Actually it would be fairly easy to misinterperet Crypto as attempting to hurt the female. They didn't see her fall off the Ferris Wheel. For all they know he could have been about to abduct her.

They clearly don't have the full story, but I highly doubt they'd make an issue if they knew he was actually trying to help.
