The train ran untill 1967, when the Post Office taking directions from the powerful highway lobby removed the mail from the trains and put it on their trucks. The NYC quickly dropped the train. So why did it run out of GCT I thought Amtrak couldn't afford to run out of there anymore. Most have been a special move. Also I see the Phoebe Snow Obs cars in the distance. They were just as nice as the NYC cars with no extra fare which the NYC charged.
I thought Amtrak did not use Grand Central.

Interesting that the last car even survives today, because I bet it was used to trail trains out of Grand Central even back in 1948.
