@tamierivers No... because you're supposed to feel air with your touch sense. Still, air can be felt (no "felt" in a spiritual way, but in a reasonable way), thus proving its existence
Our rights come from God? Are you fucking kidding me? So god gave us the right to own slaves hundreds of years ago? And why is that right no longer a right? Did god send a memo that i missed some hundreds of years ago? If people decided that it is no longer a right, how credible is the bible on any other arguments that a lot of people, sadly, still hold on to today (like prejudice against gays)? And isn't god supposed to be omnipotent?
LOL!!!!! This was awesome!!!!! I love it!!!! No matter what.... I will continue to pray to the Lord; whether in private or corporately with others, I will pray to and praise my Heavenly father.... As for me and my household, we will always serve the LORD.
@rmaynard626 Good for you. It is your right. And people who do not believe as you have the right not to do so. Organized school prayer has no place in the public school. However individuals who wish to pray in school should not be restricted either. I have no problem with a moment of silence. Meditation or self introspection is a good think, I think. As long as it is not for the purpose of organized school led prayer, I have no problem at all.
people like him & others like him are so lost in society. they think backwards. how are education and religion in this together?..smh..revamp the school system period. & just keep religion outta everything. religion is something you're taught..you're not born with it..i think it's best u don't introduce religion to kids at a young age. let them be a free thinkers. why give them the burden..i had to separate myself from any kinna religion..i'll find out whats really going on when i die. maybe?
You want to practice your religion or your belief go to a church. Ask yourself if this was majority muslim of buddist school and they pushed your beliefs on to your children would you be so hard pushed for religion in school. There is a reason for seperation of church and state. School is for all to get an education to get a job, church is where you should pray.
I dont understand why anyone says this is being pushy. religious freedom is a right. so kids should be given time in a public school to practice whatever their chosen religion demands. this is only a government system allowing individual freedom. it is not a government system pushing beliefs on anyone. i am an atheist but i also feel that people should not be dictated to or controlled by their government.
As beck said "if you take god out of the picture then where do morals and rights come from" ...the answer is exactly the same place that imaginary sky fairies came from in the first place: people's imaginations. Morals and rights did not come from a sky fairy, they came from people. The state is payed for by the people and works for the people. If its not, vote them out or set up your own party. Beck's Religion is belief in the bronze age books written by desert nomads!
I agree with the moment of silence. I would further like to suggest, for our children, a moment of nudity, where our children can all commune, alone, with their personal selves and bodies. Now, it so happens that in SOME religions, this corresponds with a holy time. But, THAT is not what I'm promoting. I would NEVER promote religion in school. Just a personal time, by oneself, nude, free of clothes, to encounter the divine spagetti monster who created everything. Or, ya know.... not...
If you don't care what we believe than why do children have to pray to his god or even pray at all? I don't give a shit what YOU believe just keep it at home! BTW "god" was added in the mid-nineteenth century for those that believe our country was built on religion.
Beck always forces his "family values" bullshit down people's throats. James Dobson is so fucking full of shit as well and not at all an impartial source. He seems to only have guests who agree with his point. Mormons and regular evangelical christians are not that different at least as far as thier conservative attitudes go. In regards to faggotry I am willing to bet you have never met a gay person in your life or at the very least have never befriended one.
hahaha. i wonder if i went on glenn beck, and yelled the word fuck for the duration of the interview, if he would stop me because the word offends him. . . can you say double standard?
Dobson is so full of shit. If a person needs to pray, nobody can stop a person from praying. They can pray silently to themselves. And why not pray before class? Does Beck start each of his shows with a prayer? If he prays, he probably does it before the show? Dobson and his gang are trying to be stealth. Anyways, I remember Jesus, in the gospels, admonishing people who prayed in public places as hypocrites.
Obama is a marxist,he wants religion OUT of schools and homosexuality to poison our youth and our morality. NO OTHER country condones homosexuality and it ruins the usa's image to other countries when we condone homosexuality. The entire world is laughing at us for allowing homosexuality to control the country. Lets not forget that this is one nation UNDER GOD. This is a Christian nation and we must uphold our Christian ideals. Glenn Beck is a genius. God bless Glen Beck.
yeah those damn liberals are so oppressing of other cultures and try to bring others down and are white christian slave owners who are all rich and racist
What bullshit about him being marxist. And religion doesn't belong in public school!!! If You want Your kids taught that bullshit send them to a fucking christian school. Someone needs to smash Your opressive face in. You don't care about goverment being the ruler of the people, so long as it is Your rules that rule.
is taking away the right for children to pray a way of pushing atheism on children!!if the atheist dont want to pray, thats their own decision,my kid has every right to pray!!!
i agree, but why does this guy have to act like an idiot? Half the time he was making a point, the other half he's trying to be a comedian. He should pick 1 occupation and stick with it. But i agree completely with your comment. What's the point of having free will and living in a supposedly free country when your choices get so limited.
churches are places for praying in and schools are for education. if you want your child to pray in school, send them to a religious school.
otherwise save it for sunday, and send them to one of the many fucking churches you can find across this planet.
unlike atheists, all atheist have is the schools. would they like it if science teachers spent five minutes talking darwin before father o'maly does his sermon?
pray at home, away from the ridicule your religions so justly deserve
School is supposed to be unbiased, Churches never claimed to be that way, they wouldn't be churches if they were. This piece of legislation is unbiased. Specifically saying that IF someone wants to pray, they have the opportunity to. Whatever you want to do with the time is your own decision. Since when do Atheists own the schools? This is how far we have fallen in America, Atheists believing they own the schools. But I really don't blame them, they practically do.
Everyone is supposed to pay taxes, and when a institution is given tax exemption, everyone else picks up the tab. This is especially sad in the case of churches because they are not required to report how they're spending their money. Most money goes back into the church for promotion, overseas for missionary work., etc. Churches take up the most land in America, and they have to pay nothing.
The rest of us pick up the tab. Try again to be clever.
I assume you're talking about the first amendment. If making a church pay for the land that they are on (disregard the rest of the exemptions) would prohibit the free exercise of religion, I would say that church obviously doesn't have a leg to stand on because its members don't care enough to support it.
Listen, I don't have enough room to inform you on regulations and reasons regarding tax exemption.
Excuse me, I did put that last bit rather rudely. I apologize. I'm trying to say that I cannot continue to argue with you about a subject so intricate in these little boxes. No high horse involved. Thanks for the title, I appreciate it. =D
I PRAY that the podium of moronic, self-proclaimed "christians" like Beck and Dobson are replaced by real christian leaders with real christian concerns.
I dislike Glenn Beck. I'm a democrat. However, I agree with him on this topic. See, while I might have liberal views, I know when rights are taken away.
I don't agree with prayer in school. Prayer shouldn't be taught. But why take away the moment of silence? It seems to me people who don't want to be bashed with religion weren't when it was moment of silence, and if you wanted to pray, you could. Now, it's the opposite of before. Now a child doesn't have a time when he CAN pray...
"Now a child doesn't have a time when he CAN pray... "
Since when does anyone need a time set aside to pray? I'm no religious but what would, could, stop a child or an adult from praying anytime they want to? Unless you follow a belief system, like Islam that requires certain conditions for prayer, praying is simply your belief that your speaking to your god when you think to yourself. There is a little bit more to it then Beck lets on don't take his word for it.
It's not appropriate for someone to pray, or do anything for that matter, while a teacher is teaching. IMO, it's wrong to force people to pray, just as wrong as it is to not ALLOW them to pray. It should be center ground, hence moment of s.
I think my main point is, the moment of silence didn't hurt anyone, or force anyone to do anything they didn't want to. It was 10 free seconds in the day for kids to do whatever they wish. For some kids, that 'wish' is to pray with others who pray too.
Saying it's rude to pray to yourself is about the same thing as saying it's rude to think to yourself, it doesn't make any sense and again there was more to it the Beck claims, check it for yourself.
I love how these neo-cons keep on saying that "religion" is being under attack! To them their def of religion is a judeo-christian one,to them Buddhism is not a true religion, hinduism is not a true relgion, nor is Zoroastrianism.Dont believe me?watch the vid where a hindu monk is being yelled at by a bunch of neo-cons during opening prayer in the senate.I would wish that they will stop using the term religion.
Wile I have no objection to people sitting still and praying for a bit in public buildings some who rightfuly demand the right to a civil prayer really want to force everyone to pray to their version of God(s).
No, we acknowledge all of those beliefs as religions, but they have not shaped this country, yet Christianity has. No matter what you believe, at least admit that. Whats this your crying about a Hindu? I bet you have never heard of Father Sanders, an American Citizen, who was murdered in Mexico in 07. And how about you shed some tears for the 4 million babies that have been murdered since Roe v. Wade. J.R.R Tolkien was a strong Christian btw, as I see you are a fan of Lord of The Rings.
Yes i admit that Chrisitanity has played a role in the development of the usa, although most were not benefitcial, however, there is very little credit to those non-religous people that had a bigger affect on the development of the united States. You have Positive law theorists such as John Locke who played a bigger role in the independece of America.BTW if all of those beliefs are considered as relgion, then why is it that the neo-cons got mad for allowing a non-christian priest to lead prayers?
so?Mother Teresa was a catholic nun, however she didnt believe in god.Besides, during that time, unless you were in some relgion, esspicially chrisitainity in Europe, was the best way to actually move in life.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT COLBERTLOTR91?! Mother Teresa didn't believe in God? What planet are you from? Why would she be deemed Blessed Teresa and on the way to being canonized a saint if she didn't believe in God. She was a NUN for crying out loud! She spent 45% of her day in PRAYER!
Mother Teresa was very doubtful of the existance of god. "In my soul I feel just that terrible pain of loss, of God not wanting me — of God not being God — of God not existing. -Mother Teresa
btw about the situation in congress it is a hindu(i think) mink leading opening prayers and in the background u hear people yelling "Jesus forgive us, etc etc
What is not beneficial about the role Christianity has played in the development of our country?! First off John Locke wasn't even American, and second, he was an empiricist. Which any rational thinker could deny the accuracy and misguidance of this philosophy. And who did he have a greater influence than? To answer your last question: I am not sure what you are referring to...Congress has had Muslims,Jews, and Christians lead prayers a number of times. What is so wrong with a Christian country?
Oh, and if your rights come from God, then God sucks. Because he forgot a few little things like slavery. He also gave we British 3 more rights than he gave to you, and he gave the Dutch only 3. (Thank you Mr Carlin). Your rights don't come from God, you Mormon idiot, we humans made them up.
What the Hell are you babbling about slavery for, that was about 150 years ago. And he's referring to the ten commandments genius, not the Bill of Rights. Don't get pissed off at America because socialism hasn't destroyed us like it has your Britain.
Uhm, I think you need to listen to that again. He says 'We get our rights from God.' Then the other chattering moron agrees with him. So I was referring to the rights of people. The 10 Commandments are stupid also, because the first 4 are about worshipping God, instead of telling people not to rape. Good work. How you read any of that into 'I hate America. Socialism is great, capitalism sucks' I don't know. Oh wait, yes I do, it's because you're an idiot.
I don't follow you're logic...You hate America and Socialism is great because I am an idiot? What? And then Ten Commandments are not limited to the direct words of "Thou shall not...", they are deeper then that. For example, making fun of someone is classified as "Thou shall not kill" because you are murdering their pride. And rape would actually be directly related "Thou shall not commit adultery" you moron. Where do you get you're rights from, if not from God?
Are you illiterate? Re-read my message to say I'm not knocking America. And Britian is a democracy. Pay attention in school.
Anyway... The Ten Commandments are precisely limited to THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. Otherwise those ten would not be important, and there would be hundreds.
Still, it's clear you haven't even thought this through beyond the end of your nose. Does raping your wife count as adultery? Think that one through for a minute.
You're right I am illiterate! What do you know of the ten commandments? If you're a jew, then I would understand why you would say that the ten commandments are limited to "Thou shall not...", which is what I think you meant to say, because then you wouldn't believe Jesus came to FULFILL them. The rules that are established by God are, unfortunately, almost entirely common sense and based off of moral value. Which is something you and the rest of Liberal America seems to be lacking.
'Where do you get you're rights from, if not from God? '
You don't 'get' rights from anywhere. They're made up. They've been made up continually as we've gone along. In the 1700s black people did not have the right to live freely. In the 1800s women did not have the right to vote. If these 'rights' came from God they would not a) have needed to be added throughout history, b) wouldn't be able to be stripped away by anybody. Agan, you're basic misunderstanding of this is funny.
Do you honestly believe that rapists think it's ok to rape because the Bible doesn't say not to? Name one, just ONE, serious crime that was committed and the criminal said "Well the Bible never said I couldn't". Use logic. I never claimed America to be perfect, it has made mistakes, and yes the "rights" established by it have changed in a MINOR way. You have named two major changes, beyond that most things are pretty consistent.
HAHA, you know what else? I think I'm pretty funny too! Silly me for thinking that people can generally determine right from wrong without EVERY SINGLE ACTION being written down as good or bad. How silly of me to give you enough credit to imply that OF COURSE THE BIBLE DOESN'T CONDONE RAPING YOU IGNORANT BUFFOON.
Does Glenn Beck actually have meaningful debate with people with opposite politics, or is he just like Sean Hannity? I can't FUCKING believe Alan Colmes, leaving. Now wtf is he gonna do? I was hoping he'd make his own show and counteract Hannity and some of the other jerkoffs on Fox, but that doesn't seem likely. Maybe he'll get a show on cnn or msnbc. who knows
that would be nice, now Hannity gets to have his stupid ass show "Hannity's America" on 5 days a week, what a SUPRISE, and I don't think fox noise will allow colmes to have his own show.
90% believe in God. Wrong, Mr Beck. Absolutely wrong. It is estimated that somewhere between 15-20% of the American population are atheists. A further 15-20% of the population follow other religions, many of which do not pray in the same way Christians do. So there are at best 70% of the population that believe in Christ. I don't care if you pray in schools, but please don't overstate your numbers to try to make your self delusional cause seem more important.
I am so SICK and fucking tired of this myth spread by Christian fundies that just because I'm an atheist, I believe rights come from the state. NO I DON'T! There IS an Enlightenment concept known as "natural rights." They can come from "god", or they can just exist.
And how dare these fucktar ds assume that I want the state to tell us what our rights are. I'm not some Hegelian jerkoff.
the bigger issue is schools need money to buy books! This guy is a sophomoric f*%ktard who seems to have forgotten why students are in school in the first place. To learn. pray at home, and get on with learning in the school.
We get our rights from society, we didn't go around murdering and raping indiscriminately and had to have a god to say it was wrong. If you do not have a conscience you are a sociopath, and society has a place for you, it's called a hospital for the criminally insane
god needs defense... poor god, lets all be good to him. :D

Ender1zero1 3 years ago
It's not appropriate for someone to pray, or do anything for that matter, while a teacher is teaching. IMO, it's wrong to force people to pray, just as wrong as it is to not ALLOW them to pray. It should be center ground, hence moment of s.
I think my main point is, the moment of silence didn't hurt anyone, or force anyone to do anything they didn't want to. It was 10 free seconds in the day for kids to do whatever they wish. For some kids, that 'wish' is to pray with others who pray too.
Gamingtrevor 3 years ago
Saying it's rude to pray to yourself is about the same thing as saying it's rude to think to yourself, it doesn't make any sense and again there was more to it the Beck claims, check it for yourself.

I love how these neo-cons keep on saying that "religion" is being under attack! To them their def of religion is a judeo-christian one,to them Buddhism is not a true religion, hinduism is not a true relgion, nor is Zoroastrianism.Dont believe me?watch the vid where a hindu monk is being yelled at by a bunch of neo-cons during opening prayer in the senate.I would wish that they will stop using the term religion.
colbertLOTR91 3 years ago
Well said.
Wile I have no objection to people sitting still and praying for a bit in public buildings some who rightfuly demand the right to a civil prayer really want to force everyone to pray to their version of God(s).
grazon 3 years ago
No, we acknowledge all of those beliefs as religions, but they have not shaped this country, yet Christianity has. No matter what you believe, at least admit that. Whats this your crying about a Hindu? I bet you have never heard of Father Sanders, an American Citizen, who was murdered in Mexico in 07. And how about you shed some tears for the 4 million babies that have been murdered since Roe v. Wade. J.R.R Tolkien was a strong Christian btw, as I see you are a fan of Lord of The Rings.
RiseofFooTwo 3 years ago
Yes i admit that Chrisitanity has played a role in the development of the usa, although most were not benefitcial, however, there is very little credit to those non-religous people that had a bigger affect on the development of the united States. You have Positive law theorists such as John Locke who played a bigger role in the independece of America.BTW if all of those beliefs are considered as relgion, then why is it that the neo-cons got mad for allowing a non-christian priest to lead prayers?
colbertLOTR91 3 years ago
John Locke was an Anglican.
grazon 3 years ago
so?Mother Teresa was a catholic nun, however she didnt believe in god.Besides, during that time, unless you were in some relgion, esspicially chrisitainity in Europe, was the best way to actually move in life.
colbertLOTR91 3 years ago
If Teresa didn't believe in God she would have left India.
grazon 3 years ago 2
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT COLBERTLOTR91?! Mother Teresa didn't believe in God? What planet are you from? Why would she be deemed Blessed Teresa and on the way to being canonized a saint if she didn't believe in God. She was a NUN for crying out loud! She spent 45% of her day in PRAYER!
RiseofFooTwo 3 years ago
Mother Teresa was very doubtful of the existance of god. "In my soul I feel just that terrible pain of loss, of God not wanting me — of God not being God — of God not existing. -Mother Teresa
btw about the situation in congress it is a hindu(i think) mink leading opening prayers and in the background u hear people yelling "Jesus forgive us, etc etc
colbertLOTR91 3 years ago
Nice Quote Mining.
Fact is if she didn't believe she would have left India.

Your rights don't come from God, you Mormon idiot, we humans made them up.
mw2000 3 years ago
What the Hell are you babbling about slavery for, that was about 150 years ago. And he's referring to the ten commandments genius, not the Bill of Rights. Don't get pissed off at America because socialism hasn't destroyed us like it has your Britain.
RiseofFooTwo 3 years ago
Uhm, I think you need to listen to that again. He says 'We get our rights from God.' Then the other chattering moron agrees with him. So I was referring to the rights of people. The 10 Commandments are stupid also, because the first 4 are about worshipping God, instead of telling people not to rape. Good work. How you read any of that into 'I hate America. Socialism is great, capitalism sucks' I don't know. Oh wait, yes I do, it's because you're an idiot.
mw2000 3 years ago
I don't follow you're logic...You hate America and Socialism is great because I am an idiot? What? And then Ten Commandments are not limited to the direct words of "Thou shall not...", they are deeper then that. For example, making fun of someone is classified as "Thou shall not kill" because you are murdering their pride. And rape would actually be directly related "Thou shall not commit adultery" you moron. Where do you get you're rights from, if not from God?
RiseofFooTwo 3 years ago
Are you illiterate? Re-read my message to say I'm not knocking America. And Britian is a democracy. Pay attention in school.
Anyway... The Ten Commandments are precisely limited to THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. Otherwise those ten would not be important, and there would be hundreds.
Still, it's clear you haven't even thought this through beyond the end of your nose. Does raping your wife count as adultery? Think that one through for a minute.
mw2000 3 years ago
You're right I am illiterate! What do you know of the ten commandments? If you're a jew, then I would understand why you would say that the ten commandments are limited to "Thou shall not...", which is what I think you meant to say, because then you wouldn't believe Jesus came to FULFILL them. The rules that are established by God are, unfortunately, almost entirely common sense and based off of moral value. Which is something you and the rest of Liberal America seems to be lacking.
RiseofFooTwo 3 years ago
And yes, socialist policies have crippled Britain.
RiseofFooTwo 3 years ago
'Where do you get you're rights from, if not from God? '
You don't 'get' rights from anywhere. They're made up. They've been made up continually as we've gone along. In the 1700s black people did not have the right to live freely. In the 1800s women did not have the right to vote. If these 'rights' came from God they would not a) have needed to be added throughout history, b) wouldn't be able to be stripped away by anybody. Agan, you're basic misunderstanding of this is funny.
mw2000 3 years ago
Do you honestly believe that rapists think it's ok to rape because the Bible doesn't say not to? Name one, just ONE, serious crime that was committed and the criminal said "Well the Bible never said I couldn't". Use logic. I never claimed America to be perfect, it has made mistakes, and yes the "rights" established by it have changed in a MINOR way. You have named two major changes, beyond that most things are pretty consistent.
RiseofFooTwo 3 years ago

Maybe he'll get a show on cnn or msnbc. who knows
whoo689 3 years ago
that would be nice, now Hannity gets to have his stupid ass show "Hannity's America" on 5 days a week, what a SUPRISE, and I don't think fox noise will allow colmes to have his own show.
mrwarped 3 years ago
90% believe in God. Wrong, Mr Beck. Absolutely wrong. It is estimated that somewhere between 15-20% of the American population are atheists. A further 15-20% of the population follow other religions, many of which do not pray in the same way Christians do. So there are at best 70% of the population that believe in Christ. I don't care if you pray in schools, but please don't overstate your numbers to try to make your self delusional cause seem more important.
mw2000 3 years ago
I am so SICK and fucking tired of this myth spread by Christian fundies that just because I'm an atheist, I believe rights come from the state. NO I DON'T! There IS an Enlightenment concept known as "natural rights." They can come from "god", or they can just exist.
And how dare these fucktar ds assume that I want the state to tell us what our rights are. I'm not some Hegelian jerkoff.
whoo689 3 years ago
Excellent point Dobson, our rights came from the ideas of our founding fathers who were for the most part Atheists, Secularists, and Deists.

We get our rights from society, we didn't go around murdering and raping indiscriminately and had to have a god to say it was wrong. If you do not have a conscience you are a sociopath, and society has a place for you, it's called a hospital for the criminally insane

They only put people like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity in front of the camera's on FOX 'news' to make Bill O'Reilly seem more moderate and sensible.

Actually I think it's the other way around. Compared to Hannity and Beck, O'Reilly is by far the lesser of two evils.
