Perhaps if pay was tied to performance then GM wouldn't be where it is. If line employees don't produce they should be fired. If the top doesn't run a profitable company they (should be fired but they) get a bonus. Is GM headquarters in Springfield?
Given the suicides, mental and physical health manifestations of laid-off employees affected by failed corporate leadership, criminal charges are warranted for negligence - think Costa Concordia.
WE SHOULD HAVE LET GM AND CHRYSLER FAIL AND NEVER DID THAT DAMN STIMULUS BECAUSE I FOR ONE WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO A 31% UNEMPLOYMENT RATE.... DAMN SOCIALISTS!
@nateitong The saying goes with people as well. Many parents just toss money at their children when they need help but it just causes them to be dependent on that safety net built around them. Ever had roommates who are 35+ years old and hardly worked a day in their life? They just leech, like the system leeching off of it's people. Letting the law makers give to many breaks to big business in fear of chaos.
I love how american company bosses are able to bullshit their way with whitened teeth live on national TV without getting busted for it. Living moviestyle lives with private jets. These are white collar criminals and should be put in prison. Not exalted to the skies after having run americas manufactoring industry to the ground.
The problem is not the so cold "Socialism"... supposedly recently introduced... the problem was/is to pay a CEO 25 Million Dollars per year when the company (GM) was basically going under.
The stock market, still widely not regulated, is used to create a smoke screen so that some people can make lots of money at the expense of everybody else.
gm's led in sales from 1931 to 2008 .2010 there revenue 98.7 billion. and no its no fucking lie gm paid back there laon early and had alot of left oevr money to spend to.i should know i work there.
The cost is that GM now has an office of "Diversity Hiring" which is the same as a Marxist/Reperations foothold in one of America's largest companies. It is a handout to minorities and unions that persists after the funding is done. GM may have returned capital to the state but it hasn't returned the state to the capital - know what I mean?
GM is now the front running oligarchal monster that every constitution revering person should abhor.

@maleki9 No, they can't. The government still owns approximately 30% of GM even after the IPO. They're still Government Motors and every American has still lost money from GM's disgraceful bailout. And the next bailout GM will need in a year or two will be 10 times worse.
@electroplate@electroplate Of course the government still owns 34% of GM they're not going to dump all the stock right away, if you know anything about IPOs you never sell all of your shares right away. This disgraceful bailout saved at least a million jobs (thats according to the Center for Automotive Research), you shouldn't rely on Fox for all your "news" they're not exactly accurate.
@maleki9 You assume that anyone that opposes bailouts and government intervention in the economy has their opinions formed by Fox News? You're a joke. I've never watched Fox news in my life. Apparently you're caught up in left versus right politics. I don't care about left versus right, Sarah Palin, or Fox News. There are much bigger issues to be concerned about.
@electroplate No you misunderstand, its not left vs. right (although I bet you're a laissez faire libertarian nut), its smart vs. stupid. You're against the bailout so am I, however I'm mature enough to admit when you allow companies to get so big that they're cause irreparable damage to the economy if they fail then you need to step in and bail them out. If you want to scream about bailouts then scream about the ones that Bush engineered for the banks, you have to regulate to avoid bailouts.
@maleki9 You're repeating the same talking points that we've heard over and over again by people that have been proven wrong on the economy. Strangely, the same people that say that we must bailout companies that are so big that they'll cause irreparable damage to our economy are the same ones who were in control of the economy while the crisis was forming! I oppose all bailouts whether it's Bush or Obama's, Wall St. or Auto's.
@electroplate Except that I can back up my economic philosophy with examples of success, you're laissez faire approach has failed every time its been implemented think Chile in the 80s (Friedman was a joke). Regulation worked pretty well from 1934-1980, you can't give me a sustained period of economic growth (even the the 90s Clinton bubble) where the laissez faire approach has worked. Look at whats happened in Sweden since 1993, why isn't Canada suffering from a foreclosure crisis REGULATION!
@maleki9 I know now where you're coming from. You look at economics the same way as Bernanke and Geithner. How do you feel with Bernanke in control? The same guy that didn't see the crisis coming from a mile away. The same guy that just printed another $500 billion out of thin air to buy government debt. Good luck with that. And good luck to GM with the union running the show. Our economy and GM are headed for the same fate because of the policies you support.
@electroplate Wrong again Bob, I deplore Bernanke and Geithner since they used the hands off approach that got us here in the first place. By using Qualitative Easing (btw its $600B but whats a $100B among friends) the Fed is going to fight the effects of DEFLATION which is far greater threat then the non-existent threat of inflation. Furthermore you should be in love with Bernanke since he was in charge to over see this deregulated monstrosity that ur so in love with. We need VOLCKER @ the FED
@maleki9 I must LOL at your contention that Bernanke and Geithner presided over a hands off aproach. You're crazy if you think the economy was suffering from a lack of regulation. Quasi governmental agencies Fannie and Freddie, along with the corrupt bastards in Congress were heavily involved in the mortgage industry in years the crisis was being formed. Taxpayers are now on the hook for $ trillions due to the Fannie and Freddie debacle. There's govt regulation for ya.
@electroplate I have to admit you're better then most @ rewriting history. The reason Freddie & Fannie were used by the banks to dump their junk onto was exactly because of lack of regulation. The reason the banks were in position to do what they did was because they were encouraged to speculate and leverage themselves to no end (Commodities Future Modernization Act). Furthermore the abolishment of Glass Steagall allowed them to use their depositor's cash thus putting the FDIC on the hook.
@maleki9 And your statement that the threat of inflation is non-existent is just as laughable as when Bernanke says it. I won't even go into how far off base you are on inflation. You'll see it for yourself soon enough as price increases cause massive pain to all of us.
@electroplate the rate of inflation is far lower then it has been for decades, I don't know where you get your economic theories from, sounds something Glenn Beck spouts because hes uneducated and thinks he can use his folksy charm to explain complicated economic concepts to the troglodytes in his audience who in turn spew his nonsensical agitprop to the rest of the world.
@maleki9 You use Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, or any right wing boogieman of the day as a crutch for your weak arguments. As I said, I've never watched Fox and to me it's not relevant to this subject. Bottom lines: GM is toast and will soon need another bailout at taxpayer expense, inflation is headed our way rapidly, central economic planning will be once again proven ineffective. If you wake up to anything, I hope that it's the egregious lie of govt inflation statistics.
@electroplate Where to begin, I believe you when you say you don't watch Fox however, your arguments about the rate of inflation (or the economy in general) sound as benighted as those offered by Fox anchors. Furthermore you throw this spurious argument out there that GM is "toast" and it will require another bailout soon yet fail to evince your argument with data, point to another case similar to GM where such govt intervention has failed. Your arguments are riddled with libertarian tautology.
ford just screwed their own workers to stay afloat gm asked for help for their employees ford just wants profits and do not give a dam# about their employees
@smoke3571985 Profits are not as evil as you make them out to be. Without profits, Ford can't higher new workers or compete effectively against the other auto companies in that have been kicking its ass for decades. Also, as Ford's profits grow, so does the value of the stock that the employees hold. Look beyond the union vs. company mentality. Their fates are the same.
So now with a look at their website they are offering 365million shares to raise 13billion.
The Government will sell 265million shares for 7billion, UAW 70million and Canada will sell 30million shares. Why not just write a check to the Union the US & Canada Government right?
Fucking brilliant! The best thing our country could've done was to let GM fail. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and we did a giant leap towards socialism. Thanks, Obama! Long live Government Motors!
@electroplate fuc#ing morons this country has been a socialist country since the beginning. If you went to public school ever had to deal with the police. Ronald Reagan was a dictator not a socialist and he did kill social security helping people should be more important than socialist or not rights are just an illusion we think we have so if we can help each other with universal health care or help the poor from being animals and sleeping in the woods and starving we should or say fu#k it.
@electroplate Cool, its nice to have a real celebrity posting on YouTube, tell your mom I enjoy all her books, and I think you have the coolest name in the world Trip Palin, its too bad you're retarded, that'll happen when people inbreed, you have a nice day now, and don't forget to empty that drool bucket.
@maleki9 Speaking of retarded, your comment was the most useless and retarded I've seen on youtube. At least try to be witty if you're not going to say anything relevant.
@electroplate Since GM is now the largest IPO in the history of the country then whoever made this inaccurate spurious specious video can suck a bag of dicks!
@warpedhifi1 your right bush started the bail outs giving them 4.2 billion dollars, and obama gave them 54.2 billion. in other words both your dysfunctional political parties are epic fail. quit drinking kool aid and realize your non representing representatives in both parties screwed you.
@heknowsitall i didnt say "the government did not take over Chrysler and GM because Glen Beck says they did;" i said that the government didnt take them over DESPITE what glen beck says (glen says the government did, but in truth the government didn't).
and i agree with you that the government should stop catering to unions (i actually think they should be illegal). but regardless of the situation with unions, we need to regulate these corporate clowns. two separate issues.
@7475flyersfan fuc#ing morons this country has been a socialist country since the beginning.
@smoke3571985 i think you missed my point my point was that ford was smarter with saving there biz by selling off lines like land rover and jaguar while gm scrapped a classic ponitac and economical brand like saturn im sure some private billionair would have bought the line
My wife and I became GM owners within the last year, trading in our Lexus and BMW for a Buick Lacrosse and Regal. We love our cars, and are pleased with our purchase. I'm the consumer, and as long as they keep making cars I like, and give me no trouble, I couldn't care less how they're shuffling money, if they've paid back their loans or not, or the overall principle of the entire thing. It's no scandal. It's business, and as long as they keep me happy, I don't care how they conduct it.
i just wanted to post that i personally am not afraid of socialism or of 'government control of the auto industry,' it hasn't happened yet (despite what glen beck tells you) and it isn't going to happen and people can stop freaking out about it.
nonetheless, i think it is great that people are calling attention to gm's blatant attempt to deceive the american public. now if only there were some sort of body that represented all of us that could hold them accountable for what they say and do...
@ckirkwalsh "I am not afraid of socialism". If you care about solvency you would be. If you care about freedom you might. So the government did not take over Chrysler and GM because Glen Beck says they did? Really? Oh, so there should be a "body" to hold them accountable? That would be President Kickass and the US govt. but they are busy paying off their union goons or didn't you notice?
this video is bias, just because you dont want to admit that GM has sold so many cars in the past year to repay its debt just goes to show how desperate you people are to support ford rather then to give in to a truly better company....
and guess what atleast GM doesnt have to recall 33,000+ vehicles....
@heknowsitall you obviously have no sense of humor, I was applauding the satire of this ad. You do realize it is a spoof, don't you? Back the cave, Igor!

Now that Obama owns GM, he went ahead and relocated some of the factories to Mexico... I agree with buying FORD!! Anyone want to buy a nice used Tahoe?? Mines for sale...cheap!! LOL
@SpikeMaduro Why are you badmouthing socialism? This issue has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's the capitalist system that encouraged the the bailout of a giant, multinational corporation using money from the public. That is far removed from what socialism is.
@Nathano27 Yeah, Sweden is just a travesty, killing their own people and... wait, what? I think you're the one who needs to do a little research. The atrocities of Hitler were not inspired by socialist ideals. Do you even know what socialism is?
@tml4873 Yes Hitler wanted to make everyone look the same and only believed in one idea of religion and socially living. Socialism making everyone equal and the same... sound familiar???
@Nathano27 capitalism has done far worse killing and murdering indians forcing them into capitalism inslaving people capitalism socialism takes care of it's poor when it can capitalism says fuc# the poor i live in tennessee and hate capitalism ive live here for 25 years of my life its the most racist careless place around
@smoke3571985 What are you talking about? What does murdering Indians have anything to do with capitalism. All capitalism is is a concept of whoever makes the best products gets the most business. Its natural what ever people like the most thrives and is not held down by government,.
@heknowsitall Dude, you are the fucking moron. Regardless of what qualities you personally ascribe to "socialism", the USA is not a socialist government. Yet they are the ones responsible for the bailout of GM, and the capitalist economy is the environment that the company failed in. Here's a hint, socialism is for the benefit of the PEOPLE at large. This bailout is for the benefit of the corporation, which in turn benefits the few people most responsible for fucking it up in the first place.
@SpikeMaduro Ford got bailed out in the 1970's they would have been bankrupt they where the first socialist car company buy toyota if your gonna go socialist go all out!!!
@SpikeMaduro In doing so you will still support socialism as fords parts and most of its assembly is done in china japan and mexico. Plus you will support the continued outsorcing of jobs. If you really want to fight the tyranny i guess it's back to the horse and buggy days lol. Shoot a horse would probably be cheaper by now.
@sgpnc No he didn't, $6.7 billion payed cash, $50 billion payed in 60.1% of New GM that can be sold off as stock once the IPO starts next year. The taxpayer will profit from the GM bailout.
And of course, GM still controls nearly 20% of the market, even after cutting two volume brands, so I guess Americans will still continue to buy GM cars even if you make retarded comments.
@seymorass93 IPO next year? There will be no IPO next year, or if there is an IPO, it will pay back much, much less than what Obama put in. There won't be a breakeven IPO, because stock prices are based on discounted future earnings and when Government Motors is losing billions every quarter the value of the future earning is negative.
The best thing that could be done with Government Motors would be to shut it down as soon as possible.
@seymorass93 seymorass93 After losing billions yearly since 2004 and screwing their lenders in bankruptcy in 7-09, the fraudsters who run GM (Whitacre, the UAW, Obama) lost another $4 billion in the second half of 2009. How do you still lose money after bankruptcy? Incompetence top to bottom.
So GM made chump change in 1Q10? The $865 million they made is nothing compared to the money they have destroyed. Without stealing taxpayer money forever, GM will be back in bankruptcy in no time.
@sgpnc You seriously don't expect to have a company not even a year out of BK bring in $10 billion in profits, do you? They just went through a major restructuring, not all of that can take place in a month.
You have absolutely no understanding of how any of this works. Your an incompetent fool.
You can always bring the horse to the river, but it has to drink on it's own. I'm done arguing with you.
@seymorass93 The contraction for "you are" is "you're" not "your". I am CPA, expert in reporting for one of the largest global companies. One quarter's results can be manipulated to show a minor positive result. That is what the crooks at Government Motors are doing. Also, please look back at your responses to my comments. You have used the words "fool", "idiot", "dumbass", "retarded", etc. about me.
I wonder if you haven't been referring to yourself.
@sgpnc No, I was referring to you, and I'll continue to refer to you when using those words.
I doubt that you have more of an understanding on this matter than most people who write the retarded comments saying "Fuk GM, they are liars and government scum!" Maybe if you put up a good argument I would treat your comments more seriously, but until then, I will still call you a "fool," Idiot," "dumbass," and "retarded."
@seymorass93 LOL, GM drew down their capital account - the one funded by the purchase of equity in the company.... to pay back the legal debt. Probably a financially good move for GM, but they did not EARN anything to pay the government back with... they just used government funding from one account to pay down another.
I am curious, though, not being firmiliar with big business: is GM still a public company? Can they ever payoff the government and get back to business with normal managment?
Obviously its a 'public' company as in the government owns 61% in stocks. They have already paid off government for some of the loan( unused money), rest was not technically a loan but GM selling stocks for the money. If government needs to recoup the investment, they need to sell those stocks(not all at the same time).
@hutbay OK, so TECHNICALLY, if the government wanted to get out of the car business, they just have to sell their stocks, just like in any other business. Sounds like a pretty normal situation. I thought they did something ground-breaking... Just the government deciding they wanted to stick their nose into something that very well could have fixed itself. I sure hope the gov gets out of GM again...
Not for nothing but if I borrow 4 billion dollars and then give it back a year+ later; I've still have 'payed back the loan' even if I never used the money. It would have been more honest for GM to acknowledge America's continued investment in them but I don't think the original commercial was being dishonest.
Wow! Was that ever right on the mark!!! I loved it. Could you come up with something along the line of the "People's Republic of...?" That is sounding more like the way that it really is...
See what's coming next... they (the BHO Admin) took investments away from honest hard working Americans and gave the majority stake to... the UNION???? Who do they think precipitated the snowball to begin with? Who will Hugo... er, I mean, Barak take money from next? Anybody and everybody. I guess we all make too much money. Bad Americans!! :)
@blh557 fuc#ing morons this country has been a socialist country since the beginning. If you went to public school ever had to deal with the police. Does anyone think this is funny , or what is your take from this ...? Anyone have a GM they want to trade or another make they would like to trade for a GM ...Either way I am here to help
You can just read any bullshit some writer posted to get hits online and all of a sudden you know everything.
GM is releasing 1Q reports tomorrow, they are going to make a profit. Once the IPO starts late '10 early '11 the government will be payed back in full from selling there stake, former bondholders will also get a fair share.
Again, look at it in full, not just a little snippet. And to anyone who wants to fight me on youtube, I don't care.
Compelling video, but is IT true, or politics? I am not in favor of bailouts or wasteful government spending, but I do think we need to get our economy back to a stable state, for the good of all Americans. Our country not only needs to hang on to what little bit of manufacturing we have left, but we need to create even more manufacturing to survive. The 52 billion that GM got is chump change compared to the HUNDREDS of billions that the financial institutions took so they could get bigger.
@Commenter6384 Not to mention GM will probably be one of the only companies the Gov't will profit off of. Once the IPO starts late '10 early '11, the Gov't will sell their stake.
Everyone is forecasting it will be a must have stock.
@seymorass93 The only problem I can see with your post is the information in the spoof is factually correct, whereas yours is more of an "everybody knows" line of, well. to put it politely, a red herring.
If I had done what the UAW and government did to the bond holders, I would now be in jail.
Go ahead and buy the stock. It's still mostly a free country. Chevy makes some pretty nice vehicles (Traverse/Acadia are first rate). But when it comes to owners vs. union the feds choose union.
seymorass93 , who's everybody? Oh, there will be some bllod suckers that wil get in early, make their profits and run for the hills. Then there wil be some dummimes who buy and hold and will sooner rather than latter end up like the ohter suckers that lost everything on their GM stock. The old saying "screw me once shame on you" Screw me twice shame on me" applies.

Now GM is using our money to outsource engineering and design abroad. The upcoming cruze was basically created in Korea by Daewoo, and the next generation Corvette maybe engineered in Australia by Holden.
As a retiree of one of the two domestic automotive companies now owned by the government and unions, I refuse to own a chrysler or gm product....bought a Ford. We'll continue to buy Ford products unless and until the government and union pull the same crap with Ford and its shareholders. If that happens, we'll have a Honda or BMW in our garage built in the U.S. without the union label.
@melovetorun Do you realize that Ford, GM and Chrysler have more imported parts on them than Toyota or Honda??? I have no dog in the race, I drive a BMW... that's what a car should be made like. Just pointing out the "foriegn car" misconception.
@pcgreer Add nissan to the list. They are the most from CHINESE parts. Take some cars apart, Change some parts on these cheap new cars and you will see what I mean w/o being a wiseass about it.
@ghtowagon If you knew then why did you start talking about Nissan? Why say anything about them? At least they are building more plants in this country and employing AMERICANS to build their cars. The American car companies are going to other countries to build theirs and then wonder why no one wants then anymore.
@ghtowagon You really don't get it. American cars are full of foreign parts and assembled in other countries. The Japanese, who you seem to hate, are putting AMERICANS to work. Who do you like better? The company helping Americans or the company sending jobs overseas?
@ghtowagon I guess we should also hate the Spanish, Mexicans, English, Germans, Italians, etc. since we fought against them too. Who are we supposed to be friends with? From your logic we should just close our borders completely and tell everyone to kiss our ass.
@hareball American cars were built by americans longer in history than nissan, an Asian Manufacture using Chinese parts. American companies are moving their opperations overseas because they cannot complete with Asian markets. American products can no longer compete In america. It is as simple as that. All our industry is dieing, As a concerned American citizen living in America who LIKES America (I dont know about you) I am concerned.
So this is that "great gm feeling" those old comercials were talking about...

@electroplate @electroplate Of course the government still owns 34% of GM they're not going to dump all the stock right away, if you know anything about IPOs you never sell all of your shares right away. This disgraceful bailout saved at least a million jobs (thats according to the Center for Automotive Research), you shouldn't rely on Fox for all your "news" they're not exactly accurate.
maleki9 1 year ago
@maleki9 You assume that anyone that opposes bailouts and government intervention in the economy has their opinions formed by Fox News? You're a joke. I've never watched Fox news in my life. Apparently you're caught up in left versus right politics. I don't care about left versus right, Sarah Palin, or Fox News. There are much bigger issues to be concerned about.
electroplate 1 year ago
@electroplate No you misunderstand, its not left vs. right (although I bet you're a laissez faire libertarian nut), its smart vs. stupid. You're against the bailout so am I, however I'm mature enough to admit when you allow companies to get so big that they're cause irreparable damage to the economy if they fail then you need to step in and bail them out. If you want to scream about bailouts then scream about the ones that Bush engineered for the banks, you have to regulate to avoid bailouts.
maleki9 1 year ago
@maleki9 You're repeating the same talking points that we've heard over and over again by people that have been proven wrong on the economy. Strangely, the same people that say that we must bailout companies that are so big that they'll cause irreparable damage to our economy are the same ones who were in control of the economy while the crisis was forming! I oppose all bailouts whether it's Bush or Obama's, Wall St. or Auto's.
electroplate 1 year ago
@electroplate Except that I can back up my economic philosophy with examples of success, you're laissez faire approach has failed every time its been implemented think Chile in the 80s (Friedman was a joke). Regulation worked pretty well from 1934-1980, you can't give me a sustained period of economic growth (even the the 90s Clinton bubble) where the laissez faire approach has worked. Look at whats happened in Sweden since 1993, why isn't Canada suffering from a foreclosure crisis REGULATION!
maleki9 1 year ago
@maleki9 I know now where you're coming from. You look at economics the same way as Bernanke and Geithner. How do you feel with Bernanke in control? The same guy that didn't see the crisis coming from a mile away. The same guy that just printed another $500 billion out of thin air to buy government debt. Good luck with that. And good luck to GM with the union running the show. Our economy and GM are headed for the same fate because of the policies you support.
electroplate 1 year ago
@electroplate Wrong again Bob, I deplore Bernanke and Geithner since they used the hands off approach that got us here in the first place. By using Qualitative Easing (btw its $600B but whats a $100B among friends) the Fed is going to fight the effects of DEFLATION which is far greater threat then the non-existent threat of inflation. Furthermore you should be in love with Bernanke since he was in charge to over see this deregulated monstrosity that ur so in love with. We need VOLCKER @ the FED
maleki9 1 year ago
@maleki9 I must LOL at your contention that Bernanke and Geithner presided over a hands off aproach. You're crazy if you think the economy was suffering from a lack of regulation. Quasi governmental agencies Fannie and Freddie, along with the corrupt bastards in Congress were heavily involved in the mortgage industry in years the crisis was being formed. Taxpayers are now on the hook for $ trillions due to the Fannie and Freddie debacle. There's govt regulation for ya.
electroplate 1 year ago
@electroplate I have to admit you're better then most @ rewriting history. The reason Freddie & Fannie were used by the banks to dump their junk onto was exactly because of lack of regulation. The reason the banks were in position to do what they did was because they were encouraged to speculate and leverage themselves to no end (Commodities Future Modernization Act). Furthermore the abolishment of Glass Steagall allowed them to use their depositor's cash thus putting the FDIC on the hook.
maleki9 1 year ago
@maleki9 And your statement that the threat of inflation is non-existent is just as laughable as when Bernanke says it. I won't even go into how far off base you are on inflation. You'll see it for yourself soon enough as price increases cause massive pain to all of us.
electroplate 1 year ago
@electroplate the rate of inflation is far lower then it has been for decades, I don't know where you get your economic theories from, sounds something Glenn Beck spouts because hes uneducated and thinks he can use his folksy charm to explain complicated economic concepts to the troglodytes in his audience who in turn spew his nonsensical agitprop to the rest of the world.
maleki9 1 year ago
@maleki9 You use Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, or any right wing boogieman of the day as a crutch for your weak arguments. As I said, I've never watched Fox and to me it's not relevant to this subject. Bottom lines: GM is toast and will soon need another bailout at taxpayer expense, inflation is headed our way rapidly, central economic planning will be once again proven ineffective. If you wake up to anything, I hope that it's the egregious lie of govt inflation statistics.
electroplate 1 year ago
@electroplate Where to begin, I believe you when you say you don't watch Fox however, your arguments about the rate of inflation (or the economy in general) sound as benighted as those offered by Fox anchors. Furthermore you throw this spurious argument out there that GM is "toast" and it will require another bailout soon yet fail to evince your argument with data, point to another case similar to GM where such govt intervention has failed. Your arguments are riddled with libertarian tautology.

So they owe 45.3 Billion really, and this explains why the Government owns 61% right?
So now they are doing a public offering again, and the government is waiting to sell it shares right?

So now with a look at their website they are offering 365million shares to raise 13billion.
The Government will sell 265million shares for 7billion, UAW 70million and Canada will sell 30million shares. Why not just write a check to the Union the US & Canada Government right?

If you care about freedom you might. sgpnc 1 year ago
@sgpnc No he didn't, $6.7 billion payed cash, $50 billion payed in 60.1% of New GM that can be sold off as stock once the IPO starts next year. The taxpayer will profit from the GM bailout.
And of course, GM still controls nearly 20% of the market, even after cutting two volume brands, so I guess Americans will still continue to buy GM cars even if you make retarded comments.
seymorass93 1 year ago
@seymorass93 IPO next year? There will be no IPO next year, or if there is an IPO, it will pay back much, much less than what Obama put in. There won't be a breakeven IPO, because stock prices are based on discounted future earnings and when Government Motors is losing billions every quarter the value of the future earning is negative.
The best thing that could be done with Government Motors would be to shut it down as soon as possible.
sgpnc 1 year ago
@sgpnc They just made a profit last quarter dumbass, you could try looking at the most recent news before writing your comments, but you didn't.
And that makes you an idiot.
seymorass93 1 year ago
@seymorass93 seymorass93 After losing billions yearly since 2004 and screwing their lenders in bankruptcy in 7-09, the fraudsters who run GM (Whitacre, the UAW, Obama) lost another $4 billion in the second half of 2009. How do you still lose money after bankruptcy? Incompetence top to bottom.
So GM made chump change in 1Q10? The $865 million they made is nothing compared to the money they have destroyed. Without stealing taxpayer money forever, GM will be back in bankruptcy in no time.
sgpnc 1 year ago
@sgpnc You seriously don't expect to have a company not even a year out of BK bring in $10 billion in profits, do you? They just went through a major restructuring, not all of that can take place in a month.

@seymorass93 The contraction for "you are" is "you're" not "your". I am CPA, expert in reporting for one of the largest global companies. I wonder if you haven't been referring to yourself.

@sgpnc No, I was referring to you, and I'll continue to refer to you when using those words.
I doubt that you have more of an understanding on this matter than most people who write the retarded comments saying "Fuk GM, they are liars and government scum!" BTW, you put the commas within the quotations :p

I am curious, though, not being firmiliar with big business: is GM still a public company? Can they ever payoff the government and get back to business with normal managment?
NellsStuff 1 year ago
@NellsStuff
Obviously its a 'public' company as in the government owns 61% in stocks. They have already paid off government for some of the loan( unused money), rest was not technically a loan but GM selling stocks for the money. If government needs to recoup the investment, they need to sell those stocks(not all at the same time).
hutbay 1 year ago
@hutbay OK, so TECHNICALLY, if the government wanted to get out of the car business, they just have to sell their stocks, just like in any other business. Sounds like a pretty normal situation. I thought they did something ground-breaking... Just the government deciding they wanted to stick their nose into something that very well could have fixed itself. I sure hope the gov gets out of GM again...

Not for nothing but if I borrow 4 billion dollars and then give it back a year+ later; I've still have 'payed back the loan' even if I never used the money. @melovetorun Do you realize that Ford, GM and Chrysler have more imported parts on them than Toyota or Honda??? I have no dog in the race, I drive a BMW... that's what a car should be made like. Just pointing out the "foriegn car" misconception.
pcgreer 1 year ago
@pcgreer That is false GO take apart a American car and a Asian car and really examine the parts besides repeating what someone tells you

@ghtowagon Lol...must have struck a nerve... I opologize, I didn't realize we have an actually design and purchasing engineer here on youtube.
So you've dismantled Hondas, Toyotas, Fords, Chevy's and Chryslers and done a piece by piece analyses? I'm impressed.

@pcgreer Add nissan to the list. They are the most from CHINESE parts. Take some cars apart, Change some parts on these cheap new cars and you will see what I mean w/o being a wiseass about it.

@ghtowagon Nissan isn't an American company and didn't ask Obama for govt money.
hareball 1 year ago
@hareball I knew that thanks for the information.
ghtowagon 1 year ago
@ghtowagon If you knew then why did you start talking about Nissan? Why say anything about them? At least they are building more plants in this country and employing AMERICANS to build their cars. The American car companies are going to other countries to build theirs and then wonder why no one wants then anymore.

@ghtowagon You really don't get it. American cars are full of foreign parts and assembled in other countries. The Japanese, who you seem to hate, are putting AMERICANS to work. Who do you like better? The company helping Americans or the company sending jobs overseas?
hareball 1 year ago
@hareball The once American company who helped us fight against the japanese.
Americans can no longer compete in America. Its a crisis
ghtowagon 1 year ago
