  • Cool dude, I'm fixing to get the celestron CGE mount - hoping to get some good widefield shots. Havent decided whether i want a small APO refractor or a big old shmity. What do you recommend?

  • @orion118 Great question! It all depends on what you want to image. Schmidts are great if you want to start off imaging smaller objects due to the longer focal length. Small APOs are great for relatively larger objects like nebulas and larger galaxies due to their shorter focal length/faster speed. You can then use focal reducers or extenders to adjust the focal length of the OTA that you have to image larger or smaller objects with the same OTA.

  • Question, I took a daytime photo of the sun with a small digital camera using a solar filter. I not only got a sun photo but there were two other small redish objects visible as well, one above the sun and the other to the left, are these stars or satellites? Anyone venture a guess? thank you.
