sorry but i think this wont work.. since a emp is a wide scale thing and high powered pulses and a cell phone uses low powered signals its a totaly diffrent mater
sorry.....it isnt going to stop any emp . I worked to over 10 years on emp hardened aircraft( the B-1b)....unless it has a path to ground to disperse the emp, its gonna fry it....
@bigdaddyvtec well dude...unless an aircraft frame is different, because on a emp hardened aircraft, the electronics is shielded , and the shielding is grounded to the FRAME of the aircraft
@bigdaddyvtec ....so that the pulse goes to ground instead of thru the eletronics....everytime we undid connections they had to be checked with a milli-ohm meter when reconnected to make sure it had a clear path TO GROUND...........you say im wrong, but give no explanation of how you come to that conclusion...Id say I have a little experience in the subject (12 years)
Could you maybe stop blabbing for 10 minutes before getting to the meat of the subject. Every guy on here doing end of the world tech advice thinks it's necessary to blab away for half an hour while all I need is the how to info. Thanks for wasting important minutes of my life.
At least you'd be able to use your same old phone once all communication systems are restored after the EMP strike but I'd rather protect my laptop from EMP instead.
Umm......... Do you not realize that you are going to have the only working phone at this point? what is the point of this vid? The towers are going to be out so ......
How do you plan on powering them? Who are you planing on talking too? Towers will be fried. Wont be any power from the grid for 1-2 years later and who knows what government will exist or currency will be used
Solar panels and wind-turbines will have their circuitry fried. The only thing that could still run would be a few diesel generators which would have their inverters fried. Once the power goes out unless you have a storage of diodes or can make new circuit boards welcome back to the 1800s
ORDOABCHAOS IS A FUCKING COWARD, HES MAKING BAD VIDEOS ABOUT BUBBA AND DOC, YOU AND DOC ARE REAL PATRIOTS AND I WILL BE HONERED TO DIE BY YOUR SIDES! FUCK THIS TRAITOR TALKING ALL THIS SHIT.
We Russians has a simple way to block infinitely high levels of emp. Use conductive concrete made of 90% calcined petroleum coke or artificial graphite and 10% geopolymer cement binder but make sure that there are no gaps. Insulate the inside with a conventional geopolymer concrete using 90% silica sand or diatomaceous earth and 10% geopolymer cement binder that will act as an electrical insulator. Then make it self-contained wt a life-support biosphere.
i work in the electrical field, this is the right concept but blocking a little rf signal to a cell phone is allot easier than blocking an EMP weapon. magnetic radiation more like a MRI room is what u will b dealing with, in those rooms a shielding of 1/4 to 3/8 in thick lead is standard. their is special order dry wall made that comes with this sort of shielding already glued 2 one side. This sort of dry wall can easily have the lead peeled off and wrapped around stuff
im going to build a faraday cage using 1/4 inch hardware cloth ..im lining a closet and grounding it via the copper grounding rod that is grounding my electrical service...cost...less than 50 bucks.
the oil spill was all rigged, you know why? because hurricane seasons coming and they want the oil to be involved with the rain water, so the more oil spewing out every minute= more casualties during the hurricane
pretty good idea for a possible localized EMP device.. no amount of foil will protect against a minimal kiloton/megaton nuclear device exploded over the center north america (atmosphereic blast). That would disable every electronic device in most of the US. Cars, electricity transformers, cell phone towers, possibily even geostationary satellites would be affected. So that means no satellite phones or GPS. We would be back in the pre-industrial age in the blink of an eye.
I do agree that wrapping the cell phone in tin foil is a great idea to keep the towers from tracking where the phone is located. That will work pretty good unless you get too close to a tower where the signal is stronger.
Also, most GPS devices will be working if you protected them because they work off of satellite communications not ground based systems.
This is ok information, but an EMP is far stronger than a cell phone tower looking for a phone. An EMP would go right through that tin foil like paper for the most part. Grounding it would be a good idea, but having your devices in a full heavy metal cabinet with copper grounding straps connected to multiple grounding rods sunk at least 10 feet is the best idea. Old file cabinets or metal storage buildings won't do the trick either unless you modify the crap out of them.
@2509049 If your car is a 1975 model or eariler you can take the points & condenser out of the distributor and keep it in a protected shielding, along with the battery and after the EMP was to have taken place put them back in the car and more than likely you'll be the only one on the road. But newer cars with all the new electonric ignitions, fuel injection, etc. etc. you're pretty much screwed.
@america2revolt you can also just ground your car to the earth ..ive been reading up on it...im also reading about how a metal roof on your house if grounded properly will protect electronics in your home
I will throw another idea out there to shield for EMP, a metal "file" cabnet from a local home improvement center, Ground the "METAL" cabnet to a water pipe, or ground a ground rod in your house, anything in this metal "box" should be protected to some degree. Just make sure too clean any paint from the conection points.
my droid eris Has many apps that will work in a Emp event, such as my wifi link to my home security cameras, or my apps such as bubble level or compass as well as my scanning apps that use the phones on board sensors.
@SurvivingSTL great idea. those wires i think are heat treated. i know the 60 series detroit has the computer on the side of the engine. is there any other components thats critical to the engine running besides the main computer?
Shielding for RF is easier then shielding for EMP. To be most effective the shielding needs to be grounded to earth to provide a path for the charge to flow away from the object you are shielding.
@eddivision15 That's what I was wondering. Maybe have your storage building/room have it's own copper ground rod with a panel that you attach your EMP protected devices to.
@Pepsifx357 Yes to build a proper Faraday Cage for this application may not be so easy. I've built some for phone companies and are heavily grounded with multiple grounding rods around the structure and multiple attachment points to the structure.
If you do turn your steel shed into a Faraday Cage remember to apply sheet steel to the floor and make sure the floor is making good contact to the rest of the structure then ground all. 1 ground rod in each corner should do it. Should only cost $300
@eddivision15 Where do you get sheet metal large enough and light enough for an application like this? See, I am building a recording studio and have often thought of a possible copper mesh inner wall and/or ceiling to cancel out cellphones and other RF frequencies. What would be the best method for an application like that?
I use a nice new Galv Metal Trash Can. Don't let your gear touch the metal of the can, use a cardboard box. Put a bungie cord across the top to hold it tight (it must be a tight fit - use some aluminum foil over the lip if you have to). I then grounded the can with a length of wire wrapped around the handle and stuffed in the ground hole of an outlet.
I'm Computer Tech so I have plenty of those anti static bags lying around. Heheh. This is great video to put out mate. Just remember, if EMP is dropped, they will still be listening over the frequencies.
Perhaps also a good way to transport a cell phone without being tracked, since even when off, many phones can still be located due to soft-power off vs hard power off due to the small amount of standby power provided by the main or non-replaceable internal battery.
Google Tempest Protection if you are installing an emergency power solar/wind/hydro system. Shielding is expensive and often impractical, but it can be supplemented with layering properly rated "gas tube" and MOV surge protection. Both on the AC and DC side. Interesting video. Thanks.
@SurvivingSTL i cannot put my whole fleet in a cage. i wish i could. a follow up emp would mess up that idea anyways. im more interested in hardening the existing vehicles i have.
the 7.3 powerstroke isnt going to work in an emp situation. couldnt they just send a second emp out a few days later to get the rest unexpectedly? ive heard the 5.9 12 valve cummins would work fine, it just has a diagnostics computer. the cummins bc 1-4 is ok, older detroits Not 60 series. older cat motors not C or E model or newer. Mack E-7 and up is screwed too. This is a serious problem that America is not prepared for. We are talking most all trucks will die in their tracks.
For your truck Noel, it might not be a bad idea to have a spare "igniter" , or whatever chip runs that ignition system, wrapped up in the glove box. (not sure which engine you have in it) and any hand tools needed to swap it out. 7mm socket and rachet, etc.
how do you protect your computer on your diesel truck? is this possible? An emp would disable 95 percent of the trucks on the road, distributing products would be disabled and we would be in a terrible situation trying to get food food from farms to processing to distribution warehouse and then to the store. ive heard the pre 98 cummins 12 valve doesnt have a computer?
In an emergency situation, don't forget to turn the device off before placing it in the EMP sleeve. If you don't turn the device off. It will drain the batteries searching for a signal.
bubba i drink the shit outta deer park, but i think im gonna stop take a look where the springs are located on the map,the liberty county spring is mighty close to the gulf.I noticed you had a 2 and a half gallon jug

I think a lot of people are under estimating current EMP capabilities. Just look at what the old EA-6Bs could do. why bother protecting your cell phone if the towers are dead?
I've saw a Vid where a guy said if you put your cellphone in a Microwave, ti will not receive a signal. I don't know if I've got a faulty Microwave but I tried that and called the cell phone. The end result was that the cell phone rang! Anyone who uses this method should try it themselves to make sure!
