  • like aids? wtf???

  • Does he say, "Aviation is like a disease--AIDS?" Why would you want to continue to "do it", as in get AIDS multiple times. I would compare it more to alcoholism.

  • Seems to me that Colgan Air is the only regional carrier that everyone bitches about lol.

  • second guessing becoming a pilot lmao

guy made 22k his first year for 16 hour shifts.... YIKES!

  • @iwillavengeyou

Or you could be a Military pilot. Make a lot more than 22k. And you're not an overworked, glorified bus driver either.

  • @JeezyLT7599 I hate military pilots who think their the best around. Your not. He is right though, the military is a viable route.

  • @LegendxHD

Sorry, but you don't get shot at while flying RJs. Aerobatics? Nope. Formation flying? Nope. You don't have to worry about ordinance, or anything tactical. Not to mention military pilots have to fly missions in Wx which others will not. Not only do you have to do everything a normal pilot does but more. Not that there's anything wrong with RJs but there's more exciting options out there. Not to mention better benefits for the risk you assume.

  • Lets raise awareness about this terrible issue. We should e-mail Colgan and demand they treat their pilots with the respect they deserve!!!!! Please like this comment so people will see it! Thank You

  • @macbookusrkid No one is forcing people to fly for Colgan. If you're not happy with your job, you should quit.

  • @N330AA I personally dont work for Colgan, I just believe that pilots deserve a lot of respect and better pay than what Colgan offers.

  • @macbookusrkid They deserve respect but they don't deserve more money than the market dictates.

  • @N330AA So you say 16K a year is reasonable?

  • @rev4life03 Yeah why not? The pilots who chose to do that job obviously thought so.

  • @N330AA I don't deny that they chose it but the market doesn't dictate that pay, the problem is pilots are willing to accept it with the thought that they will get that 6 figure salary soon..Wrong..

  • @rev4life03 Clearly the market does dictate that pay by virtue of the fact it's offered and people choose to do it. Unfortunately, it's there own stupid fault for not researching their career properly

  • @N330AA Its not about researching the career, the problem is that there are people out there willing to take that salary instead of saying no, the market is perfectly capable of of giving higher salaries, they just wont as long as there is bottom feeders out there willing to accept fast food wages for this job.

  • @rev4life03 This is what market forces are. If people of adequate skill are willing to work for that rate then that is by definition the worth of a pilot as dictated by the market.

  • Explain the weeeee sound the newbie first officer makes when he's landing in gale force

    crosswinds. 02:36 to 2:38

  • Please help me. I'm very sick in the head. I think this is funny.

  • Pilot are a lot like truck driver away from home a lot over worked and under paid. All they care about is there revenue not you .

  • I'm 48 and did the good career job for 16 years and couldn't wait to give it up to fly either regional or flying boxes. What they don't tell you, the first and second years suck, the pay will eventually get better. But if you're doing it for the pay you're in the wrong line of work.

The folks that make it put up with the crap and now they make decent money and fly the big rigs. It's better than working in a hospital and getting called in at 2 am to take care of a drunken illegal alien.

  • i'm guessing some pilots only ever stay at regional level.

  • You screwed up. You could have became a bus driver in Madison, WI where I live and you would be making 100k a year. for real.

  • do airlines pay for your help

  • Remember that this isn't the first rung on the ladder either. There's years of instructing, scenic, meatbombing etc on the poverty line before they even get to the regionals. Sell the dream, live the nightmare. Pilot error equals Management error.

  • This is so fucking awesome. Fuck salary who gives a shit. If i did this i would be living my dream AND its an experience of a fucking lifetime. I mean cmon your in your early 20's when you start this kind of career your not going to be getting paid as much as a fucking doctor (which takes 12 yrs of schooling so which sounds funner???) after watching this my goals and dreams are now set. I AM READY. REGIONAL AIRLINES HERE I COME.

  • @4RMORMECH - If this doesn't SCARE you, you will be fine... just be realistic and stay on top of things.

  • @4RMORMECH Be careful what you wish for.... I wish you the best. By all means, follow your dreams. But please do think long and hard before committing yourself to a dream that might very well become your worst nightmare.. After taking everything into account, is becoming a doctor really such a bad idea?

  • @workslave Yeah I understand where you're coming from. I have thought very long and hard, but really didn't have to. I've wanted this career since I was 5 years old- my first time being in an airline cockpit on my way to Hawaii I knew it's what I was going to do, but of course I am having second thoughts, the road is HARD long and very expensive and no GUARANTEES, but my hopes are still high. And I always thought anesthesiologists were cool, but I'm not that smart lol.

  • Good interviews, guy! Thanks for telling the truth!

  • regional pilots lack a lotta basic airmanship skills. they hire with such little time you're lucky to arrive alive.

  • EVERYONE!!! I need a favor........it's totally cool for everyone to voice and post their comments about their point of views in this particular video. However, I WILL NOT condone trash talking of other posters in here. I posted this video so that the public is educated about how these pilots live on a daily basis while working for a commuter airline - that's all. So therefore, save your trash talk at home where it belongs.

  • and that's why we hate faa ...

  • They knew the salary when they started. If they don't like it they can quit.

  • @colsonflight Yeah, you tell em' . Heck those pilots should pay to work at regional airlines those fuckers are getting type rated. Management busts their balls working day in and day out trying to figure out how to squeeze just a little more out of an airline. What do pilots do? Burn fuel and fart in the cockpit. Those pilots are stealing money from management. Those pilots should buy gifts and bribe management for favors. It's time management show those flyboy fuckers who's in charge.

  • @TalksWithDirt

Dude what is wrong with you? Burn fuel and fart in the cockpit? Quite a bold statement. How about you go see what its like to not be able to pay rent after spending $60,000 on flight training. I bet you would change your mind if your plan suddenly went into a spiral cause your pilot was fatigued.

  • @Mike072385 Ho ho ho, Im making fun of management. Im putting into words what those guys think. Im on your side. I made a outrageous statement to put words to the thoughts that drive the ourtrageous state of aviation.

  • @TalksWithDirt Should say TalksWithDickinHisMouth. You're less than shit and don't know a god damn thing about being a pilot. Fuck you, you piece of shit.

  • @TalksWithDirt Never mind. I read your newer post. Shit that had me pissed. :) JK about the dick in the mouth thing.

  • @dh05z28 You should be asking yourself ONE THING. What have you done for the company. Where's your company loyalty? Why won't you be poor for management? Why wont you work for free? Why are you upset you have to pay to work? Why do you hate the shareholders? You better straiten up fly right, love management, and do what ever the company says! And then only say good things about the company and worship the board of directors. NO UNIONS! All problems are pilot errors! That's good capitalism!

  • @TalksWithDirt Haha. I'm smellin what you're shittin.

  • @dh05z28 It's about time someone started asking ... Hey! Who farted! I wonder how much tickets really have to go up in order to pay crew like the professionals they are. I'll bet if you looked at the numbers and did the math, you'd find management and the shareholders are raping the companies and declaring a loss to keep wages low, and avoid taxes. If the losses are real, the government needs to come in and set a base salary below which crew cannot be paid, or pass a law saying no closed shops.

  • @TalksWithDirt My Bad misunderstood.

  • i absolutely hate and despise how these regional companies to exploit in such terrible ways it's pilots; just because they need the experience, these carriers take advantage of young pilots and necessity. the FAA should do something productive for once and make sure that pilots are treated right and getting at descent livable salary.

  • Well I never thought......Thanks for the insight, I feel for the pilots.

  • Many thanks for that

  • truth

  • a big thank you to the pilots in the interview... give the rest of us a good perspective...
