The old kit was made in the time when special effects, such as computer generated animation was not around. Also the A.I. in kitt is different as that the old kitt was hardware Pre-Pentium based, where as the the new is possibly based on quantum computing. As far as the color changing and shape shifting, who knows possible the technology exists, if the human mind can make it for a show, one day they will make it for real. But the best part of Knight Rider was the babes, bikini's,& bars!

the new kitt sucks and also has a rubbish voice. the old kitt looked stylish and also had a brilliant voice and plus david hassle hoff was much better as michael knight than justin bruening. i think justin is ok compared to hoff. plus they havent got rebecca holden or barney bairstowe or even devon and rc. they where the real knight rider team. comapred to this one.

i saw the first pilot movie in 2008 i loved it ...but yesterday walking i went by a car sales car lot...and i saw this exact model car,black ford mustang GT V8 320 CV...WHERE SELLING IT FOR 27,000 EURO.i couldent stop steering...i said holy shit its kitt..BEAUTIFULL.you can even start the engine without being in the car..(FAR DISTANCE)...i really want to buy this car..

I'm too scared to watch the new one. I'm a HUGE fan of the old Knight Rider series and I'm told by a lot of old Knight Rider fans that the new one isn't as good as the old one. I would watch it for KITT though...

I hope if they do bring in the old KITT that they don't ruin him! Even if I'm not watching it. Just the thought would be sickening. Speaking he really can't have the same voice actor cause his old voice is way older now...

The story line of the new knight rider is about as lame as the new battlestar galactica!! you just watch it and think WTF? knight rider got the first 2 production models of the new trans am when it was made. This series got a tarted up mustang which as being around for ages and you have some really hot cars around and they pick this...? It just looks like a ford advert, I could do better, every knight rider fan could do better!!! If it gets cancelled I can't say that it doesn't deserve it!!

@svlion1977 Actually I hate it because The old kit was beleivable, Jumping, boosting really fast and on board computers werent and still arent that unrealistic. However turning from a car into a van a la transformers is just ridiculous. try thinking before you comment.

I mean like seriously WHERE'S THE ATM MACHINE MAN!!! and Automatic bulletproof thing and the old Kitt could get gas himself, and he had super pursuit mood and turbo boost, AND he could make fake IDs himself!!! I mean come one!!! The new KITT can't do anyof this by itself! Mr. Knight has to push a button!!!!!

The Vett series....like tell me, how many years was that going on for. The new kitt was like 40 episodes, you cant fit everything in 40 shows. I like both the old and the new =)

@svlion1977 They didn't have any choice. They didn't make the Firebird/Trans Am OR Camaro anymore. The Mustang is the only muscle car left. The new Camaro didn't come out until after the series was cancelled.

If they SERIOUSLY had to use a friggin' Ford Mustang they should've used the later 90's sports 'Stang, not the retro muscle car as K.I.I.T was supposed to look normal but futuristic and sleek at the same time, the new KITT has a cock-eyed "face", a badly placed red scanner, and a double spoiler (WTF?).
