Very nice. Is this the one built by AJD Engineering in the UK back in the early 90s? It had a Warner Scarab engine back then, would be nice to think it has been re-engined with a rotary.
@I85PIES No, this is an original 504 that has been in NZ since the 1920's. The AJD aircraft met with an unfortunate end in some trees a few years ago :-( Thankfully no injuries to the pilot, but the aircraft was/is a mess. I have no idea whether there's any plans to rebuild her or not -- it would be a very significant underataking.
Thank you for that. I was unaware that the AJD machine had crashed. I remember it doing a close formatiion display with the Shuttleworth Collection 504K, which was wonderful, and display pilot Dennis Neville performing a falling leaf manaeouvre with it. Regarding a rebuild, it's not like losing an original, so maybe if it's that bad it would be quicker and cheaper to build a new one.
