  • where did you get your hamster wheel

  • @jumbo123ish I get them online.

    That's a 4.5" Silent Spinner.

  • U TRAINED IT TO COME AND STAY ON YOUR AND T.T so jealous

  • I named my robo Yeppo. I miss her T~T

  • OMG your hamster has the excatly the same name as my robo! My robo died today :'( :'( :'(

  • @Cocoware123 I'm sorry to hear it.

It's been a long time since my Sweet Pea passed away, but I still miss her.

  • it saddens me to see this video and then the one of her doingg "yoga" :(

  • :) it's so cute... my male comes just to pick if i have a treat, roll over my hand a second and run if there's no food, the female looks less nervous with my hand around, but don't have the same confidence to jump in without food...

  • how do you tame it my one runs off all the time

  • how do you tame them my robo runs off

  • @Cjbrix sweet, thanks for the help (: you're really great with your robos! they love you (:

  • @Cjbrix thanks! but that's the thing, he's sort of scared of the treat too sometimes. he's scared of everytihng. i had to buy two water bottles because he was scared of his first one and wouldnt drink, what treats do you use?

  • @JillyMarieee I use dried papaya for a treat. I chip off robo-sized bits with my thumbnail as I need them.

He'll get less crazy as he gets older. Just keep paying gentle attention to him, and eventually he'll figure out that there's benefits to being friends.

  • hey so my new robo, Scout (it's a boy) seams to really be scared of me. my last one loveddd me. she would just chill with me and snuggle, but Scout run with the speed of ligh to get away from my hand when i put it in his cage. i don't know what to do :( do you think he'll out grow this when he gets a bit older? or no? :(

  • @JillyMarieee They do continue to change as they get older. As long as they're kept well, the older a robo gets the easier it will be to make friends.

Some robos are always going to be extra jumpy, and you just have to take things slow with them. And keep your supply of treats handy, that's your only leverage when they're still skittish.

  • How did you manage to tame a robo so well?

  • I'm impressed, you must be very good to get a Robo so tame :)

  • my hamsters do that

  • how do you tame a robo?mines like super crazy and still a little scared what do i do to get it calm and able to just grab it in 5 seconds instead of trying to chase her around for 20 minutes?

  • watched 4 or 5 videos from you. subscribed. =)

  • Im sooo soo soo JEALOUS !! Im even afraid of holding my hamster because of one incident when it actually bit me. Ever since, I was afraid and took time to pick them up

  • OMG

  • its hard to tame these. but its worth it lol

  • I'm so freaking jealous YES HOW DO YOU DO THAT !!! :{ mine always freaks and starts running around

  • @TheSonyaalvarez

    mine too :( ive had her for a year but i got it from my friend who was its previous owner she couldnt take care of it anymore. and the hamster runs away everytime it sees me ;___;

  • How do you do that.

  • My little buddy won't run into my hands from his cage, but he will if he's walking around on my bed or floor. :)

  • Thank you cjbrix ; )

  • Question . I just had a hammy he was a male robo he passed away 2 weeks ago. I miss him so much , I am thinking of getting another robo or two , can I house 2 males or 2 females together, which gender is better to house together so they won't fight. I want to buy them both at the same time.

  • @MegaEstrella23 In my experience, females are a bit better. It seems like once trouble starts with males it only gets worse, but females can squabble a little and recover.

Siblings are also better, but if you get from a pet store you won't always know that for sure. In any case, make sure you have an extra cage if you do have to separate.

And I'm sorry about your old hammy. I know what it's like to miss them.

  • @cjbrix Hi, i am getting three robo hamsters from a friend. They have 3 males, on the father and the other 2 sons. They have been together for over a year now and have been fine together. Will they always be fine with eachother or mabey later will i have to seprate them?

  • @AnimalGirl328 You should always be prepared to separate robos, (i.e. have extra cage) particularly with males. They can get along very well for quite a long time, but I've never had two males grow old together.

My rule is first blood. I see bleeding, it's time for a separate cage.

  • @cjbrix oh yea yea i have 2 extra cages. lol. thanks

  • Lol both my robos are like that.it's sooo cute to see them fall asleep happily in your hand.

  • my robo lets me put him to sleep on my sofa

  • @TheBikeJacker aw how cute:)

  • @101hamstercrazy thanks i made a vid about it

  • mine dove out of my hand

  • i taught my hammy to do that:D

  • my hamster acts the same when i get him on my hand but it takes me 5 minutes to catch him

  • cool.....

  • how'd you do that?! My hamster just sniffs my hand when i try to do that :/

  • @Turtlebear It's not me, it's her. Sweet Pea was always like this.

But if you want your hamster hopping in your hand, make a playpen. A big fun one, with lots of stuff in it, so that they really like going to it. They will learn that your hand takes them there, and you'll have a hand hamster soon enough.

  • what are tamer robos or syrians?

  • @mrcheekycheeks In general, Syrians.

  • @mrcheekycheeks Robos are better though, they're slightly less tame, but they're more friendly and take other robos in their cage and owners way better than syrians. I've had 8 Syrians, and they were tame, but never liked to be played with or handled.

  • @theboards0306 my robo was so nice and she loved to be played with and picked up but then we found out only after 2 months of having her we found out she had a tumour and I've had many other robos but there all not nearly as tame as her :(

  • @AirsoftTaa Sweet Pea did end up having tumors and other problems. I don't know if it's related to her friendliness, but the way she bonded was unusual.

My best guess at what made her unique was that she had no aversion to the smell of people. Even tame Robos don't seem to like the smell and touch of people, but Sweet Pea was always snuffling at me and even licking my fingers. And it's possible that that was a side-effect of her health problems.

  • my ham was so nice and calm and tame and sweet and it was because he had a tumor D: it was so sad. be warned...

  • not my robo mine is like the robo from hell but i love him

  • What water bottle do u use?

  • @izzygirl1998 I use Lixit 5oz water bottles.

I don't have any particular preference for Lixit, just happened to get a deal on them in bulk. They do fit nicely into my cages though.

  • I'm a first time owner of a hamster at all-- the PetSmart store owner didn't tell me that Robo's are very hard to tame. My hamster is extra skittish and I try working with him everyday to tame him. Without grabbing him at all, like walking over my hand. I'm on day 8 now and he just discovered that he really can bite me. It is very frustrating but I'm going to keep on trying for his sake....

  • Thats an active lively and healthy robo for sure! Nice job!

  • id breed her, robos like this dont come along often, and breeding a friendly robo would be great for others :D

  • my hamster did that and when he was in his ball and i was in another room i would call his name and he would roll up to me and gave me kissing to:)

  • is it normal for a syrian hamster not to eat too much on the day i bring her home? She is drinking fine, and she crunched on the apple stick a couple times, but she isn't eating too much of her rodent block, she won't even try the yogurt chip when it's in my hand, she just turns her head away. I even put the yogurt chip in the food bowl and she is not even licking it. Please reply.

  • @piewackit444 I don't keep Syrians, I keep Robos. So I can't be sure of what might be different.

A new home is stressful. It's good to leave a hamster to itself for 24 hours to let it develop a sense that its new cage is home, and I wouldn't worry if she's not very hungry during that time.

You'll also probably need to experiment to see what she likes. I tried strawberry flavored yogurt treats for example, which my Robos had zero interest in. And the pellets the pet store recommended...

  • @piewackit444 ... also fell flat.

It's bad if she's not eating obviously. But just because the first offerings on the first day didn't sell doesn't mean there's a problem. Most likely you just have some experimenting to do, or just giving her some time to settle in.

  • @piewackit444 I love syrians. 1st day is always stressful for any hamster I guess. Just slowly let them get used to you. By the way, my syrian didn't like yoghurt chips too, but he LOVED peanut chews. Used to bribe him with peanut chews all the time. Don't give up just becoz she doesn't like yoghurt chips. Try raisins, peanut chews etc. You really need to experiment and see what food she likes best.

  • once my old hamster jumped and fell from my hand,I had to give him away today because he was fighting. I got a new syrian hammy,Peach, and she desn't like to be held. How do you make your hamies so tame?

  • @piewackit444 They aren't all this tame, I'm just more likely to make videos of the ones that like me.

You should have good luck with a Syrian. Be patient and gentle, and give her yogurt treats, and she'll come around.

  • I have a 2 roborovskis and I dont know how to tame them plz comment back.

  • @bestofbeastboi I don't have much advice beyond the basics. Be patient and gentle, and bribe them with yogurt treats.

I'll point you at RoboHamsterify, she's created a video showing an approach for starting to tame robos:

  • what is the recommended food for hamsters?

  • @Syahrain96 For their primary diet I give them a fortified hamster/gerbil chow from the petstore. It's important to leave it in and get them to eat at least 75%; they'll be healthier and less fat if they can't be too selective.

I also give them some large pellets to gnaw on. And a small piece of veggie a couple times a week.

  • @cjbrix What brand you use and is that aspen bedding?

  • @Syahrain96 It is aspen. I get Kaytee brand, it seems to be finer shavings than the others I've tried.

I also give them a fist-sized ball of carefresh with each cage cleaning, which they seem to like to sleep on and use for projects.

  • @cjbrix I see. Ok. You use carefresh ball to clean the cage?

  • @Syahrain96 Carefresh is a type of bedding. It clumps. I put a handful into their cage near their burrow and let them decide what to do with it. I don't clean the cage with it, they just get a fresh handful each time I change the bedding.

  • @cjbrix I see. Yes, I know carefresh. I currently using it as my bedding. Can't find Aspen bedding here in Singapore. Any idea of a recommended brand of food mix for robo?

  • @Syahrain96 I use different brands. I think a lot of the fortified mixes are decent enough.

I've been using the Kaytee Forti-Diet Hamster/Gerbil food recently. It does seem to have less filler than other brands. (every hamster-chow seems to have these little pellets that my hamsters would rather starve than eat, so it gets wasted)

  • @cjbrix Ouh. Okay. Thanks for the help! :D

  • @Syahrain96 I also give them Mazuri brand pellets. It's something different, and it gives them another thing to gnaw on. (I always have something made of wood in the cage they can chew)

I had to experiment to find the Mazuri, since my hamsters snub most pellets. They don't get excited about the Mazuri, but I do regularly find them gnawing on them.

  • did u have to train it or did it lust listen to u? cause i have a robo hamster and he just runs away from me have any advise on how to train him??

  • @musicm51 - A bit of both. I've invested a lot of attention in Sweet Pea, but she is also very naturally friendly for a robo.

I don't have any new advice beyond what I keep saying here. Bribe them with yogurt treats, avoid startling them, talk to them encouragingly, and be patient.

  • my hamster is just like this i didnt even have to tame her...your hamster Sweet Pea is so cute!

  • @rudyh014 well you're lucky. I got mine for a week no and hes running away from me... D:

  • nice job

i had a female that was tame like this, i think it was because i got her young and probably partly from luck

she started getting grumpy from her first pregnancy though, starting to nip me, and i stopped carrying her

good experience though, and yea it's damn rare to find robos that tame

most would just freak out when u even approach their cage

  • mine don't wants to go on my hand!!!! how can i hold it???

  • Oh that's so cool!

My hamster goes on my hand too by itself but not that fast o_O

  • okay now i really want one.

  • how is that tame? my hamster does that and i bought him 4 days ago.

  • Is your hamster a roborovski?

  • thats awesomeeeeeeee

  • how did u do that i have been trying so hard to pick mine up it just goes crazy

  • Technically I didn't pick her up; she climbed in my hand. If I tried just picking her up I think she'd resist.

It's very difficult to tame a robo. Can't teach it in 500 characters anyhow. And every robo is different.

But in brief: Move slow, talk gently, avoid startling them, (including loud sounds) use yogurt treats, and take advantage of rodent curiosity.

  • wow that is amazing! sweet pea seems like such a good tempered robo!! my robos will come hop on my hand sniff around and then run away as soon as i try to lift my hand even a little!

  • how did u do that i cant catch mine when put here on my bed or sutin and try to get her on my hand she runs off all over my bed and im like blocking it off so she dont fall

  • omg your so lucky! my i have 3 robo hamsters. 2 girls and 1 boy(dont worry the boy has his own cage) and the best i can get is for the first one i bought(her name is buttons) to take food from my hand. foofoo and gizmo just run away.

  • my hamster runs away alot and when i come near the cage she runs inside her tube. she bites and really i think she hates me. any advice? .. :( i need some

  • mine is the same,a male though but soon as i tuern the light on or come near the cage he makes a dash for his house and poops his little pants.ive tried taming him but i think some are just lke that.

  • my robo mimzy escaped from her cage last night =( i spent the whole morning crying. i dont think shell ever come back because she stays in the garage and there's a gap under the door. these vids make me miss her so much

  • I'm sorry about Mimzy.

I know the chances aren't always great with robos because they're so independent, but try putting her cage on the floor with the door open. That's the place she knows the best.

Sweet Pea in the video here has gotten out of her cage, and she did come back.

  • Listen, STOP CRYING. It's a waste of time, instead you should be tearing apart the house in search of him/her. My brother's ham got away all the time and we always found her. Good luck. ;)

  • Woah i heard about ur poor little hammy.

    Is it ok?

    Have you found it?

    Hope you do.Cplhdahd.xoxo

  • yea hamster got away and somehow lived for three weeks on scraps but we found her. ALSOO amazing video please show us how

  • well i have 2 cats and my robo has escaped 6 times but he has always comes back

  • Sorry :(

  • How'd you get your hamster to do that ? My roborovski runs like mad when it sees my hand eh -.-

  • While I have worked with robos quite a bit, this is more about Sweet Pea here then anything I did. She's just like this.

Many of the robos I've had are normally skittish; it can be a challenge just to get some of them to accept a handfed treat.

Just remember that in the eyes of your little fuzzy friend you're a huge loud smelly ogre. Be gentle, move slow, and bribe with yogurt treats, and hopefully they'll come around.

  • good advice

  • mine doesn't bite but then i don't have those wide open cages. i have a habitrail ovo so when he's trying to get out, i open the door and push him on to my hand when hes hanging on to the edge :D

  • wow that is a rare thing to see. My gerbils do that but they are naturally inquisitive. The little guy must really like you. ^_^

  • Very Cuteeeee!

  • That's amazing lol, it's a nightmare trying to get hold of mine!! :)

  • mine too. She bites me.

  • your robo bits you i didnt they bite they owner
