I love MM to death! But, she was plotting to have her husband murdered...I think I'm going to have to be waaaay more sympathetic towards Mr.Loomis in this case. And according to Hollywood's "The wrongdoer must get what's coming to them" code, Rose had to "get her's".

She's following the rules of film. Like when a woman is in a house haunted by a murderous ghost. First, she has to put on a sheer negligee. Then the lights go out, & she hears a noise in the attic. So of course she goes up there to investigate (in sheer negligee). And she's carrying a candle that will blow out in a sudden gust of wind from a window that's open (cue banging shutter) or she'll have a flashlight with only 2 seconds of power left in the battery & it goes out. . It's the rules.
How long have you been watching films, anyway? It works like this: if it's the beginning of the film, & a homicidal maniac is after you, you run outside to a crowded area &get away. But if it's late in the film, you go out the window onto the fire escape & run up until you get to the roof, where there's no way to escape. Then you can struggle with the HM (homocidal maniac) until he's about to throw you off the roof before you get rescued. Screenwriting 101. Now back to the show.
While her acting skills are debatable, her star power isn't. Magnificently beautiful with tremendous screen presence, 48 years later after her untimely death this goddess has not been forgotten nor has her fame been minimized unlike those who have been touted for the acting abilities. Haters in the house, Marilyn still reigns even in spirit.
she is one of THE underrated actresses. Maybe because she was so gorgeous people assumed she was an idiot. She was also a much better singer than people gave her credit for.
Yes, there is that idiotic stereotype that beauty and brains don't go together. People don't realize how hard and grueling it can be to perform. They think acting is easy money. It's not. It is both physically and emotionally exhausting, and many actors use their own personal experiences to get into the emotion and character. Which explains why so many of them have emotional problems.
Marilyn was NOT a dumb blonde, and that is one stereotype I will always resent.
@Muirmaiden I think that most people who have really read and studied about the life of Marilyn Monroe know that she really wasn't a "dumb blonde". She was actually somewhat of an intellectual who read extensively and had a keen interest in politics. The "dumb blonde" thing was just an act and was part of her onscreen persona. It was just a part she played in the movies. She was also a very serious actress who took acting lessons and studied in acting school.

2 things ...the lighting and camera effects of this film in this particular scene is totally awesome..sort of a film noir in color if you will.
Secondly...is it me or were people much better looking back then then they are today?
