Im a huge fan of Terrence Malick, but this movie is surely the best, well still my point of view of curse : poetic, beautiful pictures, amazing actors, the music too ! everything's great.
@squeapler I don't think she was done... You could clearly see, at the end of that particular scene, the makeup brush going back to her eye for more. Looks like she was trying to pull off the mod look (aka Twiggy/Edie Sedgwick).
@squeapler It was the 1950s, maybe there weren't so many mags. of the sort you refer to? & those that did exist not so readily available in more rural areas? & there's the controlling Father too.
God this piece is so mesmerizing--their strange dancing goes along perfect with the song.
This was a movie I thought I was disappointed by, but it has grown on me a lot since my viewing, and I'm feeling it pull me back in; can't seem to get it out of my head.
One of the best movies ever!!!
In my top 3.

How could any teenage girl be so stupid as to not know how to wear eye makeup? Did she not ever read a fashion magazine in her life?

You can see a perfect blend of Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez in their dad in this scene.

Was that Sissy Spacek? It looked like her and if it wasn't it was her identical twin.
