  • I watched a video about white tigers and in it they went on about how it can cause health problems...

  • This can be true if they inter-breed within small populations, within one zoo. Mogo Zoo has an exchange program with several zoos overseas to ensure that the chances of birth defects are minimal.

  • they need to put a female white tiger in there and see if they make white ligers

  • They do breed them, very successfully.

  • that is a female

  • Don't think the title of the vid should be plural

  • While the video is of only one, the zoo has bred many, and there were at least 4 more in the enclosure, sleeping.

  • Nala?

    is that you?

    hahaha :D

  • MOGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • Mogoooooooooooo

  • kakve veze ima pjesme od pink pantera sa lavom?

  • There is no white lion songs, and this seemed to fit.

  • hm...mene brine koji jezik da odaberem za pisat komentare =) can u answer me on croatian?=)

  • Sorry, I can't translate into Croatian, Google managed to translate enough of your question for me to be able to answer you, but I did not want to attempt the reverse. Who knows what it would have come up with.

  • hihih..ok..i thought u used google =)

  • This reminds me of soccer. . .

But only it's with a cat...by him or her self...playing with a box...

  • wtf do we have here? looks like this world is full of surprizes nver new about a white lion

    :?

  • true

  • lol @ the music, this is albinism.

  • This is not albinism, while it is a recessive genetic trait. Most white lions are not actually white, just very light, and they have colour pigment in their eyes and pads as visible on the paws in the video.

  • looks like a white panther to me

  • See the tuft of hair on the end of the tail? Shes definately a lion. Her stocky build, with less extra skin, also indicate she isnt a panther.

  • I think the panther comment was in reference to the music.

  • omg.... i didnt know that there's white lions!!! i only know that there's white tiger!!!

  • albinism, a genetic defect.

  • See reply above.

  • The albino gene can be found in just about all animals.

  • Yes it can, but most white lions are the result of a different genetic trait. Most white lions retain some pigment, especially in their eyes and pads, albinos do not.

  • Really? I havent studied the biology of cats yet. I have only studied a few animal species. Does this genetic trait have a name? I would very much like to study it.

  • Albinism. It's caused by too little melanin. In fact, it effects just about every species on the planet. Conversely, too much melanin makes the fur/skin black. I actually have a black buck that comes around my house from time to time.

  • White Lions are the result of leucism, not albinism, although it looks very similar, and is very often confused. Just read some of the previous posts.

  • the albino gene can also be found in plants

  • o wow that was it

  • lol, she's still a little kitten inside

  • It's not kimba...It's female deh...And kimba has black ears...LOL...Nice video!

  • Beautiful!

  • KIMBA!

  • brasilianjj its normal color mutation in the genes of Kruger subspecies of lion (Panthera leo krugeri). alltought it is extremely rare that white lion will ever born again in wild but they have, last one was seen 12 years ago and they dont need to do inter breeding to get white puppies now!! like author said its gene mutation in some lions and they only need to select right inviduals that has it they dont need to be family

  • so beautiful

  • omg its david beckham

  • hahahaha

  • cool!

  • this is true i went there i saw it in my eats.................waw waw waw waw waw waw waw he is the king of all and the king of beasts

  • soccer skills!

  • He got the cruyff technique

  • White lions are the most beautiful animals in the world, to me!

  • Many people agree, I believe there is beauty in all creatures.

  • YOu do know that white tigers and lions are from Inbreeding? its a defect. not healthy.. 1 in 4 cubs actually live. the rest are killed cause of other mutations

  • Your comment is not backed up by facts. The Mogo Zoo breeding program is very successful, in the wild only 1 in 4 cubs may live, in their breeding program they are much more successful. White lions are the result of a recessive genetic condition known as leucism. Not specifically in breeding. If a white lion breeds with a non white lion, some of the litter may still be white, it's a recessive genetic condition. Calling it in breeding because both lions are white is very naive!

  • GO look up the history of white lions and white tigers... WHite tigers came from orange siberian tigers being inbread

  • ONCE again, just because they have the SAME recessive genetic trait, does not mean they are of the same family tree. Therefore NOT inbred. White Lions have been sighted in Africa for hundreds of years, various portents both good and bad were placed upon these sightings. The fact that some breeders are not very successful is quite possibly due to inbreeding within family groups. Mogo do not practice this type of breeding, they cooperate with overseas programs to prevent this.

  • were is this place mogo

  • It's about 3.5 hours south of Sydney, Australia. The zoo is expanding all the time, last time I was there they were building a chimpanzee enclosure. The chimps were already in residence at the zoo, you could hear them.

  • ooo thanks man i didnt even now it was in austrliaaa

  • I too had the opportunity in seeing these lovely animals at Mogo. In fact I had the opportunity to play with the cubs. Check out my videos....

  • soooo cut lion

  • omg u are twisted in da head! u can't have an exotic pet like a lion or bear or whatever. there wild creachers! u can get a house cat, dog, bird, mouse, ect. but exsotic animals should be band!

  • u have no idea y that lion is in captivity do u?

  • omg, you're dumb.

  • soooooooo cute

  • lions are just like babies they play with anything xD so cute lion :)

  • poor lion it has nothing to play with only a bag or something like that

  • Cats will play with anything though, you can buy expensive toys, but they like to play with an empty water container, it might like the sound it makes, or the unpredictable way it rolls.

  • the only time this is more than likely true is with white tigers because of their popularity and history and it is a man-made problem. in the true wild, wild cats are not inbred and they are perfectly capable of surviving in the wild. they learn to survive like any other animal, and are not killed by other cats because of their colour, quite the opposite. that only occurs among ignorant men.

  • there are 2 different arguments being made here; 1) yes, there is a negative element added when man interferes with nature for the sick purpose of trying to breed a certain colour of animal within a breed of cat - it makes it far less special in my opinion, and 2) no, a cat isn't inbred simply because it is the same colour.

  • the problem is they are so rarely seen in the wild that captors seeking to breed for this colour almost certainly have to inbreed them in order to achieve their goal. there is no way to test every lion in the wild to see who carries what trait anymore than it is possible to test every American to see who has a relation to black ancestry and who doesn't.

  • the reason you have the huge problem with inbreeding among tigers is because the white tiger has been captured and and sought after for a longer period of time and is indeed endangered (if not officially). there is a movement to prevent this from happening among white lions. it is a well known fact that there exists mulitple genetic familial lines among white lions.

  • you dont need to inbreed if to carry the gene which doesent mean they have to be white there no different same speices like the white tiger

  • White lions are rare, but they could theoretically survive in the wild. A female would also have a much harder time with this than a male, as they do all the hunting. On the topic of inbreeding, lions will be inbred whether they are in the wild or not, so you cannot blame their handlers.

  • According to Tucker, white lions in canned hunt camps have been found to have hind-limb paralysis and serious heart defects.......so you see, it's man playing god and being stupid again. Simple as that.

  • Most experts will use only observations that prove or support their point of view. I can only base my opinions on what i have read or seen with my own eyes. If i believed everything i was told by the experts of YouTube, well let's just say that they haven't removed gullible from the dictionary yet. All that I have seen and heard from the keepers at Mogo do not support your views, but they probably have a vested interest as well.

    DP.

  • And i site..........The chinchilla mutation, a recessive gene, in white lions gives them their unusual color. A similar gene also produces white tigers. Such breeding involves inbreeding of close relatives and can result in inbreeding depression

  • OMG,im starting to get ticked. there is video proof of a white lion and other animals that are white surviving in the wild. so whats your full of crap response now!!! man you should redo the seventh flyingfossas/xRaikiri. inbreeding WHAT BS!!!

  • It's not bullshit, they have to inbreed these cats to get white. The gene for white is double recessive. It's a common practice by big zoo's and circuses. Big cat rescue states it in videos here. Other sites on tigers will state it, it's fact. I don't know why you're hung up on not researching this yourself. There's a vid of deformed white tigers on this site that explains why. Open your head, it might catch the clue train on the way by.

  • because everything you read on the internet is always true. come on theres documented proof! CAN SUM ONE REALLY BE THAT THICK!!! BESIDES dont u having anything better to do than make false accusations all day. GET A LIFE! i dont no where sum people get this stuff but maybe u should do more research before doing something like this.

  • While some of what these other idiots say is true, they do breed them for hunting, other bits are incorrect. Breeding white lions with white lions is not inbreeding. Just because they're the same colour does not mean they are of the same genetic familial line.

  • Oh yeah,... FlyingFossa and xRaikiri you have know idea about what your talking about so SHUT UP and stop posting lies. i totally agree with DAVOPARKES. and other lions dont kill them for looking different that a lie.

  • Thank You.

  • HOW MANY TIMES MUST PEOPLE LIE. being white is a recessive trait! thats why THEY ARE RARE! and yes they can survive in the wild. a white male lion on animal planet grew up and started his own pride, so yeah they can survive. man WILL PEOPLE GET THEIR FACTS STRAIGHT!

  • petit pooooooooooooooont !

  • natural habitat eh? no you will never see a white lion in a natural habitat becuz they r born of inbreeding. Some people thought one lion had the white gene and they bred it to its daughter and voila it had white cubs and ever since they've been inbreeding these animals. its the same as the liger and the white tiger. This is all incest and dont even say that a lion can even possibly be white unless it is inbred. yur just being stupid then. read up...jeeez

  • Read up eh, They are native to the Timbavati region of South Africa. There have been rumors of these big cats appearing for centuries. The captive breeding programs around the world are striving towards re-introducing them back into the wild, they are already working with a self sufficient pride quite successfully in Tsau for over a year. How can a Liger be the result of incest anyway, they are a cross breed of a male lion and female tiger, they aren't even the same species!

  • White lions do NOT survive in the wild. End of story. If you don't know that you obviously dont know why tigers look the way they do. Even Siberians who spend time in the snow are not white.

  • They do not survive in the wild because they are not allowed to. Humans hunt them to keep as pets. They can hunt and survive successfully without human intervention. If you had seen them in person you would know they are not perfectly white, their colour still works as camouflage.

P.S you pessimistic ARSEHEADS are really starting to annoy me.

  • Unfortunately they are bred for trophy hunting, in the wild white lions are killed by other lions because they look different, and being white on the african plane is not sufficient camouflage, to see this you can look at all other white predators who also do not survive regardless of human contact. Predators that are naturally white all live in the arctic for a reason.

  • Once again, they aren't actually white, people just call them white because they look white compared to other lions. And they are hunting successfully in a sanctuary in South Africa. Some idiots do breed for trophy hunting, but not the people in Tsau or the guys at Mogo. Mogo Zoo also breed several kinds of Tigers. Not as good as living in the wild, but better than a lot of other places they are kept.

  • WTF yes they do ive seen it!!! get that through your in credibly thick head.OK. you obviously have know idea what your talkin about,... SO SHUT UP!!!

  • This is correct. Unfortunately, most people still think that white lions are a species that should be saved and don't realize that the gene to make them is double recessive and they have to be inbred... And you're right! It's exactly like the inbreeding of white tigers! It's so sad =(

  • got nothing better to do locked behind a cage for rest of life

  • They are almost completely extinct in the wild, at Mogo they are successfully breeding them for eventual release back into the wild. Without these cats in captivity there would be zero chance of ever seeing them back in their natural habitat.

  • Aw Cute! and how pretty it is!

  • woah hes learning how to play soccer
