Correct Soulmaster7 and for Fabuladico's further education it was also written by
Little Willie John Davenport..He recorded and released his song in 1956. it topped the Billboard charts and sold over a million copies,he was the brother of MABLE jOHN (Stax/Motown) and the Father of Keith John who was in Stevie Wonders Band
I think I like the Original version of this song with Peggy Lee best. She was not only a talented singer, but as you can see by this song, she could write a pretty darned good song too!
Yes this is Lyn Cornell later of The Pearls . They had a number of hits - You Came You Saw You Conquered - Guilty - You are Everything ( before it was murdered by Diana and Marvin ! ) - Third Finger Left Hand ( though the vocal on that was actually Sue and Sunny ) . They also did lots of others which didn't chart but should have . Lyn had a hit with Never on Sunday and did 9 singles for Decca 1960 - 1963 . Like Love / Demon Lover was the first one . She should have been huge - big talent wasted
Great version of a great song......

Us kids had no idea what good stuff we were seeing on "Shindig!" back then.
You can't help by admire the towering, complex hairdo here.

Love many different renditions of this number. I really, really think it is the MUSIC that makes the song. Listen to that seductive BASS line.
