I remember the first time I played super mario bros 3, I was 4 and my mom rented it for me, back then I had Mario 1/duckhunt, operation wolf, Ninja turtles 2, Mike Tysons punch out, Zelda, Megaman 2 and Wrestlemania for the Nes, good days.
I remember the first time i played super mario 3. I was over at my uncles house , when he brought the game out i was amazed. The funny thing was that i was 5 and that was in 2001 i still love the game
I use to glitch and make the cane go up mario's butt when he fell from the sky. I anticipated this game so much, waiting for the nintendo power to get in, so I could look for any info. and I actually watched that damn commercial movie the wizard. Mario will always be #1. Especially Super Mario 3.
Iggy's world (Giant Land) was my fave. \8-D It always interested me how such a relatively diminuitive Ko0paling could rule a land of giants. I always felt bad about beating him. And Lemmy. And Larry to0. Like I was picking on a bunch of kids. Not exactly innocent, per se', but still kids nontheless.
\8-(
Well, Iggy was demented, sure, but that probably helped him do his job better.
Spot on - your description made me also think of my past years and how I was anticipating/reading about games. It wasnt mario, it was sonic, but oh well !
The new super mario bros wii game looks great with the return of the koopa kids and new suits like the penguin suit. How can you go wrong, but still super mario bros 3 will be the best mario game. 2d side scrollers are the most fun by far. I'm subscribing for sure to your channel. Check out my channel for future video game features.
Personally ,I never liked SMB3 that much, but I have had the same feeling with you, GamingJew, about Sonic 3. That game was gonna be the coolest game ever, and when I played it as a 6 year old, it delivered, in spades. So yeah, this was a very nice vi, that kinda reminded me of how I felt about sonic 3. :)
looks like galaxy surpassed our expectations immensely, just like this jem of a game (mario 3). except mario 3 is the god of mario games and always will be
I remember buying mario 3 with the $50 I had saved. For a kid the age I was that was monumental. I still have the game, the manual and even the original box. yep I was the kind of kid who saved the box. it's probably the best looking box for a video game ever ~ all yellow with just mario flying. CLASSIC.
You described my feelings to when I played Yoshi's Island-The first game I ever played, and my favorite game.
Lets hope Mario Galaxy will bypass our expectations and make something awesome as smb3 was, when it came out.
What I really look forward to, is Super Smash Bros Brawl.A platformer and fighting game combined! It is possibly Kirby's newest platformer since knowing sakurai, Kirby will play a big role somehow.
I wanted super mario brothers 3, and there I was as was always the case at the store looking at other games as well deciding which one I was going to buy. SM3 was definitely in the considering pool but the box art and back of some of the other games were just so darn cool looking to. I was torn, my mom kept saying super mario brothers 3 outloud. And eventually I went for the safe bet, sure am glad I didnt miss out and the best game for the nes.
You know this video is really really nice. I am 18 so I never really was old enough to say I was amped for the release of a old Mario game, despite the fact that I got a NES for my 1st birthday. sadly I never was subscribed to Nintendo power, so I didn't know as a tot when games were coming out, but when I got the internet and start looking into things, you described the very way I felt about Zelda: OoT.
ummm..... so GUYS what the hell is stopping you from whipping out a nintendo and playing the damn game......umm yeah why say good memoiries when you can re-live it!!!again !!!!! i mean JEEeZe...i still do it..
I hear yah man. I remember I was around 8 years old and I couldn't sleep a wink on one Christmas Eve b/c I knew that my parents knew that wanted this game so bad. I had thoughts of the commercials I saw on tv and dreamt that night of how awesome of a game this would be and I still go back and play it over and over to this day. No wonder its the top selling video game ever in the entire world.
I can relate in terms of the level of anticipation.... I felt the same way about the first of the Star Wars prequels.... It was the most anticipated media entertainment event of my entire life. I was a bit let down that the end result didn't meet my expectations though...
Thank you man, Thank you for putting this video up to show people what game were like and should be like today from back then. Super Mario is the best there is.
This came out when I was at my prime as a gamer. I saw the Wizzard in the theater and I almost died. One of my greatest moments was being the first person in my class and among my friends to own the game.. it literally coming out on my birthday while all the other kids had to wait until Christmas or Hanukkah. Great Memories. I now play it on my DS and I'll never forget that great feeling this game brings.
It was probably one of the first games I played, or the one I still remember playing. It was at my cousins house and I always played their NES. Even though my first console was a Playstation and later a PS2 I have a Wii now and I enjoy it.
I didn't get this when it first came out I don't even think I was alive then, but I did play every mario game in my childhood, it was like something else was amazing,
I know you dont like RPG's but they are my favorite games. And when a new final fantasy , xenosaga or anything from Atlus come out...I get just as excited as back then. I think that to some people (despite that I'm not young anymore) young and old still feel this way about some games.
yeah I don't get why this game is so good... it might be just the idea of a deep, rich adventure, it might be the bars and the screens at the bottom, the whole graphical setup is like... I dunoo, a deep-ass book with pages and pages of cool little monsters... still appealing in that way.

The first Mario game that I ever played is Super Mario Land on the Game Boy.
As for the console generation I would have to say Super Mario 64!
It's a good thing we have the Virtual Console on the Wii. That way we can play our old time classics again or for the first time! :)
