  • C major ionian and CM7 lydian are 2 different C scales. It may cause confusion to refer to a Cmaj7 as Cmaj because there is that whole F and F# deal going on. C ionian works but not as well as a C lydian over a Maj7

  • Very helpful,Thanks mate!!

  • friggin band in a box

  • this is really great for a newbie like me... thanks ...i appreciate this very, very much..

  • Es la misma voz de rod stewart

  • Thanks! I have learned more from you in 5 mins than I have with 10 jazz books

    in 10 years.

  • Thanks for this very helpful lesson!

  • very helpful!

  • Good lesson, but why do you use vibrato?

  • thumbs up if you think he sounds like toki wortooth from dethklok :D

  • This was very helpful! I Preciate it! Btw, Im looking for a good jazz guitar under 1000$ Have any good suggestions? :) Found out that Ibanez have some great worth it's price guitars

    Thank you!

  • The 4th produces a 'suspended' sound not a dissonance sound.

  • @denim98 it's only suspended if there's no third, over a maj7 chord it clashes with the 3rd

  • @GeoffonTour then it is called maj11 minus the 9th (which is optional)

  • Really great lesson. There are some very useful tips in there.

  • thanks! great lesson

  • amateur.

  • @boazmoss

    FAIL

  • @thechallengeresponse Trust me.

  • all your solos are the same. and they all have the same bounce to them. you seem to know exactly what your saying, but your to limited to be teaching this. but a good lesson for beginning jazz guitarists.

  • @wickedwizardofspeed It's a lesson, he's not supposed to show off every single musical style, technique and type of soloing style he can do. >.>

  • @wickedwizardofspeed

I found his examples to be perfect for the lesson subject. Simple concepts should be shown with simple examples. Too many people try to run before they can walk and end up missing out on the fundamentals.

  • are you greek?

  • band in a box ..love it

  • u hv to be a singer..ur voice is so nice..

  • Excellent! Thank you. I appreciate this lesson very much.

  • hey so could you clarify the point you made about linear vs. chord tone playing? because when you played that "linear" phrase it seemed like it could have been chord tone playing since you landed on 1, 3, 7, 6 for the first 4 downbeats...and those are all chord tones...

  • The audio is kinda hard to hear but your teaching was very helpful, compared to all the other videos ive been looking through for this subject. Thanks!

  • great lesson. I'm just getting into jazz soloing and the video was very helpful

  • fantastic, brother. It does help, although progress is slow! Thanks....I look forward to more lessons.

  • "I heard that Joe Pass sequence"

  • this is probably the best lesson i've seen to date in my life. please make more! its a real help! God bless

  • So in all cases can you only play the lydian mode over the 4 Chord??

  • You can play it over a Maj7 chord as well.

  • you've got a funny accent :) but the lesson is meritorically profficent and it's obvious you've got 5/5

  • Great information! Nicely laid out.

    Thanks.
