@si11001 For me its more like clarifying/conditioning treatment, I do it before deep conditioning since baking soda lifts the cuticles, and then do an ACV rinse afte DC to seal the cuticle...ive heard of some people having bulkyness taken away or their texture loosened a bit,but I hear more about it bring their curl pattern out, and cleansing hair without squeaky clean feeling. If you are worried about loosing your curl pattern start off with 1 tablespoon of baking soda , into 1cup of conditioner
@NaturallyNike lol i realized what it was after i commented but thanks anyway! i tried the treatment. it did pretty nice for my hair.i'm still transition but it worked and once i flat ironed it it was so soft. i did this b4 i got my ends clipped and got compliments about the softness. Thanks 4 the video.
I'm transitioning right now, and the baking soda treatment is cool for the new growth but the permed hair at the ends has an ISSUE with it. They just tangled like crazy! I'll be doing this more often once I bc. :)
I used the olive oil replenishing pack too..I got so paranoid of water it was. So I mixed it with aussi moist and the oak and it was thick. I love the way your hair came out.
Yes its perfect for relaxed heads, especially when you want to tame the new growth. No you dont hav eto wet your hair but you hair must be clean, but I do suggest that you do it on wet hair so it will be easy to get into hair.
Baking soda has a pH of 9 meaning it is an alkaline. Relaxers have a pH of anywhere from 9-13+. So yeah, baking soda will mildly "relax" your hair when left in for long periods of time. Plus the alkalinity raises your cuticle and can cause damage so it is important to do a ACV rinse afterward and perhaps maintain the health of the hair with protein or henna treatments (for strength) on a regular basis afterwards.
Yes there is,Baking Soda is just plain baking soda , while Baking Powder is a mixture of Baking Soda and some kind of base. Make sure to use pure Baking Soda for this treatment
I like your mixture you use...do you like it better with honey or without? I may try your mixture to see how it works...our hair texture is similiar so we'll see!
I like it waaay better with honey, I used to DC with Honey and Olive Oil alone, which makes hair soft and shiny . So I figured it would be great with my two fav conditioners.
Good tip about mixing the baking soda into the conditioners 1st. I definitely give this a try and if it works for me, then I'll try on my daughters' hair. (I have 2 little natural mini-me's!) Thanks for the tip; it will be added to my favorites!
@NaturallyNike, I don't have your curl definition to start with. My hair is SUPER tightly curled. Will the baking soda treatment work for me as well?

The ques is so dumb I dnt even know how to ask it but.. how'd you rinse it out without scrubbing it in to your scalp?
Solo10452 2 years ago
You just run you hair under the water as your finger comb in the shower, when applying the treatment you have to try not to get it on your scalp.
