  • This Is, "The Man!" Nothing Else To Be Said. Just Listen..

  • if you love this song, you'll love the songs on my channel, uh huh

  • My brother used to sing this song with his guitar. The words have always stayed with me, even though my brother is no longer with us.

  • One good thing about being a "senior citizen" is that I got to hear him every night at the Night Owl Cafe in Greenwich Village in the summer of 1965, before most of you guys were born.

  • @snortfork I normally don't like people who brag but dog gone it, YOU ARE ENTITLED!!!!! I am so jealous ((-;

  • alright fred

    i will be u tubing u a whole lot more

  • One of Fred's best. I remember hearing THE DOLPHINS (Ronstadt?) and later picking up on the little known Fred Neil. He was a talent and his leaving the scene to get his life back was a loss to music. Miss him. Time passes. . .

  • THIS is good, great, even awesome.

  • I miss this Dude so much...

  • well sadly he passed in 2001 - Coroners report says: Natural Cause

  • Holy hell I didn't know Fred was dead! I thought he was still just hiding out in Florida and hangin with dolphins. Damn, bummer. I remember Mojo Magazine doing a big article about him maybe in 2000, definitely while he was still alive, as they said he declines all interviews. I has no idea. How did he die>

  • And Al Wilson on harmonica? Couldn't ask for better.

  • @PolarSkua

    Yeah, Blind Owl was the best, nobody could play better

  • @PolarSkua Actually it was John Sebastian (Lovin' Spoonful) on harp. Highly regarded by the folk / singer songwriters, lucky enough to have him sit in...

  • @MrPhingers It's the very talented Alan Wilson (Canned Heat) who is playing harp.

  • glad so many folks remember fred with love

  • ❤ thank you all for loving and remembering Fred Neil - he gave us so much during his life, 65 years just wasn't enough ❤

  • For anyone interested, there is a wonderful detailed bio of Fred on the internet. Just do a Google search for fredchrono.

  • freds a legend!!!

  • @thomasw6 so true, he was even already a Legend during his life time

  • This is amazing. Found him through an Interview with Bill Callahan. He mentioned Fred Neil when asked who he listens to. Bill Callahan btw is totally talented as well. Wish I had heard of Fred Neil before. Can't wait to hear his other songs.

  • where the hell did my posts go?

  • Jackie Hall, Michael Mann, Anne Ardolino, Sal Lombardo, Mel the left handed banjo player, Peter Tork, Richie Havens, Joel Boyce (from the Basement Cafe) Zaharia, Magic Jack (mngr of folksingers), Pem from Rienzi's, Jonathan Talbut Penkin - flamenco guitar player - just a few of the names from back in those days.

  • ....and don't forget: Karen Dalton & Tim Hardin ((-;

  • Oh yeah - you're right - there was also Buzzy Lindhardt and let us not forget the album Freddie did with Vince Martin - they did a song called "Linin Track" which I absolutely LOVED - everybody from our little crew would play it. It had one rhythm that would play while the other person played a d modal raga to it for the break in the middle - it could get pretty intense.

  • @funnytoo Karen lived right downstairs from me on 7th Ave. She asked me to write her biography. She was dying. Itwas too sad for me. I couldn'.t do it. It was one of the shittiest decisions I ever made.

  • @artskate2000 what a gut-wrenching thing to live with, yet, you did have the pleasure & good fortune to have been there for her, both Karen & Fred will be loved and missed forever.

  • Michael Man, Tim Hardin, Karen Dalton,Richard Tucker , crazy Billy Mitchell what crew what great days !!!

  • By the way I saw Michael Mann talking to himself on Bleecker about 2 years ago his real name is Michael Wurtzberger, I knew Fred's wife and daughter from those wayback when Village days , I used to play The Four Winds , with Bruce Murdoch who you can now hear on youtube, Fred's wife called him the giraff because of his height and freckles, lol

  • @Anntelope I do not believe I have ever seen Mike Mann referenced before. He also influenced Ned Carter who taught me to play (the Legendary RT). Might also throw in Splivey (Richie Havens acaopaniast at RienziS. You could also throw in the Fat Black Pussycat.. the Third Side (Charley Washburn), David Blue (Cohen), Richard, Cam and Bert. . .but anyone who remembers Mike Mann, that is a gem. Who are you?

  • Fred Neil is so damn under-rated...

  • Hell yeah.....most people have never heard of him. I hadn't until I was in my early or mid 30's. He is a treasure.

  • @spacedoginnebraska Unbelievable how unknown he is to most people. He's at least as emotional as Tim Buckley without being so whiny (although Tim Buckley is great too).
