She worked with hot writers and producers like Andre Cymone to give her a little bit of that Prince sound, and added her feminine sultry and soft voice to make herself a commodity in the pop/dance music scene of the 80's. This song really put her on the musical map. It really fit the time!
I appreciate your comments. However, "Everything" was from my second album and not the first release. To date, I have had 32 Pop Ten singles in genres from Pop, R&B, Dance, and still enjoy doing what I love in my own style :-) Also, I never picked any producer to work with because they were 'hot', always want to keep my music genuine. Let me also just say that it's ridiculous that this album is out of print. Jody Watley was huge in the late 80's and even into the early 90's, with a string of dance/pop hits. But now, it seems that she's been completely forgotten (which is a huge injustice). "Back in the day", artists released albums full of potential hit singles: Watley's debut had 6 that topped the charts in the late 80's. Tell me a performer today, other than Madonna and Janet Jackson, who can boast the same!
