Where Is this jeep place thing?

I own a 06 and although I like the 08 redesign, I prefer the look of mine; much more sporty. The new one is too refined and city. Who wants a city Jeep? And what's with the rollaway roof? It's just something else to malfunction and leak. And did they make the rear cargo room any larger? It looks smaller to me. And what's with the integrated headlights? They seem much more susceptible to rocks and breakage now. And why are all bumpers and fender flares painted now? The gray is better.

I miss my stock Cherokees... They were work trucks not a silly play toy. The militarized look named Liberty or Patriot is so stupid. Freedom today means anything but. I wish Jeep would still make cars that haul ass, the old suspension and straight6, lightweight, room in back. Liberty does none of that except maybe the hauls ass.

To make it worse, the 08 model copies the hummer3 look which really hurts to see. Jeep used to be an American original and now it's following the dumbass route.

i agree with xblue, looks too similar to the Nitro. My girl just bought an 08 with the sky roof... which is pretty nice. I'm pretty impressed with the overall quality and look of the vehicle and you gotta love the entertainment system with navigation, Serius, and Infinity sound. The thing even sinks to your phone and you can call someone without having to dial, you just talk through the car which is awesome.

Here are a few spelling corrections for you: Sirius (not Serius), and syncs (not sinks, lol). Yeah, the last thing you explained is called Bluetooth. It isn't a new technology. Go back to school, get an edu-ma-cation, and we'll have a nice chat. ;-)

I'm partial to '02-'04, when the foglights were actually lower than the headlights by a sensible amount. '05-'07 had them up so high they barely made any difference. I own an '02 Renegade, and I absolutely love it. They trashed the '08s though, I must say. Their redesign took away everything that made the Liberty so popular, namely the curves.

Now I know Dodge and Jeep are all under Chrysler, but why the hell did they need to make the Liberty look so much like the Nitro? If I wanted a Nitro, I would go to Dodge and buy a Nitro not a Libertro! It's okay looking though, I like it.

I looked at this one at my dealer. The fantastic Liberty that you built from 2002 until date looks sooooo much better. The rounded retro style is in guys! Have another meeting and get on with 2009 and bring back the REAL Liberty!

I'm saying this as an owner of an '05...It's no rock crawler. Wasn't supposed to be. I only bought it because I can't afford a Commander and every other SUV just sucks. It hauls my 2 kids, wife, dog and cargo perfectly fine.  Come down off the high horse people...Manufacturers need to make money somehow, and that somehow is making vehicles that appeal to the masses.

Oh, and I leave the serious O/R to my YJ. Do the two compare? HELL NO. They're not supposed to.

Real Jeepers? How about people who want a practical vehicle that still does decent off road, has cargo room, looks cool, and gets more than 12 mpg? (ok not much more) Guess I'm not a real Jeeper. Sorry I'd rather be able to do more with my vehicle than drive on trails. Hilllll billy!

First of all I live in Santa Barbara, California so if that makes me a Hill Billy I'll take it any day. Second, JohnNashfrom has a point, get a station wagon if you want cargo room and gas mileage because an off-roader it is not. Anyone that tries to argue that it has any more off-road capability than a CRV or Rav4 is only fooling themself.

Oh yeah, Daimler-Chrysler is really dragging the Jeep name into the proverbial mud, and, getting stuck because all of the new Jeeps (save the JK Wrangler) dont have any more off-road capability than any other grocery-getting soccer-mom-mobile out there anymore!

Looks to me like Jeep took a step backwards with this one. I like my 2005's design better. However, I just watched my trade-in-value drop 1500 bucks in a week since Chrysler unveiled this new design. Why is everything getting bigger and less sporty? Same 3.7 liter engine but bigger, heavier body?  We'll see how this turns out.
