Crash !! Am not a biker yet, not even a trainee, but the way you demonstrate stuff makes me that little bit more confident for when I do go and get my CBT ( basic training ) done!!
Especially love the end bit.. " I'm looking where I want to go ... WooHoooo !!! )
Definitely appreciate this video. I'm brand new and have only been on my bike a handful of times. I passed a safety course, but they never talked about this type of turn. Riding around my neighborhood, turning from a stop has given me a lot of grief. I got to be honest, trying this out scares the crap out of me, but I got to learn it somehow! I'm off to find a parking lot to give this a swing.
Hey man your videos are very helpful! I'm going to buy my first bike soon and have just been on youtube trying to get some pointers. But I have a question, alot of people have been telling me that new riders ALWAYS drop their bikes. That sounds like a pretty bold statement to me but I was wondering if there is any truth behind that? And what would cause a new rider to drop their bike? Like what are some mistakes new riders make? Thanks.
@StandByYourVan1 Not "everybody crashes". One of the serious problems that any rider faces is getting themselves in a position where they 'drop' their bike. It can be as simple as putting a foot down at the gas station and slipping in diesel or trying to turn around in a parking lot and pulling in the clutch while leaned over at walking pace and the bike falls. A couple ideas: Be aware of your surroundings and footing. Be comfortable moving the bike at slow speed.
@CaptCrashIdaho Thanks for the quick response man, very helpful. That makes me feel a lot better too haha. I've just seen a bunch of motorcycle videos and Q&A sites online where people say something like "if your a new rider you ARE going to drop your bike". That was just bugging me. But thanks for the tips. Your videos are awesome!
hey crash! love the videos,, can you do this wth a passenger on ? i have a harley dyna with tall apes, i try this with my girl on.. i cant do this ? any ideas?
Thanks for the new video. After listening to your interview on wheelnerds' podcast, I thought you should do it again on your Shadow... But an ST is even better! I do it on my GS500, but I'll admit I would be a little nervous doing the turn on a bigger bike.
Excellent information...well demonstrated...very clear...easy to understand and absorb...I am going to practice that maneuver immediately....thanks for sharing...Rob from Vancouver
I remember watching the original video. I never figured it was any different with a different bike, but it's good to see you make an example of things!
Wish I'd seen this before I dropped my Bonneville trying to do a full-lock turn to the right. Luckily, I was already on my way to the dealership for routine maintenance. I felt pretty stupid riding with my right foot resting on the passenger peg, though. :D
@CaptCrashIdaho But, MY bike is different. They engineered it in such a way that you must swing wide into oncoming traffic. You must be using voodoo-magic or something.
@luisronaldofigo, Had some family things pop up. Helped move some people around. Everything looks square now. Gonna post up some stuff on "The Book" (Motorcycles, Life and..." the first week of June.

@CaptCrashIdaho yeah a passenger video would be great! sub and like
Rex84goon 4 months ago
@xxfaultxx Yes please and use an even heavier bike. Like a Harley Electra Glide that weights about 1000 lbs plus passenger weight.
