I'm beginnining to think John doesn't answer pissants like us. If he only knew the bands I've played with or toured with, I think it would be another story. But let the poor sot have his 15 minutes. he'll be back to picking dog ends in no time.
@Dogheadj I try to answer as many comments as I can. Sometimes some of them go unanswered due to the amount of comments and email I get. I only have so much time. Have a good day.
John, I have a '90 ES 335, a '66 Pro Reverb, a '68 (AB763 circuitry) Twin Reverb, a '69 DSR with a 2x12 open back cab, and several other guitars and amps. I've been looking at picking up a Vibrolux. How would you compare this to a Pro Reverb or a Twin? Thanks.
super great feelling, and the vibroverb is a dream, but your tone is in your hand, like all the great players. I'm working on your video a little every day, with my vibroverb 63 "boutique" and my strat 65, i can do all your licks, but didn't play the all "solo" the same way as you. You've got the blues in your blood, and it's a real pleasure to listen you every morning. Thanks a lot
Oh my gosh! That amp sounds GLORIOUS! Makes me wanna ditch all my pedals, get a 335 and a Vibrolux and just play blues all day! By the way, John, your playing is absolutely fantastic! I love how you can rip it up for a bit but then you're also not afraid to not play anything at all for several beats. Just amazing! Thanks for posting a great video!
@johntuggle Y'all just remember it's in the fingers, in your head, in the playing, in the feel, where it all comes out. Not what guitar you're playing; not what gauge strings, not what tabs you've studied, not how fast you can play. It has to be something above and more than all of that to carry you away.
John; I really like your tone, feel, phrasing, etc. That you don't just blaze through as many notes as you can fit it, but choose them in such a melodic way.
What guage strings do you use to get such nice bends? Thanks
Thanks! I'm using DR .010s for this. I've been trying to concentrate a lot on melody lately and not just shred like mad. I think I'm finding my style after about 18 years!
Just saw the Allmans Tuesday night here in Ft Lauderdale. For the first 3 songs Derek was playing a 335, same color as yours. First time I saw him play anything other then a SG live. Halfway through the show he broke a string and his tech brought out a sweet 59 Les Paul. He sounded great with the 335! So do you brother!
Sweet, sweet, SWEET! Thanks for sharing your Demo with the world. Nice backing track to play to as well. Have you ever played the Ibanez AS-50 or 200?(the ones made in the 80's though)...If so what do you think of them. I played one at the music store and it was sweet, this guitar you played reminded me of it.
in early 1968 when I was one of the few palefaces in the Apollo theater seeing BB and Bobby Bland...if I close my eyes this was how it sounded...if listen close enough i can still hear the 60 something grandmothers in the audience shouting...."go BB, tell it like it is..."
that 335 and vibro-nice combination and nice job....love my tapes, too.
I played all day when I got it, and I'm thinking about playing it when I'm not lol. Kind of wish it had some reverb, but other than that its just unbelievable, it's my first real vintage amp.
After I saw derek trucks using princetons and vibrolux's at a show for his sit down blues part I knew I had to get something like it. Vibrolux is defiantly one of the best amps fender ever made, enjoy that thing.
Someone likes there Peter Green hahaha

@dyakel101 Thanks! The vibrolux is the best amp I've ever played period. It's worth saving for. You can get almost any tone you need.

I custom make all of my own.

John, you could build an entire lesson series on that slow blues. I'd be right there to pick up a copy, if you did.

Depending on condition and original parts they go anywhere from $1300-$2500 from what I've seen on the bay.

Thanks! I bet that concert was awesome!
I don't think I can match BB, but I try. The old blues is just so natural sounding. They were definitely my favorite artists of all.
