  • I love both versions... Sia gave more romantism and sexuality to the song, what I think is great! But of course, men would hate it! LOL

    Peace & Love, people!

  • See ya Sia, The Church owns this song. This second rate coffee house crap hurts my ears.

  • Ha ha, YES! Although I do think this is a very nice version (The Church's original is of course superb), I think your post is fantastic. Well said!

  • sia is NICE, I'm from seattle and I really think she does this song justice

  • So great I wan to bang this song,

  • @txzen legit.

  • Loved this song since I heard it on the Lincoln MKT commercial. Awesume song.

  • @RedRoseOfNY - Me too. That's what led me here. Google is my friend!

  • Sweet Re-Make of an old "The Church" tune.....I like this one.......Well done Cheeers.....El Fat Boy Texcino

  • i heard this song on a car commercial.

  • Sia's awesome! I never would have expected her to do this song. She did it better than The Church. Ok, now you can send me you're hate mail.

  • haha i totally agreeeeeeeee <3

  • Just feel the need to remind everyone that this is a cover. Originally done by "The Church", from the CD "Starfish" in 1988.

  • this song is greeat

  • Kangaroo fucking aussies.

  • it is not important in life to necessarily be strong, but to feel strong...

  • and boys Sia is performing at Coachella in California this year! @MasterWitchDoctor Coachella is one of the biggest concerts of the year people come for all over the world check it out... They must just want to have low ticket sales this year;-) Love You Sia! Much Love and Respect xo

  • Ever heard of Bonnaroo? It's in Manchester Tennessee every summer? That's one of the largest concerts every year, I lived 30 minutes from there for 10 years and never went 1 time.

Even when Zeppelin played there a couple years ago (1st time Zeppelin was together in decades).

  • You just completely missed the point and started to talk about conspiracy theories...omfg if this was a debate I would argue extra-topicality hahaha.

Numerous events in history have taken place for the purpose of entertainment. Entertainment doesn't only pertain to music. Think the Gladiators of Rome, or perhaps any great Shakespearian play performed, or even the 2002 World Cup which had more than 1.3 BILLION viewers. The list goes on forever.

  • lmao the superbowl has nothing on the world cup. its the biggest sporting event in the world. the superbowl just cant compare.

  • well I cant argue with there you but real men fight for the STANLEY CUP!

  • @MasterWitchDoctor wtf? dude, you've been spamming this page for aaaages. go find something else to do..

and btw, learn how to spell :D

  • The Dux WERE the General's. Dux literally means leader in latin (noun form of ducere which means "to lead") which is where we gained the English word Duke. So yes one equivalent modern form of the word would be Duke but you would have forgotten the literal translation. Of course where was no word for "General" in latin but the meaning of the position was the same.

  • They had to command at least 2 legions which in todays equivalents would make them the equivalent of a General in today's US armed services considering what a legion was. The only reason a Dux had the same type position as a "Duke" politically was the fact that the military was in fact an arm of the government in Rome so any officer in the military automatically had political power even if gained through means other than heredity.

  • But like I said earlier, you're completely missing the point. And I don't care enough to repeat myself, so have a nice life.

  • (1 of 2) Hey now boys... "He who angers you conquers you"... Don't let him get to you. Damn MasterWitchDoctor who let you out of your cage? You must know that most of the people watching this video are fans of Sia, so you must get some sick pleasure out of pissing people off... everyone is entitled to there own opinion but seriously anyone who told you to be yourself couldn't have given you worse advice...

  • LMAO

  • haha funny guy

  • haha funny guy

  • This sucks. The song is popular yet, it's not on iTunes by Sia! CHEESE BUTT!

  • it's pretty cool that they use this song on that car commercial

  • I'd just like to make a point here:

    Your- belongs to you.

    You're- you are

    Come on, people!

  • And you're point is?

  • well witchdoctor, how bout you just let us enjoy her music and you can go off somewhere and try to be better and more successful than she is. good luck with that, because it ain't gonna happen :D

  • I'm a biochemist making 6 figures a year. this Sia won't be remembered in a year. As far as me I'm the guy your Doctor calls when he/she can't cure you. It happened when i got my degree upon graduation from med school many moons ago. FYI I am an expert in mRNA viruses, so like 90% of the people around your opinion is completely and totally viod of any value.

  • guys knock it off

  • Comment removed

  • dope track. i actually like this a little better than the original. the spacey ambience, the overdubs, and they bass/ mixdown are great. that reversed solo is nice as well.

  • lol overdubs and mixes are used in lue of talent. As a musician who has been schooled in classical orchestra and guitar by a Segovia under study anyone who needs any of the electronics has no talent. None of the "artists" of the past 20 years could create any of the sound they use the studio to "fill in the voids." This isn't very good from the stand point of pure talent so please don't act like such an expert, I'm sure can't can't read a note.

  • masterwitchdoctor-

wow your a fucking douche, get a life asshole. almost 50 years old and apparently life has taught you nothing. I merely gave my opinion and you attack me personally. you are the the one trying to act like the expert here. i said nothing about talent, only that i like this version better. im not at all trying to discredit the church who actually wrote the fucking song but i like the production of this version and the way it plays on the theme.

  • lol everytime I'm brought into court by a plaintiff attorney it's because I am an expert. As far as music is concerned I'm an expert there too, thats why I went to med school. This girl is a nobody and won't be remembered. People like that are called no notes in history. Entertainers are completely useless as far as contributing to society is concerned. They aren't history makers, they're only entertainers, at best foot notes. Frank Sinatra, Elvis, The Beatles, and Micheal Jackson are footnotes

  • So when you ask any entertainer about a genetic anomaly or what an okazaki fragment is they'll be totally lost. Because it's not scripted to them by a writer that has a medical adviser to assist in the writing. So when you get ill thank a guy like me in a lab that spends almost all his time figuring out the mechanics of a micro organism so your Doctor can kill it. Do you honestly think this Sia chick could possibly explain DNA replication or what transcription/translation is? i

  • wtf is wrong with you? your a classic example of someone with an inferiority complex. did anyone ask if your a doctor? elvis , sinatra are footnotes? then what the fuck are you? the music of these people makes others happy and takes them back to their youth. if you walk around talking like this in the real world your going to need a doctor to remove someones foot from your ass. your a know it all troll that knows nothing. get of your high horse asshole.

  • Oke 1st off kid, inferiority complex? To who? you? This wanna be singer? My work saves peoples lives. How many people have you ever help? How many people have you increased the quality of life? It's a very short list because the answer is none? Now to get on with a real effort can you say iggy?

  • your obviously jealous toward people who are happy with their careers and are talented, revered and make others happy. im sorry you have no fans but can you not understand why nobody likes you? go bother people outside so they can kick your teeth down your throat like i would you pompous douchebag. skill for debate? your not even talking about the same subject matter. you must not be a doctor because you are obviously lacking in intelligence. i don't care nor have the time to argue with idiots

  • LMAO@you now. Kick my teeth out now I'm ROFL.

  • History makers are people like Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Adolf Hitler, JFK, ect... Entertainers aren't studied in any college history class, try taking American People and see for yourself. They're at best a foot note in history, a paragraph at the bottom of a page in a history book with an astrict next to it is where you will find only the biggest entertainers. The rest are no notes, like this poor girl who won't be around within even a year from now. Singers are the least important.

  • Of course a college history course would provide minimal insight on the entertainers of that respective period, yet that is a horrible measure of entertainers importance in history. In actuality, their are entire classes that pertain to entertainers ect. And really, if you think music, or entertainers have had little effect on a historical scale than you are a fool; as they have been momentous.

But really, all I'm trying to say is that you're an idiot.

  • a college course that studies entertainment history isn't human history. Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, ect... had a much larger impact on history than all the entertainers in history (past, present, and future combined) will ever have. Caesar created the Julian calendar, what is Elvis known for, being called Elvis the Pelvis by Ed Sullivan? Galileo discovered many stars in the Milky way galaxy and proven along with the Magellan that the Earth is round, what did Sanatra

  • Sinatra do? Get his teeth knocked out in 1969 by a Vegas club owner because he was an arrogant jerk? Nicoli Tesla protected A/C current which everyone on Earth uses daily (thank him every time you use any electrical device that plugs into a wall including your PC) what Micheal Jackson do? Molest children after getting them drunk on Jesus Juice? your theories don't hold water and in a debate I'd own you all me verses you. So get over it, as I said this girl Sia is a nobody.

  • profected A/C current"

  • perfected"

  • Ok calm down hotshot. Firstly, I presented no theories, so that was really a reference to nothing. Indubitably those characters you mentioned have had a left large historical footprints. No one has said other wise. The point it your premise is completely wrong. A persons isn't not measured by their impact on history. Yes, Alexander the Great conquered the known world; quite remarkable really...but does that mean he was any "better" than

  • the troubadours of southern France that revolutionized music? No. And that's the point. Now, I couldn't care less about Sia, or many musicians for that matter. But to belittle them because they aren't in a history book, that's just silly, and that's what everyone is trying to get across. Also, most forms modern formal debate are just jokes so stop revering as some godly measure of your manhood.

  • I bet you can't name 5 events that took place in which were "entertainment." Woodstock? That's the only one. Hands across America? That's not even remembered now. Live Aid? That had zero effect because the New World Order controls the United Nations and causing starvation and disease in North Africa is the agenda. The want to reduce world population and this is exactly what they're getting because it's the plan of the global elite.

So what are your 5 events seeing these 3 have been discredited

  • @TheFreshPeddler

You should check out the Zero 7 song that Sia co-wrote and sings lead on called "Destiny". It is very ethereal, like her Church cover. You would also probably enjoy School of Seven Bells "Half Asleep". Of course, Sia's "Breathe Me" is great. I think anyone who enjoys this cover will like these songs as well.

  • mama- thanks, i checked them out. i liked the destiny song, had a bit of a more structured portishead sound with the drums. didnt really care for the other 2 but im usually not into real soft vocals unless its like portishead or has some really crazy/ weird music behind it. i see the douche below is still arguing, although as an elo fan i have to credit him for bringing up elo, if you havent heard of them "ticket to the moon" is a great song with a lot of others not counting the disco songs

  • Glad to hear someone give ELO props!!

  • masterwitchbitch-

no overdubs dont have to be used in lue of talent, especially in the manner they were used for this track. they were added for effect and sia had to sing those parts as well. if you knew anything about music you would know that a poor voice overdubbed wont sound any better and a great singer with a horribly mixed track won't either. you obviously no very little about production or life in general. your 50 fucking years old, don't act like an immature child.

  • Your insults are weak minded and show me that using them means you have very little skill for debate. Insults are the last act of a desperate man. Think twice before speaking once because a debate with you is futile for me to even bother with, there is nothing to gain so please waste someone else's time.

  • masterwitch-

if you wanna go around disrespecting people and being a rude know it all, at least grow a pair of balls and do it to someone's face and not from behind the safety of your computer. there's a proper way to state your opinion without insulting someone who has a differing one. I bet your a very pathetic sinical, and bitter little person.

  • Sir! My respect to you. You are a master of talking in a very polite way to a complete asshole!! Very smart answer comes from a very smart persons! Regards..

  • noname-

thanks, although i dont know how polite i was lol, but i could have been worse. the funny thing is mr classically trained asshole has no uploads and favorited a synth heavy shakira video which goes against all of his disdain for electronic music.

  • lol a gorgeous chick in a video isn't hard to figure out. It's about the girl in the video not the music. My favorate song is Fire on High by ELO.

  • i love elo but that doesn't change the fact that your an annoying, immature, lonely, pathetic person. you ASSume that i have done nothing in my life to help others but all you are doing is making an ass of yourself. like i said im done arguing with you about shit that has nothing to do with the song or anything else for that matter. i suggest you seek psychological help because you have more issues than a news stand, and you know thats true. your not a very bitter, lonely person. good luck

  • *you aret a very bitter, lonely person. good luck

  • cool but bigger fan of the Church

  • The Church version is better, however she does a great job of it. She is awesome.

  • Sia`s voice is amazing~

Does anyone know what kind of guitar? effects that is at 2:22?

  • @6stringun

sounds like a guitar solo recorded, than played backwards...a la Hendrix

  • Thanks, thought maybe an FX pedal~

  • @68dodger -

Hendrix played the guitar "backwards" or "upside down", because he was left handed playing a right handed guitar. It was not recorded and "played backwards".

    Just FYI.

  • @Shazbat5

Yes he does...I'm glad you know that, cuz anyone who takes the time to know something about Hendrix is a friend of mine. By now I'm sure you know that wasn't what I was talking about.

  • @8stringun

Yeah, its definitely a guitar solo played backwards.

  • @XaleManix, Thanks~

  • pitch tuning probably

  • Comment removed

  • Warren DeMartini of Ratt and the great Joe Satrinani have created that exact same sound using a Phase V pedal and Fender Jaguar. Seeing that guitar is very expensive and this is a low budget production I'm sure they probably used a Strat in it's place. Harmonics aren't very hard to create and most any of the modern pedal arrangements can create any sound you want.

  • Joe Satriani*

  • @MasterWitchDoctor your comments are annoying and counterproductive.

  • who cares what you think

  • obviously you or you wouldnt have replied.

  • @ MasterWitchDoctor, Thanks also. I do have 2 Strats, and many FX pedals, time to play around and see what I can hear. And even play it backwards, its all good~

  • Good luck with that dude...check out "castles in the sand" by Hendrix and I think there's a Red Hot Chilli Pepper's tune as well, that use the backward recording technique. Just google "reverse recording technique", you'll find something.

  • Ok....."reverse guitar solo recording technique" turn up a few good sites.

  • bmw redhead accept me plz at ur my space

  • awesoime cover but church is 1 of a kind orgiinal but her version i love now and i am savin this entire version as i watch lincoln comercial over and over love it release as a single with approval from church etc. i love it!

  • This version is severely lesser than The Church original. And ever more so lesser so than the Coheed and Cambria cover

  • bucanadian... this is a cover from a band called 'The Church', also from Australia. Sia makes it sound magic also... as everything she does! Saw her twice this month in Australia! She is totally beautiful!!

  • is this song new?

  • Cool song & awesome car!!!

    I LOVE the Lincoln MKT!!!!

  • Makes me wanna pour a glass of Crown and chill...

  • a very calming song

  • Oh yes - this version is even better ! mmmm-yes...very nice! love you Sia! Forever.

  • Good effort I suppose, but doesn't come close to the original IMO.

  • You're quite an angry individual.

  • it sounds better w/ her voice

  • i love both versions :D she did this song wonderful justice!

  • Is this not a remake of a song?

  • The "CHURCH" are the original creators of this masterpiece. Great Band = Great music!!!!!!

  • i liked Reptile better though

  • Australian singer Sia covers fellow Aussie band The Church's "Under the Milky Way"

the poster states its a cover. >.>

  • more reverb please

  • Geez !! just let the woman make a quick buck. damn !

    its not even a SONG.

Its an extended version of a COMMERCIAL.

you can tell by the sound mixing... its really... not well engineered.

you shouldnt judge sia by this song.

  • I love sia, and I love this song, but I don't like her doing this song for some reason. It just doesn't work for me.

  • heard it in a car commercial and it is now my favorite song.

  • The Lincoln MKT. The ad used the music quite well, I think.

  • I want my 3:37 back, I actually like some of her other music but no, not this,

oh, and just want to put it out there that here facial structure resembles that of the kid from 2 and a 1/2 men

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! So true!!!!

  • beautiful!!!

  • Wow..How can anyone even say this compares to the original?? That bad "trying to emulate Peter Koppes but falling waaayyyyyy short" Ebow solo in the middle.., terrible, lacks that "timeless"mystique that the original owns--the reason everyone covers it..

  • I also never heard this before the commercial but I Love SIA.. breath me is one of my favorite songs!!!

  • I love this song, never heard it before the commercial.

  • me either this song is amazing, it's a remake so i just learned myself tonight " under the milkyway tonite" lol

  • Too much noise distortion.

  • good cover although i cant compare it to the original

sure can sell a car though

  • noniggers = dumbass

What the fuck is up with that screen name? You need attention or something? Trying in anyway to feel superior?

  • @NONlGGERS Keep that to yourself then. Btw, I'll put 20 dollars on you not actually being that racist, your just some 17-24 year old who didn't get enough attention as a child, so he goes onto Youtube threads and gets it the only way he knows how, by "trolling".

  • Thank you...

  • I heard this in the Lincoln commercial. Found it here. Huge fan of the Church in the 80's. Don't mind a little updating and re-interpretation... one cannot live in the past - that's called death, not living. I like both versions.

  • Meh idk.

  • Looking at your username, you are obviously tasteless in every part of your life including your taste in music.

Do us all a favor and keep your opinions to yourself, because NOBODY cares.

  • I heard this on the lincon commercial and nearly lost my mind

  • Same...it fits the mood perfectly...I can't believe I didn't recognize her voice from Zero7

  • the way she sings this song is heaven I absolutely love it

  • This song is better than the original. Just like Lincoln's ground control to Major Tom commercial female version last year was better than the original.

  • Same here :)

  • wonderful....was looking for it since i saw the ad for lincoln...

  • Mediocre cover.

  • If you want to download this version, go to Lincoln Auto web site and place browser over "Media & Events" icon and click on "TV Ads". The 1st selection is a clip from the tv ad that they actually use this song in their ad but when the box pops up it will allow you to download the entire song. Hope this helps.

  • awesome, thanks!

  • oh her voice! so sexy. how can I get this song? ...not in itunes yet.

  • duh limewire

  • Great song.

  • i heard this in the Lincoln car commercial and i was like.."That voice, i know that voice...SIA!!" i saw her perform live and met her- shes awesome!!

  • Highlander1911 is just a hater with no life and a tin ear. This version is great and I think The Church think so as well or they wouldn't have let her sing their song.

  • yes Highlander1911 has a tin ear her voice is soulful and quit soothing

  • The Church doesn't have to approve, only the publisher does.

  • Whatever, who cares, maybe they own the publishing rights.

Regardless Sia's version is sweet. I play it all of the time. Fuck all of the haters.

  • Hey I heard the song several times, too via the LIincoln commercial and was finally determined to find out who was singing it.

  • omg does she have a new album!?!

  • Highlander1911 has a tin ear. This is a great tribute indeed. I like The Chruch, but this is good, her voice is so unique and the arrangement is haunting. I love it.

  • i agree. her voice is quite good, and the beauty of the song relies much more on the arrangement rather than the actual talent and intricacy.

  • I love this song...saw it in the Lincoln MKT commercial and I neede to have the song

  • hahaha...me too!! :)

  • You can download it free on the Lincoln website. Go to multimedia -> commercials -> MKT.

  • Kay, I have been obsessed with this song, thanks for the 411 on getting the song, wow.

  • This is a great tribute to a brilliant song. Sia is fabulous and because of a car commercial millions of people will want her version.

  • damn, why so angry, so much hate...i actually like this better than the original

  • Sounds like Chrissie Hynde.

  • As soon as I heard this on the commercial I loved it. When I found out Sia was the singer, I really understood why I loved it instantly.

  • Comment removed

  • I love Sia's voice in this cover as much as I love the masterful blend of acoustic and electric guitars in The Church's original version.

  • unnecessary

  • BEAUITFUL

  • I saw that commercial and I was like - I know this voice. So I looked it up to make sure it was Sia, and it was. First I got some song by Shiny Toy Guns but that wasnt the right one and I remember something about the Milky Way in the song so I searched for that.

  • paigestrong... I did the exact same thing a few minutes ago!

Love this song, originally done by "The Church..." but "Sia" does the version that I like better.

  • haha! wow! exactly here!

  • Beautiful <3

  • this is a great cover, but still the churchs version is the best without a doubt

  • weird..im 16 haha. howd u figure that?

  • Copied and pasted the statistics.

And it's retarded my original comment was down-thumbed three times. Ooh! Was that offensive to anybody? That's exactly what YouTube's statistics said.

  • Im an 18 yr old male and I like this video.

  • Actually, it updated:

    Gender Age

    Male 35-44

    Female 35-44

    Female 18-24

I don't care what you are. I was just copyign and pasting the statistics.

  • me toooooo!!
