Free school lunches are good if you're LOW INCOME. If you're one of the middle class better known at the working poor then you're out of luck. I can barely feed my son or give him food for his lunch, can't afford to give him money to buy lunch, yet I don't qualify for free lunch because I'm told I make too much money to qualify since they have income requirements. There is a statement regarding food: beans, rice, vegetables, fruit. The first 2 can be obtained in large quantity for lower price at a bulk food store. Vegetables & fruit can be grown oneself (if land available), but can be obtained at stores on sale.
There should be a ban on using food stamps for ice cream, candy, sodas, chocolate syrup, corn syrup, sugar, pre-made cereals (Kellogs, etc.), and probably countless of other products.

Free school lunches are good if you're LOW INCOME. If you're one of the middle class better known at the working poor then you're out of luck. I can barely feed my son or give him food for his lunch, can't afford to give him money to buy lunch, yet I don't qualify for free lunch because I'm told I make too much money to qualify since they have income requirements. Bunch of BS, sad thing is if my son was a foster child he's qualify regardless of my income.

No way I could predict wage freezes, a crumbling housing market & the abandonment of the glass-Steagall Act. Our financial situation right now is why I have not had any other children, it's called responsibility. I guess my only fault is not being psychic back in 2005.

There is a statement regarding food: beans, rice, vegetables, fruit. The first 2 can be obtained in large quantity for lower price at a bulk food store. Vegetables & fruit can be grown oneself (if land available), but can be obtained at stores on sale.
There should be a ban on using food stamps for ice cream, candy, sodas, chocolate syrup, corn syrup, sugar, pre-made cereals (Kellogs, etc.), and probably countless of other products.
Oatmeal, grits as cereal.

I once knew a woman who was trying to get money for her kid in jail so that he would have money to buy socks from the prison (one can supposedly only buy the prison's socks, not bring in socks). But she smoked probably at least 12 to 14 packs of cigarettes a month, each costing her probably around 4 dollars per pack. And her 2 kids and her weren't getting enough food because one of her sons would not stop overeating (he was 17-18 years old and maybe over 225 pounds).

If you dont like US live! Please Welcome to Bulgaria... In east Europe people work for 15 dollars all day! If you have a job...For example 1 L gas is 1.55 $, home rent is 250-300 $ for 60 middle flat .If you want to eat normally for 24hours, you need of 25 $. If you want a social help you have to pay ,but if you are a invalid only.
If you have something... something like US, just be grateful :-)

@michaeldatch I just heard some one speaking Bulgarian for the first time in my life. She was talking on her cell phone and i'm like, "What language was that?" She was like, "Bulgarian." She's 100% Bulgarian and when I noticed it wasn't English I was kinda surprised, but man... Bulgarian sounds like a cool language... But dutch sounds messed up o_O

Its tough to make it. even if you earned double minimum wage how can you afford a mortgage, car, maintenance, utilities, health insurance, car ins., home ins., kids, internet (now a neccessity), phone, and still expect to save for childs college tuition. You can forget about saving for retirement too because you will have to work until you die or ageism prevents you from getting hired . Then you have to hope your kids take you in.

@theoxtheory Revolution demands will power and blood. Some have to sacrifice for many. In 1980s there was a revolution in Iran. Why can't it be now? It is difficult but it was never easy. You have more tools and ways to communicate as compared to previous times. So with this much awareness what is holding the people back?
