-continued- my science teacher also said you can see this same event happen all over the world not just in the artic or antartic. Its called erosion. We even took a feild trip to a place called Nasua Sound in florida and could see where years of tide had eaten away the cliff and even dropped trees to the beach. Now he explained to us that since the water does not freeze back, rebuilding the shelf, that it will keep eroding the cliff.
I was taught long ago in school that Ice shelves break off all the time. Its a process of waves hitting the ice when the water is warmer and does what I belive they call "carving". Eventually the waves dig into the ice and the weight of the ice causes it to break off, creating Icebergs, wich can float back to sea or, depending on the tide, keep crashing back into the ice shelf. Its a natural occuring thing that is controlled by the rotation of the earth.
Rotation of earth does not produce any relative motion of the bodies on the planet. If that was so cars would be barging into each other all the time on the highways!

The problem is that we are the major contributor to excess greenhouse gases. Other contributors are also consumers of greenhouse gases, part of the natural cycle. We only produce so we affect the climate more than the 3%.

The answer for you api78 is that 30,000-40,000 years ago all of North America was covered by ice. We are now between mini ice ages. It is a natural cycle. Isn't putting 2 cubes of ice into a glass of water the same as melting those two cubes and putting the water from them into the glass? I mean the water level will be the same. So how does a melting sheet of ice raise the sea levels at all? The whole antarctic could melt and make no significant difference if this theory is correct.
ice is lighter than water witch is why only 3/4 of the water is displaced..as soon as the ice melts the 1/4 of ice that was above the surface is incorperated , leading to an quarter percent increase in total water..try pushing those cubes in the cup down to match the surface and you will see what i mean..good day

Global Warming has increased the temperature causing greater melt-offs and breaks in the many antarctic shelves. Icebergs the size of football stadiums are normal, on occasion with the majority ranging between small houses to medium sized office building. An iceberg breaking off the size of a State is not normal and is directly attributed to global warming.

We even took a feild trip to a place called Nasua Sound in florida and could see where years of tide had eaten away the cliff and even dropped trees to the beach. Now he explained to us that since the water does not freeze back, rebuilding the shelf, that it will keep eroding the cliff.

I was taught long ago in school that Ice shelves break off all the time. Its a process of waves hitting the ice when the water is warmer and does what I belive they call "carving". Eventually the waves dig into the ice and the weight of the ice causes it to break off, creating Icebergs, wich can float back to sea or, depending on the tide, keep crashing back into the ice shelf. Its a natural occuring thing that is controlled by the rotation of the earth.

The problem is that we are the major contributor to excess greenhouse gases. Other contributors are also consumers of greenhouse gases, part of the natural cycle. We only produce so we affect the climate more than the 3%.

Next time you get medical advise tell the team of docs to "prove it!". So they recommend you get your GED, go to pre-med, then med school, then do your intern work, then pass the exam, then get some field experience, then MAYBE you will have a reliable opinion.

Again, there's NOTHING that 100% sure but the odds that have been estimated are strongly in the favor of humans influencing the climate.
It's the best information we have. How can anyone in their right mind justify betting the earth's habitability AGAINST the odds? That habitat is not yours to gamble.

Global warming is an excuse to prevent lazy scientist from looking into our earths past climates. Humans produce a fraction of CO2 compared to a volcano. So maybe we should put tupperware lids on volcanoes.

The answer for you api78 is that 30,000-40,000 years ago all of North America was covered by ice. We are now between mini ice ages. It is a natural cycle. I wouldn't put much faith in what any "top scientists" from finland (population just over 5 million; i.e. about half that of NYC)have to say. What are you worried about? a decline in tourism? The reason most of us disagree is because we are free thinkers... not sheep.

Isn't putting 2 cubes of ice into a glass of water the same as melting those two cubes and putting the water from them into the glass? I mean the water level will be the same. So how does a melting sheet of ice raise the sea levels at all? The whole antarctic could melt and make no significant difference if this theory is correct.

ice is lighter than water witch is why only 3/4 of the water is displaced..as soon as the ice melts the 1/4 of ice that was above the surface is incorperated , leading to an quarter percent increase in total water..try pushing those cubes in the cup down to match the surface and you will see what i mean..good day

This is perfectly natural and is not caused by "Global Warming". It's caused by ocean currents and has been going on for thousands of years. The Ice caps have been growing since 1979. If the ice didn't break off, then Antarctica would begin to cover Australia. How is Global Warming melting the ice when the average winter temperature is minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit and the summer temp is minus 17.5 degrees Fahrenheit? Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Nothing melts in Antarctica... NOT EVER.

The Great Lakes were formed at the end of the last ice age, when the Laurentide ice sheet receded. Am I supposed to believe that carbon dioxide emissions did this? Carbon dioxide is one of the building blocks of life on the planet and they want to put a tax on it. Just think about that for a minute.

They are already trying to control the weather with disastrous results..we wound up with over 100 inches of snow this year, it caused roof collapses and traffic fatatities, and millions of dollars out of pocket for the cities and state to remove snow from the roads. Last year the pictures of the poles ice was same as has been in past. Well it's more climate change. It's getting warmer in some cool places and cooler in some warm places. The planet's climate is always changing and sometimes more rapidly. If you want to stop all the CO2 emissions then find a way to get rid of all the bogs in the east XD I'll give you time to make a quick change in the telephone booth.
We're not helping, but in the long run what we do is inconsequential in comparison to other natural factors. Listen to the scientists, not green peace. ;)
