I completely agree, Asian martial arts are arrgessively hyped as superior, magic, bestest ever - but you never ever see actual supermasters in MMA fights! They usually say "our art is so deadly it can not be demonstrated on humans"... Bullshit folks!!! All the "supermasters" from shaolin, ninja, or whatever from Asia, they just suck against a good old boxer or well trained MMA fighter!

And honestly, how we know that Asian MA are superior? Yeah, from MOVIES! Go damn fantasies....

@Protherium it isn't the art, as much as the artist. Yes, a boxer can kick the ass of someon trained in asian arts. But the asian arts were meant to either subdue, or kill. Killing arts really can't be used in competition (duh). MMA is to fighting martial arts what paintball guns are to modern rifles. Great fun, but they are seriously watered down.

No safe katas as practised in JMA, full-steel full force fight. So killing arts CAN be used with proper training swords and special protective gear. Unfortunately, almost no japanese Koryu or Chinese schools do it this way.

Every sword art can be done full contact, if desired by properly equipped fighters. JMA and especially kenjutsu are however considered as "ancient art that must be preserved", not for killing anymore. There is apparently no interest in full contact in Japan
