ok so Im tired of geting owned on the street its like even I win the fight the next day either my fist wrist is swollen or my leg is so bashed i cant walk etc.
So after i seen some videos of kyokushin i see that whatever these guys do they can take tons of dmg,i started "training" alone so far im at the point where i hit wood my fist bleeds and i can go on without any problems, just wondering what i can do for the wrists in general and balance,Im 6.2.
@rugedandraw why don't you just train in a kyokushin dojo? If there isn't one nearby the closest thing to kyokushin as far as the fighting aspect is concerned, in my opinion, is muay thai.
Regarding your wrists, you have to be careful and not overdo it - you might cause permanent damage and there goes your hard work. What I recommend is plain old tape, punching bag and fist push ups. Also, when landing a punch, remember to use "seiken" or the knuckles of the index and middle fingers. Good luck!
@rugedandraw my advice is go to a dojo and train there, self bone conditioning is not a good idea since you can really damage your hands. so i advice to find a teacher that knows how to train without risking major hand injuries like arthritis
@SurfacingChannel Yea i went, its amazing its like It doesnt hurt anymore, pain has a diferent meaning now,i didnt expect it to be efective so fast,i have very good stability on my feet now, thing is i cant hi kick yet,and It's a bit hard to remember not to punch to the face :).

@MIXMASTERPETRO I would simply say that this is a karate legend grown old (probably shortly before he died). Oyama has been supreme rock'n roll in Karate in his prime. Even though already old and probably even sick, he still lives his art and teaches. I'd like to see you, myself or anyone else somewhere between 60 or 70 doing powerful kicks. Simply watch some of his older movies, or take a look at any arbitrary Kyokushin video and you will see what impact this man had!
is it me or this style seems to be more about muscular strengt of the perticular muscle needed to every hit instead of full body action mouvement? Just asking I don't know this style?
no , it is karate , not much difference in technique or philosophy ,its tournament rules are different from other styles which made it very distinguished , that and the exceptional character and success of its founder , and that he died undefated after fighting the strongest men inthe world .
@araos90 kyokushin has a very strong emphasis on practising fundamentals. at the start of every class, without exception, even at the highest levels, students will still practice the very most basic moves (including straight punches and kicks). it might sound repetitive, but it's more about developing explosive knockout power without the wind-up that might give you away in a fight, so no full body action movement, knee spring, or other at least for basic moves.
Damn right he would, lost of people can have opinions on Karate greats from the comfort of their keyboard. You don't get to be head of one of the largest karate groups in teh world for nothing. I am a Wado stylist but I have nothing but respect for my Kyokushin brothers and sisters Os
@tokaidosan When you'll be at his age at this clip (over 70), and be as healthy as he is, not in your bed with your son, then you should talk. My grampa was 65, he always was in bed, couldnt move his leg... So dont walk like that with him, he is a karate master at his time, well, maybe even now...
I'm a Kyokushin practitioner for 2 years now and a Security Guard (GraveYard Shift) and I must say that the art of Kyokushin Karate has it all from Self-Defense to Conditioning, Kihons,Katas,Kumite...You name it.....I use it several times against an attacker and survive so far during work......Kyokushin is for everybody....Doesnt matter your age or gender.
@tokaidosan: why you blame what evidently you ignore?A man who is able to build what he built, can't be called a lier, and if you don't pay respect, and name the style and its followers a fake, is just because you never sparred with us..I said "sparred",because fighting for you could surely be too much, and you could even get a diarrhea after that effort...naturally when you wake up from a sure knock out...so I can understand your words...
@ahmednabil I am going to try speaking english, Oyama is as supple as Matsui but Oyama gets some difficulties in order to raise the legs to do mawashi or yoko geri, so I don' t understand, when you are supple this moving is easy.
sosai oyama suffered from arthritis , he used to be incredible with his legs , thats what ive heard , but he always overtrained so he was in constant pain and it was impossible to rais his legs high enough .
@ahmednabil Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering just the same thing. I'm a kyokushin practicioner (shodan). I'll have to take that in count, since I like to train to the limit, just like my fellow Kyokushin brothers.
i think u can imagine what kind of overtraining sosai did , maybe not , maybe non of us can imagine that .
my point is , training to the limits is what makes the fighter , but whats really important is providing the body with enogh resting time , 2 days a week is optimal , or one full rest day and one active rest (very light ) training , more than 2 days rest is too much rest though . and make sure that you rest 4 days in a row each month .
@ahmednabil OSU! Thanks for your advice, I will try to follow it. Could you share some speed, maximal power, isometric and reaction time excercises with me?
maximal power is whatever move you can do (most use weights)one repetition of .
but i think its not necessary , because weight training for maximal power has huge downside . like planche pushups , not necessarily full planch but the hardest variation you can do , if you dont know the planche you are in for a treat , i dont recomment bench pressing ,ever .
one legged suats , if you can do more than once , carry enough weight so you can do only one and repeat as sets .
speed training is very muscle specific so bag and shadow boxing in addition to kihon ofcourse is good for fight specific speed ,sprinting is a treasure for both cardio and speed . always do is as HIIT type (search hiit).
isometric is very simple it is good for indurance , tendon strenght(much more impertant than muscle ) and ever maximal power,it has 3 variations. holding in middle of a squat is isometric straining, applied to any training like pushups or abs, middle of a pull up etc
you have to do your own reading to know the 3 types of isometric and decide what is your training system going to be , u know you cannot do everything .
core strength is specifically important .
also if you can do 50 pushups but only 4 1armed pushups (propper) forget about the normal and stic with the 1 arm.
reaction time , well its just aquired through kumite , ipersonally train this way my partner attacks and i only block or dodge without retreating ,then its his turn .good luck
hey nice to see you again , well its quite far , but i have some friends who drive an hour to ge to our dojo 3 times a week , so its up to you to decide , give it a try and you'd know if its doable .
us martial artists usually dont practice right,if u do a 100 pushups u really didnt increas the arms strength , just stamina , most ppl dont know that
my point is if we really use the right variety of training, overtraining is impossible .
u have speed training cardio, stamina, explosive power, maximal power, isometric, kihon, balance, footwork, flexibility, reaction time, toughness, bone conditioning.its crazy i feel i can never cover all this,so overtrn is only whn u neglect most aspects & focs on 1
well you will know a mcdojo :) .. the momment you get in there .
i don't know what generic karate is , maybe i can help you on the subject if you would explain that to me .
however let me tell you that karate . has 19 major schools , really different karate , almost different martial arts , so you need to do extensive research about the types of karate , 2 days or so don't stall too much
also if you are entirely new to martial arts then you might not recognize a bad dojo or a fake teacher , i'll tell you this , not because im a kyokushin fighter but its the truth .
among kyokushin dojos its actually hard to find a "mcdojo" honestly , its been surbrising to me i found almost no bad kyokushin teachers .
if you actually confirm that all the dojos in the area are bad and you cannot go to the nearest authentic one , do go to the bad dojo .
He died 2 years after this video was made??? Unbelievable........he looks like he could just stand there clipping his fingernails while you tried to beat him sensei-less with a 2X4......he really does look tougher than a keg of nails.
these masters always die strong , the only reason he lost his flexibility in his legs is arthritis doe to overtraining, thats for all the ppl talking about how low his kicks are .
he kept training, and giving incredible tameshiware demonstrations through his constant pain , i would not do that , but i have nothing but absolute respect to this kind of decision , im sure he didnt thing that breaking bricks would cure his arthritis , but it was a sacrifice for his message .
@ahmednabil I always taught my students: "If you can only kick knee high....then train to be the best knee high kicker in the world". Head high kicks look slick, but unless you have the speed of a mosquito.....don't bother. This guy could probably snap my leg like a twig with a knee-high kick. You can just tell.......this Master isn't fat, he's just rock solid. At my 51 years, I could probably out-maneuver him......but if he ever got his hands on me.....he'd KILL me! :-)
im sure that he had more than power, this man fought all the best of all martialarts of the world and undefeated for life .
he dis the 100man kumite for 3 consicutive days 300 men and the fourth day they ran out of men but it was to be 400.
a friend of his "world chamo kickboxer "sparred with old sosai, but first bunch to the chest"i felt my chest compressing"he said , ended the sparring right there, realised he shouldnt even be sparring w him
@hpygolkyone I agree with what you said about KICKING, I like the words of someone who truly understand martial arts. Head high kick is only useful ( as you described ) yes, unless it's very speedy, so that the kicker have less time exposing his groin against the opponent. A cautious professional will not let out high-kicks easily when he's up against another professional. But surely a trained kicker will finish an amateur in a split second with high kick to his head. Osu !!
Shows that even if you get older, and less flexible you can still train the legs use your upper body, break a sweat and lead by example. His work ethic made him great.
@arthurchevalier He was his Senpai, but not in the meaning as "1e Dan". The position of Senpai has existed in warrior groups since warrior groups began. Originally Senpai were the most senior warriors in groups, under the commander or leader. He is responsible for the development and direction of the lower warriors, and for the protection of the leader. In the Japanese martial arts, the position remains the same.
More about this meaning on the site of Australian Kyokushin.
Wow, this is great. If you have more videos with sosai Oyama please upload them. Power of this man is visible in his every move. I feel respect for his skills, spirit and achievements.
@deathskunk3 This type training is more Okinawan. The Japanese have actually corrupted karate and that is why Oyama did his own style, he was interested in martial arts not sports.
@IEKUKATAKA in all earnest i would enjoy discussing this out of public view, i love talking history but not in open forum. and no, not a setup, im likely in agreement for the most part but not interested in the usual youtube shit storm that often erupts. hit me on my inbox if interested, i'm just looking for knowledge, not fights.
okinawan is the style of all karate including this one ....... the competition is different ,,,,, take it as this it's a tree with a hundred branches and blooming flowers ,,, karate is similar to the tree
@esmaelooo No, Okinawan is NOT the style of all karate but it is the style of true karate. The Japanese have corrupted karate, especially the JKA, and karate in the west is largely a joke. The tree you describe is highly innacurate as the lineage of true Okinawan karate would look like a limb with few branches. The tree you describe is largely the tree of corruption, adulteration, fabrication etc spawned by ignorance, selfishness, fraud, etc. You are apparently highly ignorant of the subject.
true , but its not really a title though , shokei is the chinese pronounciation for the name akiyoshi -which is korean- which is given as honorary sign.
actually this is very ,,wrong . lets put it in a nice way .
if he didnt need to "kick" why would he incorporate all these kicks in kyokushin . and what you dont know is he was a great kicker , only in old age he had severe arthritis in the knees from his training which obviously was too hard.
Although Sosai couldn't get his legs up during warming up exercises, I have seen Masters with the same problem during warm ups and then when you kumite with them, they find some way to throw a jodan mawashi geri and scramble the noggin. In other words, don't be fooled by what will turn out to be illusions. Besides, Sosai's fist were just as deadly as any kick if not more. Look at his kumite videos and you will see quite a few Karateka go down by his punches. Osu!

He died 2 years after this video was made??? Unbelievable........he looks like he could just stand there clipping his fingernails while you tried to beat him sensei-less with a 2X4......he really does look tougher than a keg of nails.

@hpygolkyone
these masters always die strong , the only reason he lost his flexibility in his legs is arthritis doe to overtraining, thats for all the ppl talking about how low his kicks are .
he kept training, and giving incredible tameshiware demonstrations through his constant pain , i would not do that , but i have nothing but absolute respect to this kind of decision , im sure he didnt thing that breaking bricks would cure his arthritis , but it was a sacrifice for his message .

allow me to pay respect to you as a teacher OSU!
im sure that he had more than power, this man fought all the best of all martialarts of the world and undefeated for life .
he dis the 100man kumite for 3 consicutive days 300 men and the fourth day they ran out of men but it was to be 400.
a friend of his "world chamo kickboxer "sparred with old sosai, but first bunch to the chest"i felt my chest compressing"he said , ended the sparring right there, realised he shouldnt even be sparring w him
ahmednabil 1 year ago
@hpygolkyone I agree with what you said about KICKING, I like the words of someone who truly understand martial arts. Head high kick is only useful ( as you described ) yes, unless it's very speedy, so that the kicker have less time exposing his groin against the opponent. A cautious professional will not let out high-kicks easily when he's up against another professional. But surely a trained kicker will finish an amateur in a split second with high kick to his head. Shows that even if you get older, and less flexible you can still train the legs use your upper body, break a sweat and lead by example. His work ethic made him great.
deejin25 1 year ago
@arthurchevalier He was his Senpai, but not in the meaning as "1e Dan". The position of Senpai has existed in warrior groups since warrior groups began. Originally Senpai were the most senior warriors in groups, under the commander or leader. He is responsible for the development and direction of the lower warriors, and for the protection of the leader. In the Japanese martial arts, the position remains the same.
More about this meaning on the site of Australian Kyokushin.

You serious? That comparison is equal to have to turn your IPod on when somebody attacks you on the streets.
deathskunk3 11 months ago 2
@deathskunk3 This type training is more Okinawan. The Japanese have actually corrupted karate and that is why Oyama did his own style, he was interested in martial arts not sports.
IEKUKATAKA 11 months ago
@IEKUKATAKA in all earnest i would enjoy discussing this out of public view, i love talking history but not in open forum. and no, not a setup, im likely in agreement for the most part but not interested in the usual youtube shit storm that often erupts. hit me on my inbox if interested, i'm just looking for knowledge, not fights.
MrByaeger 10 months ago
@IEKUKATAKA
okinawan is the style of all karate including this one ....... the competition is different ,,,,, take it as this it's a tree with a hundred branches and blooming flowers ,,, karate is similar to the tree
esmaelooo 9 months ago
@esmaelooo No, Okinawan is NOT the style of all karate but it is the style of true karate. The Japanese have corrupted karate, especially the JKA, and karate in the west is largely a joke. The tree you describe is highly innacurate as the lineage of true Okinawan karate would look like a limb with few branches. The tree you describe is largely the tree of corruption, adulteration, fabrication etc spawned by ignorance, selfishness, fraud, etc. You are apparently highly ignorant of the subject.
IEKUKATAKA 9 months ago
@IEKUKATAKA
take it easy man
i gott tell you
you really are mislead
and very ignorent about the subject , not me
i am a karateka , studied in japan
i am american , but living in the middle east
so you probably had a bad run with dojos in the west
okinawan is the style of all karate , and oyama's style is the one whose deviated from traditional funakoshi's discipline

@esmaelooo What ever, no time to argue when the truth stares me in the face.

oyama don`t need his legs to "kick"..His arms and body were devestating!
rkremer 2 years ago
actually this is very ,,wrong . lets put it in a nice way .
if he didnt need to "kick" why would he incorporate all these kicks in kyokushin . and what you dont know is he was a great kicker , only in old age he had severe arthritis in the knees from his training which obviously was too hard.

Osu!
