I like the emphasis on NEVER TOUCH THAT LINE. Some guys are in such a fricken hurry to be the fastest, they don't learn the basics. Speed never impressed me, any monkey can slam away at a wall, but do it right and I will give you respect.

Thank you for your comment. Please remember that you do things different when you are starting out. Later in the course when the student is more proficient, they will learn to do it with one smooth motion.

You say your already a bricklayer, and I bet when you started out, you were not as good as you are now. Learning to lay brick is a step by step, then practice procedure.

He knew how to hold the brick but he scratchs around with his trowl to much. When i lay a Brick i scape the mud off and face the brick in one swipe of the trowl. Scatching around on brick smears the hell out of them for one and for 2 it slows you down. Its just another wasted movement.
