I believe this version had the best way to manage multiple workspaces. Since they recently merged in the "relayout" branch, they're less accessible now. I hope they can bring that back or come up with an acceptable alternative solution somehow.

@J0RDSKI To tell the truth i have no clue... I stopped using that when i got a new computer. Also, this video is very outdated there may have been some major changes i would check out the gnome shell website

I'm kind of worried here...Is this supposed to add something special to the user experience vs the old gnome desktop? Like adding delay or bloatware to usual daily tasks? I hope they clean this up before it's released and becomes the official ubuntu desktop!

@jortecus1 I really like this name, . . I will be sad though, for I know they will they pass up this awesome name, "Masturbating Monkey". . . . OH, and I have mixed feelings about this Gnome 3. Guess I'll have to test it out to know for sure. Looks cool, but at the same time, looks a bit less efficient for getting things done.

i don't think it'll be included in lucid lynx, bcoz 10.04 will be released in april while gnome 3 is planned to be release in september. :-/

Driver? Not sure i have a fairly old card so i would guess a older driver... I thinks it's like nvidia 185 but i haven't used that computer in a while. Also, Why does it matter. I didn't do any cool effects?

I had a theory that all the cool gnome-shell videos on youtube were made using non-free drivers.

I personally have trouble making gnome-shell run with my free radeon driver, but that is a different story.

Well, i had that problem on my old laptop i downgraded to 8.04 and it had some older drivers which worked

@anotherelvis: I got gnome-shell working on my laptop with Intel video on an external monitor. It worked fine (I don't have a sample video), I just didn't like the concept of it. Depending on your hardware, free drivers can work just fine.

I used to love KDE then the 4 series came and made it super bloatware. Then I switched to gnome. Hope the same thing won't happen to GNOME 3.0. Otherwise I don't know where to go, lol. I want a fast, convenient desktop environment wihout bloats..
