That section of the mall is empty because they are going to rip it down and make an open shopping center out of it with parking in front like it originally was up until the late 70s or so. The rest of the mall will remain an enclosed mall. They are supposedly going to make improvements and have more "upscale" stores -- We'll see...

@mystratocaster It actually is. :-P Me and my buddy have made a 30 minute drive to gawk at the same dying mall, like, four weeks in a row. It's just cool.
