1 DVD, which I purchased direct from USA when it first came out, many years ago. Could anyone shed some light on this and explain to me how I own a US R1 DVD which has all these scenes in the film?

@DancinJim well none of the scenes are actually cut that much at all. except for casey's boyfriend steve's death. i have a special edition vhs that are a dime a dozen at value village and it doesn't say uncut but it has all of these scenes.

the uncut dvd wasnt released in america yet,only released as the "collection series" version which is the rated r version. it has been released across seas tho. but if somehow u stumble across one that isnt labeled "collection series",that just might be the unrated version. sad thing is,the unrated version(also known as the nc 17 version) isnt even labaled the unrated version. most of the vhs tapes for scream in 1997 were still labeled rated r,although they were actually the unrated versions...
