I have seen Jimmy live twice about 10 years ago, at Tavern on the Green and Birdland...No one and I mean NO ONE phrases a song like Jimmy. Every single person at Birdland had a beaming smile, ever-waiting for Jimmy to drop the next syllable! God blessed us all when He gave us this amazing artist.
@beechtan "Heaven" (Talking Heads version) is on (Popular Favorites 1976-1992 - Sand In The Vaseline) + (The Name Of This Band is Talking Heads-Live) + (The Best Of Talking Heads) + (Fear Of Music).
Thanks for your interst in Jimmy. Kallman's is a hormornal deficienty (not a disease), that effects 2% of the population. He did not stop growing at age 12, he grew 8 inches taller at age 37. Yes, it true he went from 4'11" to 5'7" his height today.
he is one of the greatest,i heard about him on the bill cosby show, bill had great taste, thanks for introducing me to him i believe it was the episode where denise desides she wants to go to hillman colledge
Ok. Sorry about it! I only gave you this information because there are a lot of people who think that it's a woman bacause of his sound!! You know this! But anyway, thanks for reply and sorry about my english, I'm brasilian. Bye bye and good christmas...
Not too many people know about the disease. There is a very good biography by David Ritz named "Faith in Time". It is a fascinating book. Jimmy got ripped off in his early musical career.
Jimmy Scott ripped off himself by 1) getting involved with many a wrong woman; 2) not fighting that bastard Herman Lubinsky to get out of his lifelong Savoy Records contract; and 3) taking long term employment outside of music when he just should have hung on in there and kept singing. In "Faith In Time," Jimmy lost alot of time...and deprived the world of his magnificent musical genius. Glad Jimmy came back in the end, can't make up for lost time but at least we have gems like this to enjoy.
WONDERFUL !!!😃

Jimmy has Kallman's Syndrome. He stopped growing at about age 12. This resulted in reduced levels of hormones among other things.

Thanks for that. Actually, my original comment was pretty immature. My bad...
